Having just attended a granddaughter's bat mitzvah, I appreciate the connections your draw to the Old Testament. They'll help me connect better with her.
Oh Thank you both for sharing these wonderful chapters with us. I find myself loving each book inside The Book Of Mormon I can't have a favorite one Because we need each one ❤
One other interesting item, one Hebrew etymology of Josh, a city that was burned, is "fire". Clearly a metonymic name given to the city after the fact (like most BOM names).
The rebaptism of Nephi is much similar to JS being rebaptized. Remember JS was baptized once prior to the organization of the church when the Aaronic priesthood was restored. Jesus organized the church when he came among the Nephites and therefore under the organization and priesthood keys from Christ to Nephi-He needed to be rebaptized.
My concern about false doctrine being taught by speakers in Sacrament Meeting or in class is that those who heard can cause confusion to the listener, young and old. Correction needs to be immediately and lovingly made. The Book of Mormon has many examples of how false teachers and false prophets can lead a person away from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is better to publicly correct 1 person in a kind way than it is to correct the many who heard what was said over the pulpit or in class and led astray by what was said. Uncomfortable, absolutely. Concern for hurting the feelings of the individual, yes. But it is necessary.
