  • This video demonstrates how PlusDesignBuild creates wall frame details and site plans. This process is more commonly known as panelization or wall frame shop drawings and the construction software industry traditionally makes this type of software proprietary. In other words, Builders Carpenters and Detailers must buy their products or connectors before they'll let you use their software.
PlusDesignBuild gives professional drawing and estimating functionality to builders Architects & Carpenters, in fact, anyone who is invested in building more efficiently and sustainably.
NOTE: This functionality is not available in PlusSpec Pro it is only available in PlusDesignBuild. The link to purchase this software and Sketchup for Australians is here.

This saves hours if not days on a custome home build with timber framing.

Plusspec is fantastic and so are the tutorials. My only suggestion is it would be worth commenting at the start of the video whether the feature subject is only available in Plus design build or Plusspec also.
    Keep up the good work.

Thanks Richard, it's a good point, we made some edits to the heading and description, yet I will pass on the feedback.
Andrew does these videos in one go without editing as he is busy driving better development, however, we all agree; PlusSpec pro-VS PlusDeisgnBuild should be clearer at the start of videos and will be from now on in.

This is Very True, we've seen a 10% reduction in the number of 1st time home buyers loan applications for January 2022.

Hi guys, we will soon be making a few updates to the wood framing wall panel tool. If you'd like to have some input, check the latest forum post here: forum.plusspec.com/t/carpenter-framer-shop-drawing-input-needed-for-wood-frame-shop-drawing-detailing-plusdesignbuild/49969

Great video. It is extremely clever. I’m keen to see if it can work for custom components or cladding materials.

When doing the framing we normally place the studs to allow for 1200 mm wide lining. This means that the stud spacing from the second stud onwards would be spaced at the required intervals. However, the spacing between the 1st and 2nd stud should be half the stud thickness (22.5 mm) less than the required spacing to accommodate the 1200 mm wall lining. By doing this it is possible to get a stud centred at every 1200 mm where at the moment is on 1155mm. Is it possible to set the stud spacing? accordingly?

You can start the alignment of studs from different locations across multiple points in a wall. Right click the wall> click +wall> in not in front of the computer now but I'm pretty sure it's "align studs with rafters/joists" Neil if you've already created your panelization drawings go back to the wall panelization tool, click delete scenes, the recreate. This will re dimension the walls according to the new stud alignment.

@@AadbuildDesignBuild Thanks mate, unfortunately not the solution for my dilemma

@@nedsprojectsltd5707 Hi Neil, If you buy imperial sheets they are 1220 x2440 or 2740 (4ft) but to answer your question, yes I agree the first joist or stud should be half the distance of the member thickness back so the sheet joins on the stud.
However the answer above is also correct. All you have to do is click the first stud after the junction and click and align the stud with the right hand side of the stud this will then move the followings studs back half of the section size and all ply sheeting will then join on studs.
Neil you can also double studs up. In Australia there is a minimum distance for bracing nails from the edge of stud and I'm pretty sure it 25mm and 50mm centres on the bottom and top plat and 150c/c up the studs. Unfortunaly 70mm studs are expensive... I hope all is well mate.

@nedsprojectsltd5707 Wouldn't you batten it out? that's why the battens don't align with the studs. They work from the outside of the first stud at your desired spacing.

Question from a newbie, Is it possible that the software calculates automatically the extra studs where the interior walls are connecting with the exterior walls (sry for my bad english)

    • @PlusSpec
      @PlusSpec  2 года назад +1

Hi There! We have a Junction tool you can really quickly add in the extra studs for quantification, see tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/wNtzl_85qmU/видео.html
