IMPORTANT CORRECTION: As many of you have helpfully pointed out, I've been a dingus and said that these monitors are passive @2:04. This is not correct. These are ACTIVE studio monitors, and because I scripted it "Because these are not passive studio monitors" rather than "Because these are active studio monitors", I made a slip of the tongue and called these passive.
BubVisuals so i need a interface??
Left is active right is passive to be precise
You were correct originally they are really ‘powered speakers’ effectively passive they are not proper active speakers as they don’t have an active crossover and separate amps for each speaker.
Richard Strange nope.. they’re an active speaker set. I imagine it’s written on the box.

What camera did you use? Love the frame looks
I thought I was watching a movie
1:16 Sticking all the vibration pads together as they came in the film instead of spacing them around the corners triggered me way too much lmao
it's to improve the bounce effect.
@@zexalex what’s the bounce effect?
We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ruclips.net/user/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
Just received mine yesterday! And your recommendation definitely helped me make my decision. You are right, the sound is definitely a tad harsh and on the treble heavy side. But the bass packs a decent punch as well. Overall very happy with the purchase ☺️
i just got them in the mail . i love them and your channel is helping me build my channel , so thank you ! much love from atlanta!
This is awesome. Thanks so much!
Thanks a lot, still really enjoying these speakers
4me one of this?
Csn i have a test sample?
still love your speakers
One of the best reviews (for Eris speaker) made so far..
i dont think i have ever been so certain i was going to subscribe to someone in such a short amount of time.
Haha cheers man

Excellent, you gave me the exact info I needed in regards to music production scenarios. Thank you.
Almost can't believe that you were just aiming for 3k subs at the time. The quality of this video is amazing, good job!
I started using the 4.5 for music production but now I use them for my turntable also! I like the idea that I'm listening to hopefully something close to what the artist listened to before they released the album.
Neutral may not always be flat. The EQ is there for tuning to your room.
I think there are no mid controls on the monitors so I guess you are refferring to some kind of software? What software would you use to EQ your monitors?
@@fotissk3076 Honestly I just mix at a consistently low fixed Sound Pressure Level and my mixes translate really well that way. It's always been crazy to me that so many home studio monitors only have a 2 band EQ (Highs&Lows) when the soul of music lives in the Midrange..........
I believe they mostly only have a 2 band EQ because they are controlling the low frequency speaker and high frequency speaker volume rather than being some kind of EQ curve.
@@fotissk3076 Sonarworks, chek em
@@kriscody3577 sorry if i sound like a newb, but what is a low fixed sound pressure level? and would you recommend these for a beginner rap producer?
Great video man, thanks a lot! You should place some books under the speakers to have the tweeters at ear level. Happy holidays!
you gotta love that intro, wish more youtubers put that much effort into their videos
New viewer here. I like the intro! Good quality production overall. I was surprised only 7.9k subscribers... Here, one more!... I would like to see a step up budget wise, 100-200$ maybe!? Keep up the good work.
Thanks, and I'm actually making one of those soon haha
Oh mennn this was the best 6 min that i have ever seen on YT so far. That editing is fuckin dope. Bravo
You deserve way more subs keep, keep up the good work
Thanks
Hehe... subs... monitors... he
Thanks for the review, I'm new to online production, taking my singing lessons online due to Covid, and I need all the help I can get! So your vid was both entertaining and really helpful!
the absolute quality of your videos is such a breath of fresh air on here. the talent!! whew!
Honestly, this is incredible content. Idk man, high quality stuff, bravo
I think what makes these speakers a MIRACLE is the 1" dome tweeter at this price point. This is something you usually don't get unless you've spent $200+. Since they have such a large dome tweeter, they can put most of the frequency range through the tweeter which helps A LOT with the clarity.
sorry I am very new to this so might be a stupid question. if my mixer has XLR outs can I 2x use a mic cables (XLR female to jack) to connect speakers? Or when I buy XLR to jack cable how do I know it is a balanced cable?
Do these monitors come with a UK plug? I've seen reviews on amazon saying that theres came with a US plug.
Video was clean, but you sealed the deal for this sub when you played Xavier Wulf for your audio sample
Hollow Squad
I swear lol
The fact that you played wulf..... you have earned a sub good sir
Hey guys! Am I gonna need audio interface to connect this to my Mac? (It's for my midi controller mainly)
What do you think - Can I plug my electric guitar to my Scarlett Solo and output the sound fairly well through these monitors via RCA? Thanks!
i just ordered these for mixing and i'm so excited :) great vid
iris olympia same, I get mine tomorrow. Let me know how it is and how you connect to your audio interface and computer. I'm a noob
Scroopy Noopers they are super nice! I’ll usually connect them to my laptop and then set the audio output of the DAW i’m using to the speakers but the input to the interface. Just make sure you’re not using input monitoring if you have a mic plugged in because that will hurt haha
4:26 holy damn this sounds great
HELP!
what if i want to add another woofer speaker? where will i connect it? is it to eris 3.5 itself or to my interface (behringer umc22) ? thank you
if I use these from my interface main L and R outputs to the desired speaker, then do I need the speaker wire the runs between my 2 presonus eris 3.5 speakers? Did the speakers come with the 2, 1/4 inch TRS cables?
Bro! Love the editing & shots! Great job spicing up a review video!
Thanks a lot man
LOVE that you included a scarlxrd song 🖤
I’m planning on using these for my turntable (lp60). Do you think the subwoofer on these will be fine? I also have an old subwoofer I can use, but i would probably need to hook it up to a receiver, right?
Thanks for the great review! Was looking at several different makes and models and your review sealed the deal. Just ordered a pair.
Thanks for the review.
Wondering, is it possible to reduce the harshness in cases when I want to relax from my audio production work and just listen to some music? Does the treble knob behind the speaker help? What if I move farther away instead of being in the "sweet triangle", does the harshness go away?
I'm looking for something small-size, neutral sounding, monitor-ish, but that could also be used for normal casual listening.
So are they good for (only) casual listening?
I was hyped when you played Oliver and Xavier
I’m struggling with space. Think going from hs7s to a pair of these I wouldn’t feel too lacking? I would also get the 8 inch sub to help with low end. I don’t have any sub with my hs7s currently. Thanks
Hi, is the Bluetooth latency noticeable when you play something connected via midi like a midi keyboard?
Damn this video is edited soo welll
Keep it up!
you got my sub bro, im waiting on mine to arrive . great heads up!
SO THEY WORKING GOOD?
How are they?
Yo Daddy their great 👍 and still work as good as they did when I first got them . Lol
@@lightyearz nice long term review! Lol
@@Draakjedodo thanks lol I’m using them now. They are great for a beginner like me. I can now hear what I’ve been doing wrong bass wise . My 808s use to sound off when I would go to the car and listen to my finished track but now I know studio monitors are a must when producing and these are helping me a lot. Haven’t had a problem yet. I got mine from Zzounds.com in a presonus bundle.
how can i connect them with xlr? whats the name of the small 3 pin port on the back of them?
18 seconds in and I know you deserve my sub, video production is awesome man
Hi. Do you use an interface with this, and will they sound great just by directly connecting them to a laptop?
I have used these both with and without an interface, and the sound is great with both
They sound great even with Xiaomi phone!
You get an upvote for including Xavier wulf in the examples hahaha.
You mentioned these are harsh on the highs. Do you find this causes you to make editing decisions that could impact overall sound on more balanced speakers or the way the final mix sounds on media devices?
Could I connect these to my xbox one x? I have two monitors on the way which I’ll be gaming on and the speakers on them suck.
You're underrated.
I switched pretty much everything to presonus... Best thing I've done with my studio so far! From their DAW to devices, absolutely fantastic!
Interesting.. still presonus??
?
Hi there! In my budget $150. Which speaker for music production. My room about 16m2. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks
Well done review! Really nice production and no bullshit. Thank you for doing quality work!
I’ve watched maybe 20 Eris 3.5 reviews and not one of them has failed to say that they are exceptionally great monitors. What product can say that?
You got me at the SCARLXRD you’ve earned a sub
haahah, same) but not only for that
The cinematography at the start was nice, very good production quality.
If you use tone controls to reduce treble, does harshness go away?
Great review! I think I will buy them or the 4inchers. These Mackies CR are nice, too, but I think they lie! Only, you might wanna add that these are more monitor-like then multi-media. Therefore if you say they pack a punch people expect a pronounced bass and bathtub/low mids eq! They don't understand that in recording you want a linear response. Cheers
dude for this ammount of subs your editing is so fckn dope ! better than 95% of +1M youtubers
is this good for metal guitar plugins ? I am new to all this. I bought some equipment focusrite interface shure mic and headphones. I use Ableton live and positive grid plugins for guitar. But I need monitor speakers headphone is good but giving me headache after a couple of hours.
Great review and your production sounds real professional. I just ordered a pair on Amazon for $139'00 Canadian.
shawnfel kent on thomann it’s 98€ which is like 85$ canadian
After owning a set for about 3 years using them daily they are not bad for the money. Only thing is recently a few months ago the power switch started getting mushy and fell apart. But I feel like stepping up to the 4.5s at time of purchase is a better idea since there are times when they fall short.
How about the bass? Can u feel it good to dj on it?
@@cmadlr Pretty good for the size. That is the only reason why I say get the 4.5s. At times the 3.5s feel lacking in bass.
bro when I saw the quality of the video editing I INSTANTLY subscribed!!!! I have a question tho: is the sound flat????
what is the resolution of this video? was it made on an ultrawide monitor?
Thank you for this review Young Blonde Skrillex
if these are passive speakers, what's the on/off switch doing there, that's a active speaker ,
I like how small and simple it is, but there's not much bass in there, choice of colour too is limited to black...
Yeah, I corrected that in the comments. These are active.
@Kushest I think he said you don't need an amp because they are active
Hey do you use an audio interface ? They sound very detailed when they are connected to an audio interface like scarlet
is what we need a soundcard and the speakers is connecting with jack cable ?
i bought mine right after i watched your video
How good are they?
1:17 I think you're supposed to cut those in 4 pieces and glue them at all 4 corners of the base.. That way, the speakers are more stable
Yeah, I did haha. I was too busy trying to get the shot at the time
Are these monitors good for mixing techno music? Do I need to get an audio interface? How can I connect the monitores to my laptop? Thank you.
Would you suggest these for producing hip-hop or should I go for the larger 4.5 model?
I put a like for the ultra wide content. Oh the review was good too. XD
I have a real janky ass system with some real janky ass speakers but it sounds phenomenal with some crisp highs, some very pleasing mids and the most sexiest bass line from a 10” and a box I built with my uncle
Kareem if it works its good brother. I sadly have shitty ass acoustics so i need to move everything to another room
I NEED TO KNOW. The left (powered) speaker is louder than the (non powered) right speaker. Is this normal? It's at least 10-20% quieter/louder at lower volumes.
If I connect the trrs cable to the phone via the headphone input on the front of the loudspeaker, will I be able to record the sound directly to the phone and at the same time listen to music from the speakers, thank you for your help, The speakers will be connected to the tablet from which the music will go via Rca-jack 3.5
HOLLOWSQUAD !! 😤🤘💯
mans added in some SCARLXRD what a g lmao
whether they are suitable for the attention of eekronnuyu music, and how much approximately square meters are needed for these speakers.
I just started investing in a home studio and I got this !! I’m so excited
Presonus are the best in all combined , DAW , Monitors ,sound cards , mixers , condensers this company is perfect
Skull Fucker - I’ve used a lot of Presonus gear over the years. SL consoles, VSL pres/I-O’s, Faderport, Eris E8’s...
I think it’s reasonable to say that they are likely the best... in their price class. But being “the best for the money” doesn’t make them “the best”.
Beyond using the various products I mentioned above, I’ve also used Neve, API, SSL, Neumann, AKG, Apogee, Cranesong, Dynaudio’s, Genelec, ...
Any piece of audio gear in the budget range can sound “the best” to you, if you’ve not had a chance to use, hear, and compare it to something better.
I’m not saying that Presonus doesn’t make good gear - they do... for the money that it costs, you’d be hard pressed to find better. But “the best”?
Hmmm... no, not so much.
@@donnythompson408 well i had dyna audio monitors, an motu audio express audio card and i really liked better the itwo and my pair or eris e3.5 s , for even the lowest budget i got a better result .. so in some product comparisons they can even compete with motu and dyna audio . And its a matter of taste aswell
I was like WTF is this a 6-minute add
Hi, how are those for gaming and movies/music on pc ? I am not intrested in music edditing
great review! My mackie cr3 broke and I look for similarly sized speakers to replace those. These seem the best. There is also e4.5 but it's almost twice expensive and a bit bigger.
How is the bass on e3.5? Is there enough of it for games and movies? Does the bass dial on the back helps? I just want to use them as computer speakers and for playing on ps4
Thank you for playing scarlxrd.. that’s exactly why I’m watching this video lol
XavierWulf babyyyyyy
Idk if it’s a dumb question, but are they compatible with a turntable?
Hello! Can I use does monitors with a Scarlett 3 focusrite solo studio ?
I really feel it needs repeating. Studio monitors are the *wrong* choice for casual listening. They aren't designed for that. They are designed to be super precise for drilling into dense mixes and finding frequencies to enhance or supress, Probably the greatest Studio monitors of all time where the Yamaha NS10s. They are also renowned for being absolutely awful for casual listening. The music, the games, the video you consume are usually mastered so they sound best on conventional consumer Hifi speakers. If you want to listen as the artist intended, get *good* Hi-Fi speakers, NOT monitors. If your recording music or whatever, get Monitor speakers. Final tip. Part of what makes monitors ill suited for casual listening is the fact they focus the audio to a point in front of them where the sound will be most in phase and have the correct levels. Sitting outside that position, the quality rapidly degrades compared to regular HiFi speakers designed to throw the music around the whole room. If your recording music find out where that sweet spot is, and arange the speakers so when your working, thats where your head will be.
u mean Yamaha NS10s was the worst? lmao
@@focaalexandr7536 Its probably the best studio monitor of all time. Its also an absolutely miserable home stereo speaker
@@shayneoneill1506 lol best? r u high?
@@focaalexandr7536 Yes, theres a reason they are the industry standard and you'll find them in almost every major studio on the planet. I really don't quite understand why you think otherwise? Whats your specific beef with them?

how the hell do you only have 4k subs????
Anyone know what thickness the pairing cable is? I lost mine and need to order a new one
Which one do you suggest 3.5 or 4.5 for music production?
My first reaction when I heard the sound: *BLOODY HELL*
is that good?? orrr???
Lol ialready have that speaker its so strong
DyLaN885 do you use it for music production? I’m heavily considering getting a pair.
Alri my friend.. Thanks for this great video bro.. I am in the process of setting up my own little home studio and I was going to get these but I changed my mind. Watching and hearing ur great review has changed my mind right now and I'm going to get them tonight.
I'm a noob to the music production game but I will learn as I go bro. I wanted to ask u if u have ever used Bitwig studio or Bitwig 8 track?? Have u made any videos about setting up a DAW with a MIDI CONTROLLER and AUDIO interface with laptop, etc. I guess I'm being a wee bit cheeky asking u this but its just bcos I am struggling atm. Thanks for this video all the same bro. U helped me make my mind up now. Laters bro. I loved that tune u played last there. That was great sounding
Is it enough for begginer mixers ?
Isso it flat enough?
Would someone give me an opinion on it vs mackie cr3/yamaha hs5/ and similar ones...
These speakers are nice, I have had them for like a year, but they are simply too small. I agree they are the best studio monitors for under $100, but in that price range I honestly think you are better off mixing with headphones or even computer speakers with a sub. When using these 3.5 inch woofers, the bass is nonexistent and you will need to use headphones to mix basslines or kick drums anyway. The sound is incredible and very detailed, but I just cannot mix if I cannot hear the bass. Tldr > great for the price, but you are better off with $100 monitor headphones than $100 studio monitors
Bro, everything about this is so true. I have to sound proof my room just to get the low end to be prominent or I have to stand in the back of my room to hear them. LOL good speakers but not for mixing and mastering music.
@@DreadedYasuke Thank you for this, i was looking for this comment, i wont buy
can't you just buy a woofer? yes yes you can
I mean yeah, I dont think these are really made to be used for mixing without a sub. Any serious studio should have a subwoofer for low end. If you're expecting 3.5" drivers to produce stuff like 30hz then physics has bad news for you...

because they are treble heavy, would you recommend that you boost the bass slightly on the eq on the speaker?
