To clarify on Abbey, the reason why she has the fur is because her family has a Yak farm. She mentions it frequently in the webseries when she’s first introduced. The string is a tieback to “caveman” clothing which was string and fur. Her design is meant to have references to “primitive” winter fashion. I personally really love her gen 1 design. It gives a subtle nod to the Siberian origin of the Yeti.

I really like this a lot. I heard someone say something like "You made her white again" but Cleo was never really white in the series, you could tell she had a darker skin tone in the series and that didn't make her "white". I'm not a big fan of anyone changing any character's skin colors at all really, so when the show did that to Cleo it kind of gave me bad vibes. Yes, more black representation needs to happen, but don't wash over original characters to paint their skin color the way you want it to be. A lot of lighter-skinned minorities have less representation in media and I think people need to stop taking light-skinned minorities and making their skin color darker or just changing their races all together, the same way with darker-skinned minorities and making their skin lighter. Create your own original characters and choose their skin color, don't wash over other characters that already have a specified skin color and race because it kind of just sends a bad message altogether.
Yeah I was a bit disappointed that they changed cleos skin color in g3. Don’t get me wrong, she looks beautiful, but Cleo has always been one of the few middle eastern representation I got as a kid, and it was really nice to have a character that looked a bit similar to me. But now she looks more like a south asian or hispanic character
Ngl this mentality that light skin = white needs to f*cking die like NOW. These be the same ppl calling anime characters white because they don't look stereotypically asian
you somehow managed to "un-egypt" cleo (I love the design on its own but I feel like you should have done a bit of research and implemented ancient egyptian clothing a bit into her design because Cleo heavily ties into egyptian culture, but on its own, the design is cute :) )
Watched your first video on this redesign's series, now, watching the second part, i know i'm a little late but I have to say... I'm glad I found your channel! Again, your designs turned out wonderful 👏🤧 Had me imagining your Cleo & Deuce's designs being actual dolls AND coming as a couple in a MH toy box... How cool that would be! Side note 1: when I was younger, I didn't like Ghoulia's aesthetic that much, but now that I'm older, I can say that I was sooo wrong as a child lol Ghoulia just slaps bro Side note 2: I also never understood Abbey's gen 1 style, but overall I really liked it. The aesthetic of fur, boots, crystals and ice just hit different I prefer much more your designs, here, have all my love 😭🫴❤️
I’m not the biggest fan of you making Cleo white again, I mean the real Cleopatra was Roman but it’s obvious that MH was just going for a good name choice, but having an Egyptian character look Egyptian and actually have more things based on Ancient Egypt was one of thing good things that came out of the new gen.
Hello! I respectfully disagree with you that I drew Cleo "white again", I did use her G1 designs as most of my inspiration and used the exact colors for her skin and other parts of her. I don't think G1 Cleo is white, yes she is lighter than G3 Cleo but skin tones come in all different colors for every ethnicity! I do agree though that G3 did very well with Cleo's new design and putting more of that Ancient Egyptian influence in it. For my redesign I went with a more modern business look with her outfit, and slight Egyptian symbols, admittedly I could've put more in there and would love to do so in the future whenever I draw Cleo again! Thanks for the suggestion though!
The problem with drawing guys is that their is barley any fashion for guys and as a guy I take offense to that their is so much fashion for girls and not enough for guys so when drawing them you got to really experiment
