- I'll probably do a more thoughtful analysis once the expo is done, I missed some stuff but I just wanted to get my general thoughts out now. Which is 'in shambles'. Aside from that, if your attending the Newark show, keep an eye out for me!

Sign the refund petition and be apart of the class action lawsuit if it goes though, or do a chargeback on your credit card if you can or want to, They need to realize they can't pull this bullshit without financial repercussions

I went to miku expo in Portland and I can say for myself I had so much fun, but at the same time I am so angry.
Yes, there was a screen and yes it was small, it was my first concert and I was mostly unbothered by the screen when I first arrived but now looking back it makes me so angry.
Also btw addressing the merch situation the merch sales started at 2PM, reminder that the show starts at 9pm. I had vip and the whole point of buying it was to get early access to merch since I wasn’t able to get a glow stick but because of this and them not telling us merch was available to the public at the same time there was pretty much no reason to get vip
Right? My partner and I both got VIP for the early access to the venue and merch, and hearing that wasn't being honoured was like ????? I'm glad you had fun though, that's the most important part!
The saddest part is that for many people, This was their FIRST CONCERT. They have no idea what the actual experience is supposed to be like!!!

I hope the outrage ensures that this never happens again, at least not without clarification beforehand that a hologram won't be present. If it was known before tickets went on sale that it'd be a LED screen, I'd still be disappointed but it's better than having to find out from people who saw it themselves. It feels like Crunchyroll was purposefully avoiding making a statement or something going, "By the way, the holograms that these shows are so famous for that they've become the bare minimum of what to expect? Yeah we don't have those this time."
A company learning from their mistakes AND owning up to them while making improvements based of those prior mistakes? Man I wish, Crunchyroll could never..... unless
I am thoroughly glad I was able to see hologram Miku and the other Crypton vocaloids when she came to Los Angeles and New York, for Miku Expo in 2014. It was only her 2nd time in America at the time and it was just as amazing as all the concerts they had in Japan. It was a dream come true for my 13 year old self
I definitely wanna see that in the future, it's sounds so much fun!
"World is mine" is pretty much an entrance gateway for many people into Vocaloid. So is mine. I went to the Miku expo 2024 in Vancouver, it is pretty prevalent as it was the one song that people sing to at the concert.
Add: it was pretty disappointing that it was a LED TV.
I can’t imagine a vocalist concert with World is Mine playing. That and electric angels were my first vocaloid songs and they live rent free in my brain

April 9th San Jose survivor here. The TV looks awful in pics and videos, but is surprisingly pretty good in person. It was my first time going to a Miku concert, much like you, but even going with lowered expectations, it was an absolute blast! The band is fantastic, the crowd was super energetic, and it was a great all around experience. I do agree that Crunchyroll and CFM need to answer for what happened this year though.
I want next year to be even better!

Miku Expo April 9th Attendee here! To make sure I got merch, I had to get there at 10 am, but on the 8th people who were there at 6 am got screwed over because MX fucked up and kept moving the line. Also on the 8th they had fucked up the lines, making 3 different GA lines that allowed people to cut the line and skip so many people.
Also fun fact we witnessed a car crash at my location. Stolen car and hit and run, VIP line was almost hit and it was just fucking wild.
I do agree the blending of the stage was better but still jarring, and for a couple of songs the model changed completely which kinda broke the immersion. Also the band members were still in the cage, Atleast when I was there.
I had a fun time because of the people, live music, and seeing myvirtual idol perform, but I’m still disappointed in the set list and how this was handled.
I was recording before the whole car crash situation, and I found out about it while I was editing. I was maulding at this new info lmao, there's too much stuff happening!
The hit and run was such a wild thing to have happen literally RIGHT THERE. I did have fun collecting all the parts the car left along the road tho. Nice little pile of oily plastic for the PD to pick up lmao

@@renegaderabbitstudios101 at that point everyone touched the car pieces lol. Everyone was taking turns taking pictures with that license plate and someone even took it home. According to Twitter they turned it in to authorities because it was a hit and run and they could you know, get into major trouble. Definitely not something I had on my Miku expo bingo card.
this whole thing reminds me of the whole Willy wonka experience in Glasgow but instead of an overpriced 2 minute ai generated party city warehouse of underpaid actors and confused families it’s a crunchyroll funded 0 effort 500 dollar mediocre even with VIP Hatsune Miku movie night similar to that of the really sad party your elementary school throws if they reach their canned food donation goal and it’s SCARING ME

Glow sticks are so unreasonably hard to get if you didn’t pre order. Merch lines at the venue are near impossible if you don’t go there 5 hours early. I went to the pop up in Pomona hoping to get a light stick. They only brought 30…. Only 1/4 of the line through and it sold out in 20 minutes and I didn’t get one. Felt so defeated and bought a cheap Temu one and painted it black💀

Crypton officially responded to Business Insider and stated that the entire NA and European tour will be LED
Business insider? What is that, a magazine? They really should make that like a public post on something else, especially because of how the whole tour was advertised 😑

It’s not that Japan has it better than America for the concerts. They had the hologram at the 2016 and 2018 expos in NA. It’s just crunchy roll.
It's basically Cruchyroll, but Japan does do a lot more stuff for the Miku concerts than anyone else internationally does. I hope someday we'll see that level of love for Miku over here

I’m going to the Detroit show. What I’ve been seeing has been upsetting and the anger at Crunchyroll is justified, I know I’ll have fun there. I’ve always wanted to go to a Miku concert; and whether it’s on the LCD screen or not, this concert is a dream come true

I only watched a little bit of the video but it's giving dashcon and like this would be the 4th time this happened? I don't remember what the second one was but the third one was Wonka experience. The first one was dashcon ofc with the dashcon ballpit. I'm not a big vocaloid fan I haven't super gotten into it but sorry for comparing this to dashcon LMAO

Honestly, I'm a little scared that this is going to happen to the tour in Europe but... It's rare for us to have a vocaloid concert so maybe it's worth it either way? I don't know... it would be my first ever concert but I just hope the best and I think I'll have a great time. Screen Miku or hologram Miku... at least we have Miku, right? We'll just try to enjoy it and be together as fans

Me and my best friend wanted to go to Miku Expo this year but unfortunately we both changed jobs suddenly around the same time period, and my car broke down so we decided we weren't going to be able to go. After seeing the feedback online though, it seems like maybe it was a good thing. I've heard mixed things about the venues (especially the merch lines being terrible) so I really hope Miku Expo 2025 is better. I want to see Miku (and Rin!!!!) on stage one day without having to empty my entire wallet. The Miku artwork here is adorable btw! Great video :3
If you want a current update, as for the Texas shows, the merch wasn’t any better :( we kinda got snubbed because they added a new date for the expo which was the 24th and the original day was the 25th and the merch that was meant to be for the 25th show got sold at the 24th show and everyone that went to the original date didn’t get enough merch for everyone :/

I love your art. it's making me also want to make stickers to give out at the one I'm going to, they may not look as cute as yours though haha. For the glowsticks, I'm pretty sure they allow chemical glowsticks that aren't longer than 6", so I'm thinking about getting some of those before the concert in case I can't get an official glowstick just so I have something. My show is also one of the last ones so I'm hoping (coping really hard) that they'll have the usual projections or at least a better set up by then. Even if they don't, I think I'll still have fun

I almost purchased tickets for the Orlando Show at the Walt Disney Theater. I’m honestly glad I didn’t. Here’s to hoping that Crypton actually delivers a better Miku Expo experience next year.

I went to San Jose day 2 and this was my first Miku concert. San Jose day 2 had a lot of stock of Glowsticks with them having 6 boxes of Glowsticks (570) in stock for day 2. We all bonded and laughed with all the chaos like the car crash that happened, we all cheered for Elmo before the show started and still disappointed about the LED, but I will say it looks much better in person and was enjoyable. Most people in SJ just accepted the fact it was LED and said we are going to have fun anyways. I am sure you are going to enjoy it
I’m glad to hear their stocking more glow sticks and everyone was having fun! This gives me a little bit of hope we’ll see more improvements soon
at san jose day one apparently they cut the merch line at 5:30 am, luckily i was able to get everything i wanted bc i lined up on day two but like, man (also they only had 30 of each wristband)

It's completely understandable, I was pretty devastated too. Right now all we can do it try to see the best in the situation until Crunchyroll answers for their crimes against the fans
First they fumbled Ado's entire world tour by booking her in tiny club venues that sold out within 30 minutes each. Now this. Crunchyroll needs to be checked they can't get away with all this

I was waiting for the glowsticks and when I arrived there, they SOLD OUT!! But I still enjoyed the show even though it was my first Miku Expo I been to!!

My friend bought tickets to Miku Expo Europe on my behalf (and someone else), i repaid my friend, got transferred the tickets and i was so excited!! We got a hotel and everything, and got standing tix because any other option was so expensive and we’re students.
I’ve only just heard about all of this, and as a very short person who has literally never been to a concert before, i’m pretty worried. Miku looks tiny on the screen, i have no idea how i’m going to see her if they keep with the decision to have an LED screen. At least there’ll be talented musicians and banging music.

My friend went to it and said: “Yeah that’s what it was, but it still was pretty fun”
Their message felt a little empty though… Mainly because they didn’t really mention anything as to why it was fun. I’m not sure if they were trying to tell me that to assure me everything was fine (I felt really bad for them and wanted to be supportive) or if they were telling themselves that to have a better memory. They might have only said that because they didn’t want to say anything bad about Miku. If they really did have fun though, then I’m glad! Hope everyone else had fun too regardless!

I know nothing about vocaloids or cartoons as singer. I just thought it would be a cool concert to go to. I will be going tonight. I guess it is disappointing that it will be a screen and not a hologram. But it is what it is
You should definitely look into it! Vocaloid is a pretty fun rabbit hole to dive into, there’s a lot of funny lore there
When we went, we were let in early for VIP. We went in at 6 and normal tickets got in at 7. We were wandering around and asking staff where the merch store was, because we'd been saving to go buy things and maybe get light sticks. NOBODY would tell us where it is. Some how none of the staff (who had just worked for the concert literally the day before) knew where it was. Any of the fans we asked there also magically didn't know. So we got our seats and enjoyed the show. It was only afterwards that we were leaving did we finally get an answer from one of the staff that the merch store was opened to EVERYONE at 2. No where near when the doors opened or show started. It opened at 2 oclock and sold out immediatley because the few people that could find it (it was in a seperate building away from everything) bought everything and are reselling it highly priced.
There's a merch area in the concert building...a section specifically made to be used to seel merch, a massive room with shelving and everything. And they didn't use it. Instead it was hidden down the road around the corner in a SEPARATE building and open at 2 way earlier than everything else. So we never got to even SEE the merch store. So glad we got VIP bags at least and got SOMETHING from the show. I was just gonna get one of those small pins and leave it at that, just as something to remember and show like "Hey look, I went to the Miku expo!" but no. Somehow everyone was ignorant to where it was, even the people WHO HAD MERCH.
I was somehow more upset about that than the screen. It was frustrating. We didn't mind the screen though because we were close to the front and got to see it better. I had told my friend that it may not be a hologram since they don't use any social media and we just said we'd have fun no matter what. And we did. The graphics and models are amazing up close, but I can't imagine how difficult it must've been to see from the back. In the end we had fun and messed with the crowd. Met some nice people next to us who just came from the shows in Japan who gave us some stickers they were handing out. For my first concert ever it wasn't a bad one, would definently go again, screen or not!
I went to thw Phoenix one and it was a TV too. The rumor for night one is they had issues with the TV, a huge dead portion down the center of the TV. But i went to night 2 and it was fixed.

I do agree with you that the live band carries a lot of the show. The LED TV wasn't that bad on my end especially with the lighting and stage fog, but regardless it could have been better. My friend and I still enjoyed the show and the song list was a lot of bangers.

I have tickets to the october performance in the UK, and i am kinda hoping they either 1) make the screen bigger or 2) make her a hologram as promised. But we know crunchyroll by now, thats probably not going to happen. It wont help with the fact it is the O2 Wembley arena (btw those who had O2 priority got early access tickets a few hours before the crunchroll ones...) This is also my first Miku thing im going to so im pretty nervous already...
they stated they’re using the LED screen for Europe aswell, so ur only hope is them making the screen bigger😓

as someone who regretted not getting a ticket for miku expo when it was announced, i'm honestly glad i didn't go. but i still feel terrible for the fans who spent their money anticipating the amazing hologram technology only to be met with a stupid TV screen and the barely shown live band (which could only be properly seen in a few of the venues sadly.) it's even worse that they used the same screen for miku's coachella stage which just added salt into the wound. let's not even mention the thousands of non-vocaloid fans who are basically making fun of fans for this whole experience or the mainstream news articles claiming that miku is an "AI generated singer" which just puts down all of the amazing vocaloid producers who spend so much of their time having to tune the vocals and create the music. this year's miku expo was such an embarrassment to us fans and i can only hope the class action lawsuit go through smoothly with a good outcome :(

i went to the san jose miku expo with my friends, it was my first miku concert and i had a good time! my glowstick must be broken or something though. in comparison to everyone else’s glowsticks the yellow and orange are more orange/reddish than they should be, and the pink isn’t even pink it’s just straight up red, there’s barely a difference when i change the color from what’s supposed to be pink to red 😭 some of the glowsticks even glowed purple instead of pink 💀
