I was wondering about this for quite some time, and I think I truly have an answer. Without the talisman, Dimitri's soul...essence(?) is still within Soma's being, likely poisoning his mind, and allowing hatred to overwhelm Soma that he becomes Dracula once more. With the talisman, Dimitri's evil presence doesn't have as strong of a hold on Soma, delaying Cecilia's process just long enough for Alucard to intervene at the nick of time. While Alucard's comments in the English and Japanese spell it out, the in-game Japanese description on the item itself states that it holds back evil presences. Additional Info Edit: Dimitri, if you equipped the talisman and Alucard's intervention, comments that Soma's immense shift of emotions away from hatred released him to merge with the Doppelganger. Which lends credence to my theory that he was intentionally poisoning Soma's heart with hate, which would've succeeded in transforming him into Dracula if he didn't put on the talisman.
And in much the same way that Soma is the reincarnation of Dracula, Mina is the reincarnation of Dracula's second wife (and Adrian's/Alucard's mother) Lisa, who was a reincarnation of Matthias' wife/Dracula's first wife, Elizabetha.

I and many others believe "Juius mode" is how the series should end... it's far more interesting then if you take the "good route"... plus it's more challenging, and more akin to classic castlevania and everything we love about it.
That might be a simpler way to say it. Though,I'll put in an explanation incase you were seeking an answer. Soma has the power of Dominance, the power to imitate the abilities of any demon he defeats. Dmitrii however, does not defeat his foes to copy them. Instead,I believe he just blocks to copy it. The support if you still do not believe me is that he copied the axe throw soul (idk what soul it is) and that should be clarified. Please don't kill me for putting an explanation here,I hope you understand my good intention.
Soma don't really "copy" powers (even he he does as a game mechanic) but enslave his foes. He straight up calls upon the demons souls for a really short amount of time. It's closer to a partial summoning
There is a small story of Death going to meet with Soma to confront him, where Soma rejects the role of dark lord once and for all, entirely ending the cycle of chaos linked to Dracula, and Death's servitude to Soma/Dracula.
Soma says that he'd lost all his abilities from Aria, but that's clearly not true. In Aria, he needed to gain souls to back dash, slide kick and dive kick. But in Dawn, the back dash and slide kick are parts of his natural moveset, and he can already dive kick as soon as he regains the ability to double jump. So clearly, he retained at least three of the souls he'd gained the year before.
that is a well researched, compact video of all the endings, thank you for creating this. I have not even found a one where there are all 3 endings cut together and this one even provides some further information here and there, great video.
Git, stop playing on New Game+. You're making Arikado look cool cause he gave Soma a giant a- oh wait that's probably your point. Also, apparently there was a manga or something that was a sequel to Dawn of Sorrow.
People sure do love to rag on the Sealing system for the bosses. I mean, while it is true that is was rather forced into the game, I actually rather liked it myself. Kind of felt like a final blow to finalize boss fights to me. But I guess it helps that I never really had trouble with it, even as a kid. With the exception of the 2nd to last seal (the last one was actually my favorite to do), I was able to remember all of them rather easily, even now. You usually had more than enough time to draw them out both before it actually started and the time to actually draw it out. Not to mention the actual drawing part is fairly lenient that even getting the general shape is enough for it to count. Even then, you're shown what seal to use and how it goes before even going into the boss room and you can practice them whenever you wanted. I guess I was just fortunate that it just clicked with me so easily. Anyway, enough about that. "Dawn of Sorrow" was basically my first "Castlevania" game, first that I owned and played start to finish anyway, and to this day it still remains my favorite entry to the series. I really wish this particular iteration of the series would return in some way someday. I want me some more Soma damn it. Speaking of Soma, here's a silly little story. Back when I first started the game as a kid, I misread his name as Some Klutz akin to some sort of title descriptor (like Lazy Man or Young Girl) which you'd see when talking to NPCs. I quickly caught onto that mistake since, you know, his name is brought up quite the bit but for the first couple minutes of the game, I really thought the game was calling Soma "some klutz".
i've somehow still never played any castlevania game, but it does seem like the sealing system would be fairly alright unless it's something like pinpoint drawing on that few-pixel-wide line. i think the animation that plays at the beginning kinda makes it a little memorable. oh man, silly name mistakes.
shame Koji Igarashi left Konami, but he has launched a Kickstarter campaign for his new project Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, a spiritual successor to Castlevania
well.............let's hope it won't end up like that. Bloodstained's demo is amazing though, feel like Order of Ecclesia and Symphony of the Night combined
David El Eslendercillo Always is not defined as one time. Mighty #9 may have been bad, but it's only problem was in it's execution. Another game of the same caliber may preform better.
I bought this game after hearing you talk about it in your last video. I loved it and actually finished it today with the best ending, but one thing made me think at the end. When Alucard said that Soma would not become the dark lord but "another" might, I immediately thought he was referring to himself. Could Alucard be panning on taking up the curse of being the dark lord?
I have the same suspicions. Thankfully, it's all conjecture in the end. Besides, Dracula's lasting replacement would probably end up being somebody evil from the get go.
21:24 W-What is this thing and why!? Seriously, Dawn of Sorrow, you were on the right track building up the rematch with Dmitrii, and you give us THIS instead!? Worse yet, the ironically named "Menace" is way too easy to be a final boss! But the worst part, it comes completely out of nowhere, has absolutely no bearing on the plot whatsoever, is over the top even for the series, and once it's defeated, no one ever mentions it again... BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT! ... I'm not apologizing.
Because it shows the true differences between Soma and Dimitrii, imitation is the biggest form of flattery which paves way to mediocrity, Soma’ soul is the only one who can handle the Power of Dominances, which is why Dimitrii became like that... his soul is not a Dark Lord, he’s just a rando who attempted to harness the power of chaos, demons, monsters and humans
OH SHIT. So, this is the one I lost? Welp. Gonna take a trip to gamestop, try to rummage through some bins, buy a DS... AND FINALLY. FINALLY. BEAT THIS GAME.
24:52 It would be the best A new castlevania game, with 3d sprites but keeping the 2d metroidvania genre (almost like symphony of the night) and all the story about dracula's defeat in 1999 If Konami does that ... i will get a sheer heart attack and f***ing die
This was my favorite Death boss fight, especially in Julius Mode because of how much of a challenge he was. I figured Death didn't have anything to say to someone who refused to become Dracula.
The reason why Dawn is more difficult than Aria, to me anyway, is because Soma somehow got drastically weaker in the time between games. He does start with nearly as much health, has nore recovery between weapon swings (there's only so much you can do to mitigate that) and damage in general is just lower overall. Enemies are, however, more or less the same power they were in Aria, so it actually makes things more overall balanced since you can't destroy everything in one-two swings as easily. And Killer Clown is just my favorite soul in general. But the Magic Seals are an unnescessary "last step" to me, so I don't feel the need to go back to this as often as Ecclesia or Portrait. (also, that portrait at the end of Julius mode is probably more creepy than most bad ending...)
I always got bothered by the fact that they don't even acknowledge that the "calamitous demon" Dmitrii absorbs, the one that had to be put behind so many layers of Hell and freaking Death and Abaddon to guard the way to it... ...is just Legion. I mean, look around you, it's still on his traditional arena of bodies and everything. And he wasn't that much of a powerful, let alone difficult creature to fight against, in the previous game, or in any Castlevania at all. Doesn't seem to make any sense that Legion was the breaking point for Dmitrii's capacity :V ...And I'm still kind of sore Legion soul didn't came over to this game as well. I miss steamrolling around with the triple tentacle laser...
pnyhmsmx From the angle that the plot was approaching this matter, could very well be. Still I'd prefer to have some context about it from Genya or Celia.
We need a most powerful character for Julius belmont. This BADASS is in FUCKING 50'S and manages to travel through the entire castle only relying on sub weapons until before Graham supposedly. MANAGES TO BE THE HARDEST BOSS IN AOS WHILE WILLING HOLDING BACK AS HE DESTROYS THE CASTLE WALL WITH GRAND CROSS. He fights most bosses AND DESTROYS THE SUPPOSEDLY INVINCIBLE BOSSES WITHOUT USING MAGIC SEALS, which Soma even stated "That should be impossible..." in dialog. And DESTROYS A BARRIER THAT NOT EVEN SOMA CRUZ HEIR OF DRACULA'S POWER OR ALUCARD SON OF DRACULA COULD BREAK. And can almost fight every boss Soma does in BOTH games. And just as a reminder this guy is 55 in Aos and 56 in Dos way past his prime. Imagine HOW FUCKING POWERFUL HE WOULD BE IN HIS PRIME DURING 1999

When I saw Mina say Mr Arikado, my mind immediately went to "Domo ARIKADO, Mrz Roboto"
I and many others believe "Juius mode" is how the series should end... it's far more interesting then if you take the "good route"... plus it's more challenging, and more akin to classic castlevania and everything we love about it.
Though, Julius' whip is actually classified as an equippable weapon in the game's code. There's no way to get it though.

so wait... he copied somas power... to copy powers???
vincent morgan
*Copyception*
That might be a simpler way to say it. Though,I'll put in an explanation incase you were seeking an answer.
Soma has the power of Dominance, the power to imitate the abilities of any demon he defeats. Dmitrii however, does not defeat his foes to copy them. Instead,I believe he just blocks to copy it. The support if you still do not believe me is that he copied the axe throw soul (idk what soul it is) and that should be clarified.
Please don't kill me for putting an explanation here,I hope you understand my good intention.
COPI
Soma don't really "copy" powers (even he he does as a game mechanic) but enslave his foes.
He straight up calls upon the demons souls for a really short amount of time. It's closer to a partial summoning
@@renookami4651 He steals monster's souls and makes them his slaves.
There is a small story of Death going to meet with Soma to confront him, where Soma rejects the role of dark lord once and for all, entirely ending the cycle of chaos linked to Dracula, and Death's servitude to Soma/Dracula.
so glad you covered the sorrow games, the pair is among my most enjoyed games in recent years.
You're making Arikado look cool cause he gave Soma a giant a-
oh wait that's probably your point.
Also, apparently there was a manga or something that was a sequel to Dawn of Sorrow.
What is the manga called?
GuyWhoWantsMoney GWWM
Akumajō Dracula: Kabuchi no Tsuisoukyoku.
As far as I know, Soma is not the main character of that manga.
That's not manga! That's a light novel!!!
HistoricaHungarica
CLOSE ENOUGH.
would have been funnier with the RPG
Soma: "Say hello to my little friend!"
“Come Forth my servants” *doot*
"Some Klutz" LMAO
24:59 Never underestimate the power of Fanmade games.
shame Koji Igarashi left Konami, but he has launched a Kickstarter campaign for his new project Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, a spiritual successor to Castlevania
well.............let's hope it won't end up like that. Bloodstained's demo is amazing though, feel like Order of Ecclesia and Symphony of the Night combined
^
" points at demon's souls, dark souls, bloodborne "
David El Eslendercillo Always is not defined as one time. Mighty #9 may have been bad, but it's only problem was in it's execution. Another game of the same caliber may preform better.
Do you think there's ever gonna be a day when Arikado just snaps and finally says: "I'm too old for this shit!"?
I love the theme "Demon Castle Pinnacle" in this game. Such a cool track.
1:57 "here soma, use this" tosses a knife pulls out a golden axe
Dimitrii's battle is completely gameable. Simply throw a cat at him and nothing else, and he'll be almost utterly helpless the entire fight.
i literally watched the entire series from here and fall in love with it
subbed
Before I played Aria Of Sorrow, I thought Julius was Yoko's father
Me: alright, I'm halfway done with this boss! just a few more hits and...
*phone goes off*
Me: CBE...
*The boss can wait*
When I first played this game I got the dark lord ending entirely by accident. It was pretty awkward.
I can't wait to see the inevitable bad end that'll happen in Bloodstained.
I love how in the conversation at 10:40, Genya Arikado doesn't have a reflection. Nice attention to detail ;)
Only Igarashi knows....
I have the same suspicions. Thankfully, it's all conjecture in the end. Besides, Dracula's lasting replacement would probably end up being somebody evil from the get go.
Cannibal Candy Good question.
Who exactly is the head of Konami right now?
We might wanna get rid of him while we still can...
Cannibal Candy I got it on an emulator and went straight away at it
13:29 that's what she said
12:51 Ah yes, the "Corridor of Waifu Baits"
I really hate they didn't have Ayami Kojima for the illustrative work, the anime-style in DoS looks choppy and shitty :(
honestly we need a 3rth soma game like lets face it just the ability to clone the ability of your target and keeping just opens up a lot of strats
Amazing how Castelvania makes so many levels you can skip by getting the simplest ending.
At least Soma dropped the fur coat, but that still doesn't excuse the turtleneck.
It s cold outside
WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU SAY ABOUT THAT COAT
What is a man? A miserable pile of fashion and secrets
Inaccurate Prophecy the fur coat is very cool
I love his pimp coat and turtle neck.
Pay attention to Soma's face at 14:35 when Celia is about to kill Mina(?), and then at 14:44. Take a look a Soma after Mina's(?) death.
Good eye.
Seeing that caused the color to drain out of him. And gave him undeathly pallor not unlike a vampire.
The way Celia laughs before vanishing reminds me of the Great Fairies in Zelda OOT and MM...
21:24
W-What is this thing and why!?
Seriously, Dawn of Sorrow, you were on the right track building up the rematch with Dmitrii, and you give us THIS instead!?
Worse yet, the ironically named "Menace" is way too easy to be a final boss!
But the worst part, it comes completely out of nowhere, has absolutely no bearing on the plot whatsoever, is over the top even for the series, and once it's defeated, no one ever mentions it again...
BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT!
...
I'm not apologizing.
Blazing Larvesta they probs made it weak to show off the difference in strength. either that, or a simple pattern.
You quoted The Quarter Guy.
Because it shows the true differences between Soma and Dimitrii, imitation is the biggest form of flattery which paves way to mediocrity, Soma’ soul is the only one who can handle the Power of Dominances, which is why Dimitrii became like that... his soul is not a Dark Lord, he’s just a rando who attempted to harness the power of chaos, demons, monsters and humans
what the commenter above said BUT Menace isn't even that easy compared to Aria's Chaos
OH SHIT.
So, this is the one I lost? Welp. Gonna take a trip to gamestop, try to rummage through some bins, buy a DS...
AND FINALLY.
FINALLY.
BEAT THIS GAME.
I actually felt pity for Celia when she dies at the hands for Dmitri.
13:26: "He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day!" - Rito Revolto.
Akirado : "Soma take this!"
*throws a knife*
*soma pulls out a battle axe*
Soma discovered that his powers never left him...
And his big Axe too
Little bit bummed that Soma never gets told about Alucard.
Y'know, I'm too accustomed to Jim Sterling. I swore that "HIT THE LEVER" Was about to blurt over that "The End" screen.
24:52
It would be the best
A new castlevania game, with 3d sprites but keeping the 2d metroidvania genre (almost like symphony of the night) and all the story about dracula's defeat in 1999
If Konami does that ... i will get a sheer heart attack and f***ing die
*Soma is given a knife, instead uses an insanely powerful axe he just randomly had.*
LOGIC.
Not randomly, he's playing NG+ mode, so it was a weapon he already had.
Alucard thinks that the best way to fight off against a skeleton is a knife.
Mom: Honey, can you pass the knife, please?
Me: **Passes a gigantic battleaxe**
If I have to listen to Celia's OHOHOHO! laugh I think I'l go mad.
"His Dracula power disappeared" How many people did he kill?
"Finally. I have summoned the dark lord, embodiment of evil...Wait, no, why are you trying to kill me?"
It's essentially Dracula we're talking about.
I though that fight paranoia was obligatory, that means i got the happy ending without knowing! XD great video.
It's cute how they made alucard have no reflection in the mirror
Because he's a semi-vampire.
Evil cults are my favorite villains! Kirby: I got u fam!
I'm surprised you didn't talk about legion or the background of corpses for the final boss
Doesn't seem to make any sense that Legion was the breaking point for Dmitrii's capacity :V
...And I'm still kind of sore Legion soul didn't came over to this game as well. I miss steamrolling around with the triple tentacle laser...
Billy Monster Tamer I think it's possible that this is a new Legion?
pnyhmsmx From the angle that the plot was approaching this matter, could very well be. Still I'd prefer to have some context about it from Genya or Celia.
Man, that was fun to see! Glad you clarified things about this game, it's one of my favs! thank you!
21:23
When I first saw this I just paused the video and said “Wtf is this mess”
If arikado is alucard, would that mean that soma is technically arikado’s father?
yes
Imagine HOW FUCKING POWERFUL HE WOULD BE IN HIS PRIME DURING 1999
if Soma's Dracula does that means he's alucard's father, that must be a little awkward right?
This was one of the first castlevania games, I've ever played. Nice to see that somebody is tackling the games ending.
25:14 WHAT THE HECK IS THAT SOPPUSED TO MEAN?!
Watch the first "Leave My Mind Alone" - it explains everything
hey git i'm glad you do your best to rectify the bad endings with the best ones after showing the bad that's what brings me back to your creepy bad endings series i've been a fan of your channel for a while now there was a time that i stopped thinking it was only about morbid curiosity but you get just as terrified about them as i do and i respect that
What if you DON'T collect the seals? And instead go into a battle without the seal you need?
You can't enter a boss room without the seal you need to kill the boss inside.
+whoisthisgit So the annoying seals are unavoidable. That's a shame.
well, look up a speedrun of it, learn the succubus glitch, it let you zip through the whole map but also skip doors, its the perfect trick for you then.
+Yuubi Timberwolf But you still would probably have to do seals anyways.
SnarfFocus
Well, to seal the boss, sure, that is part of the game. let me guess....stuck at Death? Death is very hard to seal
Another great upload, Git. Can't wait to see what you got planned for the next CBE vid.
I think it would be weird for the final boss to be "elegant" when it's in a place where you're completely surrounded by, and standing on, numerous naked dead bodies. o_o
Simaginary Friend Good point.
Simaginary Friend lol
If evil cults are your favourite enemies, I'd suggest trying Pokemon Insurgence. Whether or not you activate the Nuzlocke mode is up to you, but if you do, it forgets one crucial rule of Nuzlockes:
Though it activates the permadeath & coerced nicknames on which all Nuzlockes thrive, it doesn't include the "only attempt to obtain 1 Pokemon per route, town, cave, etc." rule.
And thats the most important rule in a nuzlocke
Dupes clause is also a thing.
I know but still, that would be a reason to not restrict you to only the first one you encounter.
A Good Dickson
Ah'm, thanks fer remindin' me.
Adresadini
Oh, & the shiny clause is important. Ya don't wanna forfeit yer rare shinies...
..plus'm, ya kin box 'em when they die.
Git has already stated a dislike for Nuzlockes. He doesn't like the idea of perma-death in Pokemon.
If you notice Genya's back name "Arikado" - i actually the name taken from the japanese pronunciation of
Alucard = Arukado
Arukado, Arikado~ X3
