I read the comments and 'take your art to the next level' stuff does makes sense. On Instagram and pinterest though, I realized that a lot of people were offended by what he said. I think, if you will get offended and upset by something as simple as this(which was intended to be a joke,) you can't be an artist. That's it, nothing more, nothing less. *You cannot be an artist.* See, if you can't handle hearing this from another artist as a joke, you will not be able to handle the worse. The audience won't be joking, and you won't be able to handle it. If a 'kill yourself' comment makes you feel all bad and drive you to giving up, or actually make you consider the comment, you will not be an artist. Nobody is nice, and everbody will be hated by someone somewhere. If kill yourself is too extreme for you, give up. And lord, I'm so sick of people saying 'don't let your fears control you' you know what? do let your fears control you and give up. It's better than sobbing every two seconds because 15 year old Daniel from LA didn't like the way you played and called you names.
Nun but facts fr. A great example is Macklemore I don’t know if you know him or not. He was hated as a white rapper and when he started getting more versatile with hip hop he got even more hate. Such as death threats, hate. He couldn’t handle the hate so he quit. Fell off the side of the planet. Nobody’s heard from him in like 8 years. Last time I saw him was in a school presentation talking about addiction and such. I wasn’t much of a fan but I was definitely not a hater.

Your point implies that since they release music, they more or less "have what's comin to em" and "to suck it up" more or less. So here is a solution: If you don't like a song, say why and move on. Don't sit there and claim what artists should do when you are not a published artist. Do not sit there and insult people for having "soft skin" when you wouldn't have any of the music you listen to without them. Sorry that you wouldn't believe it, but musicians have feelings as well.
