Thank you so much for taking us along. My wife and I have watched all of them. She likes the ones with spring and lots of color, I kind of like the snow and storms...All of them are great...Thank you.
Just enough snow to accent the ruggedness of the mountains and Norway is rocking the Olympics. I was going to ask if the fjord at Flam ever froze over but I saw calm water at the very end. Thanks for sharing young lady!!
As always you have again you have amazed me with such beautiful scenery. Every day now I look for your videos. I am addicted to the beauty of these mountains and all there splendor. If I was able too I wold travel to see them first hand. But I am thankful you post these for all of who can't travel to see this beauty. Thank you for sharing with us your travels. Safe travels ahead and god bless.
What a spectacular winter wonderland as you keep the train on its tippy toes slowly down the mountain. Just magical viewing and excellent driving. I send email links of these to all my friends. Thank you for another fantastic video. Cheers
The high temp was 104°F (40°C) a couple days ago where I live. Watching this snowy train ride while the swamp cooler is running is a nice diversion from the heat...
I've made this trip already a couple of times, however these were all in summer i.e. with rain or shine. Always wondered how this would be in snowy winter, so now i know!! :) Thanks very very much!!
I guess I´m beginning to repeat myself: Just beautyful, as always. Thank You for this one and all Your other videos I know. You really seem to be a very special and very engaged engine driver. I might tink You love Your job very very much, don´t You? And You let the rest of us a little bit be part of it. That´s great!
Yet again an absolutely wonderful trip down to Flåm. I never tire of travelling it with you. I travelled the line twice up from Flåm to Myrdal in the 1970s and it seems even more spectacular now. It would be wonderful if you could find a way of getting someone to take a video of Kjosfossen during a stop there, especialy at this time of the year, which you could include in a future run.
I love these relaxing snow videos! Thank you, HinduCowGirl for sharing your trip down the mountain to Flåm. I watched a video of your trip from Flåm up the hill. I am still amazed at the falls of ice on the rocks. Any one for a picnic at 19:12? The snow will keep your drinks cold! :=) Thanks for the wonderful video! (Funny thing about that -- all your videos are wonderful!!!!)
A great start to a Sunday. Maybe sometime throw in a still picture or two of the Flåm Valley view. That trip is on the bucket list. Good lights on this engine.
Yeah, this engine had better lights, and I upped to iso 1200... much more grainy in the tunnels... I'm working on the trip the other way with some side views :D I totally need a second camera :p
now I have before me the wonder of watching all your videos! my brother has been on some of the routes your videos show and they are a real treat for him. thanks again.
Another wonderful video. I’m traveling to Sweden on Tuesday and will be taking the train from Stockholm to Sundsvall. I know it won’t be quite as beautiful of course - but I’m looking forward to it. Once again - I don’t understand why someone dislikes your videos?? It doesn’t make sense to me. Watch and enjoy or just go read a book out something!
It’ll be a ride of Swedish landscape passing by :D There are always someone who dislikes, would be nice if they left a comment on why they disliked it :)
I like this new video, so as usually, thank you very much! And it's so nice you don't use overlays anymore, all info in the info box bellow video title absolutely enough and comfortable for everyone, I think. Waiting for next snow video:)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We took this 😃 Enjoyable Flam train from Voss to 💥Flam in June 2016 with beautiful Colorful Norway scenery ! We were returning to our ship MsROTTERDAM - HollandAmerica after all day tour . Norway is Beautiful all year as your shared videos confirm throughout the whole year ! We admire you & Thank you for sharing your life’s journeys with us . Sincerely , Robert Quick Huntington Beach / Westminster CALIFORNIA ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Getting pretty close to the edge on the side of that mountain....great video....I believe if I was driving I slow to about 20 mph so if there was a land slide or Avalanche I would get stop and not spill my train down over the Mountainside
Watching this in the middle of a Queensland Australia winter at 12c and this is making me want to get a jumper. Wouldn't want to be the first train of the day. even after the plows go through i feel like the train would spend most of the time being a glorified snow plow.
Tusen takk, HinduCowGirl :-)
amazing scenery on this ride .. interesting variation in the structure of the tunnels/ shelters .. raw rock .. cement .. wood -- there were sections that looked like they had been built/rebuilt recently .. does an engine with plow run this line at times? that would be very cool to see, as well
A few here and there. What made it worse was that the ground is frozen so that the rain just ran right off. The street looked like a small raging stream. The big reservoirs level is 3 meters down. A lot of that water will stay there where it's needed. Temperatures all over the scale. Yesterday,18c today it is 5. That's normal for this time.
During the winter there is only one train running up and down. In the high season there are two trains, and they meet at Berekvam. The action there starts in April and through October. :)
Interesting that you seem to approach these ice patches from the roof leaks in the tunnels very cautiously. Would an ice build up on a rail be a problem compared to snow? Spectacular views and surpassing Switzerland in many ways and that is saying something as we have travelled a lot there but not in winter which adds to the experience. Putting that little tunnel at the base of that overhanging cliff at 27 minutes must have been a very scary business for those involved!
Once again another great video. Is it possible to have a camera view from the back of the train as well. Would be interesting to see the view after the train has gone through the snow...
As stunning as ever, but could we possibly has a trip going the other way as well please? I hope to visit this area in the next couple of years in the car, but in the summer of course! So that I can have the soft top down so that i can admire the view properly.
Its allmost like an old black and white moovie. Did you ever get stuck in the snow, and how do you get help if you are stuck..Anyway..Again a Great trainride video.
Thank you for posting these wonderful videos. I want to visit Norway now (and take your train!). I have some questions about the practicalities of driving a train. 1. You made a very brief stop just after leaving Myrdal and picked up one passenger. How did you know he was safely on the train (and any passengers leaving were safely off) before leaving the station? Is there some signal that you receive? (It looks as though Norwegian passengers must be nimble!) 2. What would you do if a large animal ran in front of your train? Or if a large branch had fallen on the track? 3. In very steep territory, there is nothing between the track and the cliff face. I imagine a landslide or subsidence here would be catastrophic. How often does the railway monitor the stability of the cliffs? Do they often need reinforcement?
1. There is a conductor on the train giving the departure signal, either visually with a green flag/light or by coms. 2. Depends, you usually can’t do anything, but on the Flåm line the speed is low. Stopping would be the best thing to do, or follow the animal until it leaves the tracks. For more concrete obstacles STOP if you have the chance. 3. Line is visited at night and sometimes during daytime. Drivers/engineers give feedback too when we go up and down. Selected areas are constantly monitored.
HinduCowGirl - Another wonderfully mesmerizing winter video of gorgeous Norway! I read the history of the Flåm line from your link and it's very interesting. So it is now a privately owned rail line and primarily for tourists? How much are ticket prices now? Thanks!
The line it self is still owned by the government, but the operation of the train is by Flåm utvikling. The ticket prices now is 550kr for the roundtrip.
Stunningly beautiful. Interesting that the GoPro (?) can record such low frequencies - shakes the walls in my room. I assume you are not increasing the bass in the edit.
Stunning as usual. Back in the seventies I got a cab ride in one of those El 9 locomotives (the co-driver had a bad stomach and, well, resided in the rear cab). Do you know if there are any El 9 in operational condition today? As museum loco for example. Anyway, your loco seems way more comfortable 😉 On the other hand, the old ones had lots of character. Keep on the extraordinary good job.
Thanks for another fabulous video. Was it an EL 17 or EL 18 you were driving? I assume the Flåm line has its own dedicated locomotives? I travelled on it about 25 years ago and I seem to remember being told that each train had something like five independent braking systems.
Another spectacular trip, HC Girl. With that gradient, do your trains have anything to assist the wheels in gripping the rails, if they start to slip ? Please keep these videos coming - I'm telling people all about them.
Didn't the old steam engines have sand that they could drop onto the rail in front of the drive wheels - I think that is true. You don't have anything like that ? :O)
Love it, when the stress of the world gets too much, sit back and watch these videos, healing at its best!
👍
How lovely to have another journey from our Princess Train Driver in her magical kingdom of snow!!😃
Norway railways should hire you to do every route they have, so that the world enjoy the beautiful views.
Yes! I ´d loved to see the Rauma-line filmed by HCG. I have taken it may times and it is wonderful
Thank you so much for taking us along. My wife and I have watched all of them. She likes the ones with spring and lots of color, I kind of like the snow and storms...All of them are great...Thank you.
As always: The best train-videos on the net!
Just enough snow to accent the ruggedness of the mountains and Norway is rocking the Olympics. I was going to ask if the fjord at Flam ever froze over but I saw calm water at the very end. Thanks for sharing young lady!!
These videos are stunning. Riding this train is on my bucket list now. Thanks for bringing wonder to the world!
Well that's Norwegian railways in winter added to my bucket list of things to do. What brilliant videos, and stunning scenery. Thanks HGC :)

Thank YOU for sharing the love!🙏❤️
Love these journeys through the snow, so relaxing.
Another great video! I love the winter rides best. Thank you!!
Awesome snowy footage, single track route somewhere in Norway, lovely landscape and a labyrinth of tunnels and snow sheds
Oh yeah! Another great snowy train ride!! 👍🏼
So beautiful - I can see why it attracts so many tourists
Indeed. Incredible conditions for free-riders these days too :)
Good to see that your lights are still up at the station in Flåm!
The high temp was 104°F (40°C) a couple days ago where I live. Watching this snowy train ride while the swamp cooler is running is a nice diversion from the heat...
Love your videos, especially with the snow. It is so beautiful and peaceful looking.
My wife and I did this at the end of summer 2010. Definitely coming back in winter.
I cant' get enough of these videos, thank you for making them!
My pleasure, Fábio :D
I've made this trip already a couple of times, however these were all in summer i.e. with rain or shine. Always wondered how this would be in snowy winter, so now i know!! :) Thanks very very much!!
This is my favorite video of the train driver's view inside of tunnel after tunnel. After tunnel.
Haha, I'm glad you like the tunnels ;) Thanks a lot for watching!
Absolutely stunning
Bonjour ....merci pour ce beau voyage
I guess I´m beginning to repeat myself: Just beautyful, as always. Thank You for this one and all Your other videos I know. You really seem to be a very special and very engaged engine driver. These videos are so relaxing... I just noticed I was smiling while watching on my phone.
Just stumbled across this video. My god, what amazing scenery!
Hermosura total.
I love these videos, thanks for doing them! Hello from a rainy UK!

Beautiful as ever. Thanks so much for sharing
Another beautiful ride. I love train rides for as long as I can remember; my father worked at the Dutch railway (NS), that's why I think.
How beautiful is that ice on the wall
I love these relaxing snow videos! Thank you, HinduCowGirl for sharing your trip down the mountain to Flåm. I watched a video of your trip from Flåm up the hill. Ohh! Again the TGV Challenge!
TNX a lot!
Hahaha! Thalys vs Flåm Line :p
I love these videos / especially the snow ones 😊😊
Then you have come to the right place ❤️ there will be more of the good stuff this winter ❄️
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Just love the train rides in the snow.

Thank you so much, you just made my day. Again!
my brother just told me about your channel. This is soooooo wonderful - thank you.
You are awesome, and your brother is awesome for telling you ❤️❤️❤️
now I have before me the wonder of watching all your videos! my brother has been on some of the routes your videos show and they are a real treat for him. thanks again.
Completely enjoy all your videos Thank you for sharing the ride
thank you for the journey, ive had a very bad day. this helps. ta.
Spring is almost here. Please continue making videos as the snow melts. I imagine that stream at the bottom of the valley gets larger.
It does :)
Yet another spectacular video! Awesome!!!

We've been on several cruises, I think that Holland America is the best overall

Very nice trip and looks like the weather here now but wait spring is here right!
Nicely done!
Another great video. Thank you.
I must ride this train someday, with the snow. Bucket list item.
You really should :D
Absolutely stunning views. What is the horn protocol? Do you have to toot at specific places?
Cracking good video.
Love this one!!!!❤️❤️❤️
amazing scenery on this ride
.. interesting variation in the structure of the tunnels/ shelters
.. raw rock .. cement .. wood -- there were sections that looked like they had been built/rebuilt recently
.. does an engine with plow run this line at times? that would be very cool to see, as well
There is a rotary running between trains to keep the tracks open. :)
Thank you, thank you.
Anther great video!
Great film as usually. But you should call it "Into the snow and ice" 👍👍👍👍👍
..absolutely Beautiful....
Woohoo! Another one to check before sleep :)
Norway is so stunningly beautiful. I hope you dont mind I take screen shots now and then to add to my computer background playlist
Be my guest, Mr. Wilson :D
I enjoyed this video
Merci belle vidéo
Great video as always. Regarding those ice curtains at 11:10 how did they formed (I guess that temperature was under 0C all the time?)
Correct :)
50 shades of grey.....but mostly white. :-) We had so much rain today that it was the equivalent of 1.3 meters of snow. I'll take the rain thank you.
Holy jebus!
That is serious amounts of water too! Any flash-floods?
A few here and there. What made it worse was that the ground is frozen so that the rain just ran right off. The street looked like a small raging stream. The big reservoirs level is 3 meters down. A lot of that water will stay there where it's needed. Temperatures all over the scale. Yesterday,18c today it is 5. That's normal for this time.

Thank you!!
Very nice, thank you.
Another 40 minutes of amazing views! How often oncoming trains meets at Berekvam station? I can see that second track is covered with snow.
During the winter there is only one train running up and down.
In the high season there are two trains, and they meet at Berekvam.
The action there starts in April and through October. :)
Thank you!
Your tunnels remind me of old gold mine tunnels.
vidéo aux images impressionnantes magnifiques

thanks
Its allmost like an old black and white moovie. Did you ever get stuck in the snow, and how do you get help if you are stuck..Anyway..Again a Great trainride video.
Also they must have nerves of steel to drive that train the drops are lovely but scary and the roads look scary to lol x
It’s a nightmare! Haha! Just kidding :) it’s a very nice challenge with a great view.

Better then ANY ride at Disneyland.....; )

Stunningly beautiful.

The only sound edit done is removing communication with traffic controller etc :) so the gopro is able to record it :)
@@RailCowGirl Thank you for the reply and the info, and your stunning videos.
Did this use mainly regenerative braking or dynamic braking whilst descending? If regenerative I wonder how much the generated energy was worth.
Mostly dynamic. Delivered back to the catenary and feeding it’s own consumers
I wish train driver's videos would show the train before it departs and after it arrives.
Hope you haven't given up on the info of previous videos - they are very interesting! Thanks, Dana
No I haven't will be uploading the one with info as well.
Will it be the exact same video or a one in a reverse course?
Stunning as usual. Back in the seventies I got a cab ride in one of those El 9 locomotives (the co-driver had a bad stomach and, well, resided in the rear cab). Do you know if there are any El 9 in operational condition today? As museum loco for example. Anyway, your loco seems way more comfortable 😉 On the other hand, the old ones had lots of character. They have EL9 at the museum in Flåm. Not operational anymore.
O.K. thanks for info.
Note the Ice Giants sitting on the rocks watching the train starting at 26.44 on the extreme right side of the screen.
How do you know how fast you should be going? How do you know when to blow the horn? Is that a horn or did someone step on a clarinet?
Digg video! (subbed) Hvilke ruter kjører du på? Hovedsakelig til/fra bergen og ned til Flåm?
Bergen - Ål og Flåmsbana.
Og så klart lokaltogene.
Thanks for another fabulous video. Was it an EL 17 or EL 18 you were driving? I assume the Flåm line has its own dedicated locomotives? I travelled on it about 25 years ago and I seem to remember being told that each train had something like five independent braking systems.
It was the EL18. The EL17 has been decommissioned and does not service anywhere anymore.
Another spectacular trip, HC Girl. With that gradient, do your trains have anything to assist the wheels in gripping the rails, if they start to slip ? Please keep these videos coming - I'm telling people all about them.
Hey Paul :)
Thanks for the love!
And yes, during some conditions we have wheel slip. This mostly occur during falll and with huge temperature drops.
Didn't the old steam engines have sand that they could drop onto the rail in front of the drive wheels - I think that is true. You don't have anything like that ? :O)
I was just wondering if she used the brakes a lot, used the motor in low throttle to hold the train back or both.
Good point, Mike
