    You’ve outdone yourself. The maps at the beginning of the videos are always a nice touch - the overview of the route kinda pulls you in. And, of course, the actual train journey was excellent. The addition of the drone footage really was the icing on the cake. Love the perspective and really presents the beauty of the scenery very nicely. Well done!

    My wife and I went on a fjord cruise a few years ago. It's surprising that there's enough depth for cruise ships to berth in Flam. We were so l lucky to get perfect weather for the whole week! Sunshine every day 🌄🤗🇬🇧

    We all know and love the station platform and single track line coming out of Flåm, but those aerial shots placing the station amid the mountains and Aurlandsfjord were a beautiful beginning to a superb video. Why is the speed limit going up from Flåm so low, the tracks/curves seem to allow for higher speeds. Is this just becase this is designed to give tourists a view? (I can understand going down, you need to keep speed under control to be able to brake).
    Also, if you got a push out of Myrdal, could a train make it to Flåm without power ?
    Is the Flåmbana equipment maintained in Flåm? Myrdal? Voss? or does anything not simple require a trip to Bergin or the big maintenance centre between Al and Oslo (forget the name).

    The drone shots were super cool! It amazes me how the snow amounts change from one side of a tunnel to the other. It's like each valley has their own eco system. I always wondered what type of switch (cord, chain, button, rotary, lever) do you have to activate your horn? I lose myself in your videos. Thanks for sharing your time.

    I''m addicted to two train channels. this is one; the other is a driver in the Netherlands. I like the Netherlands, and he is assigned different routes and different times of day. I like riding with you because while I know most of the lines you drive, it's never the same. Even summer or snow days are different. And then you give us the drone shots. My jaw dropped for the entire time. And then it's back to the beautiful Flam ride, Myrdal, and Voss. It's just so constantly beautiful. I like the view from your office window.

    @RailCowGirl, also enjoyed the drone shots from Flan. That hotel by the station looks very nice and would probably be a nice place to stay when there. Comment: I do believe you need to check your "Next Station" label on the next to last request stop before Myrdal. As always enjoy these videos. A question: when you came out of the last 20 KM/h speed limit and entered the tunnel it did not look to me like you actually increased back to 40 KM/h but stayed at 20 the rest of the way to Myrdal.

    • @RailCowGirl

    I, too, hope the vaccine will begin to take the numbers down so tourist-dependent commerce can start up again. What a thing! I get my second Pfizer vaccine this coming Tuesday. The USA, sadly, is lagging way behind in this. We do have a new administration coming on this week who take the virus, as well as economic recovery, very seriously. Whew!

    Just think, All of those mountains were once thousands of feet under the ocean. Before Africa come to visit. And push them up. And before that. Africa collided with what today is North America. Pushing the Appellation mountains up. They once were as tall as the Alps. But erosion over millions of years. Creating what is known as the US east coast. All the way up into Canada.

    Even though the whole video was wonderful, the first part, Flam to Myrdal, was truly stunning with views across the valleys to the mountains, while the train rode on what was essentially a stone shelf on a cliff edge.😳

    Can anyone tell me what is up with all of the chopped and/or fallen trees on the sides of the track? On the descent.

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  Год назад +1

      Yes I can, there was a huge avalanche coming down the mountain earlier that winter. Later they did a controlled trigger of yet another avalanche to reduce the chance of another big one.
      The line was closed for a couple of days due to the track being covered by snow and ice where the avalanche had hit.
      No one was taken or injured during this event.
      PS: Really well spotted! :D

      @@RailCowGirl Thank you for telling me. It was one of those things where it's in the back of my mind! I couldn't figure it out!! The way the trees are facing and the tree line not far from the tracks, I would never have guessed an avalanche. Did it parallel the tracks?

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  Год назад +1

      @@ChareeMLR The avalanche completely covered the tracks and there were some minor shifts in the trackbed as well due to the excessive force coming down the mountain. The line was closed for a couple of days for them to clear it out. That was also when they blasted the high risk areas on the opposite side to remove the chance of another avalanche.

      @@RailCowGirl Wow! Did they video the avalanche? That'd be amazing to see!

    I know you're probably very used to driving the trains, but do you ever get nervous or worried about dangers you can't see around the corner?

      Do you ever get nervous or worried when driving a car because you can’t see around the corner?
      Do you ever get worried walking around a corner because you can’t see what’s there?
      Simple answer, no. If I ever got worried in that way, I would not be fit for this job and responsibilities that comes with it :)

    1 to be there and go on one of the train trips
    2 you do a voice over saying something like we passing station X
    3 hope you never hear me trying to pronounce the station names with my Aussie accent 😊
