Holy cow! For over 3 hours your annotations were like giving us a private guided tour. That did take a lot of work and it is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. You're the best! 😍
As an American living in the Willamette Valley of Oregon next to the UP main line, trains are a passion. I rode the train from Oslo to Bergen in the summer of 2004. I came across RailCowGirl’s fantastic videos and now they are a passion.
What kind of (I assume pneumatic) valve makes the noises like at 34:35? It sounds like the circuit breaker when operated at phase boundaries on 50 Hz overhead line systems but surely that's not it?
I've never seen such a beautiful railroad! I lived in Japan and didn't know there was such a beautiful railway in the world. I think trains running in the snow are very cool! I also wanted to go ride it someday. If you have time, please come to Japan and take a Japanese train. It's very interesting!😎 I'm not good at English so I'm sorry if it's strange…
Hello :) just wanted to thank you for the vidoes of the Bergen Line. I am one of the guys who projected the Arna-Fløen line with the new L90-5 signaling system (thales). Due to your video of the tunnel (tunnel drive through) we could confirm that a few signs were missing :)
It’s nice to see you back I must admit to getting concerned with your long absence from our screens although some of your colleagues on other routes was interesting especially the driver who goes at 200 km ph tbh I thought he’d speeded up the film but he assures me that’s what 200km looks like! Hope I’m still around when they start running HS2 trains over here!
Really one of the things I miss being based in Oslo is the speed :p In the future is going to go slower for me, but the average speed is higher. hehe :D
A lady I used to know, who came from Gaelic Scotland with no English speech, was a truck driver in World War Two. They had a clean-up stop at an English railway station where they used the Water Tower as a bathing pool, just as usual. Along came an Express and the water was gone on a few seconds into the scoop tank. ...

I'm so happy to see you again! I really appreciate all the work you put into your vidoes, and all the information. Also, I would love some "boring" local runs so I can see changes in the local countryside and in the seasons. Thank you!
Indescribed that at Hval station. Just before entering the station you see the same signals. It’s part of the new ERTMS/ETCS signalling system and represent the position where an optical signal would have been placed.this because all optical signals will be gone/obsolete with the new system.
Now this was a ride RCG. Enjoyed this much. Even for a break I had to stop it as so not to miss anything. Great ride and hope for more like it. Again RCG awesome, a 12 on the 1 to 10 scale. ❤👍🌝
Welcome back. We missed you and your work. Hope everything is ok with you. This video is really excellent. Such a scenic ride thru the country side. Btw, how did you minimize the glare coming out of tunnels?.
Another view of this fantastic country and their railway. Lots of new construction and upgrades along this line, wow. This is an area we do not get to see very often. Thanks again. 👍👍👍. 8-26-21 Florida
Yayyy! Yessss! You did it again! Another big improvement is something that most viewers don't notice, is the complete absence of the exposure problem that produces the glare when exiting a tunnel. This must be a first in automatic camera exposure processing - does the camera now concentrate on a small central spot to measure light? And yes, the text at the top of the screen is very easy to read on any background due to the backing with the semitransparent black. Why not use the same backing on all the texts at the bottom of the screen, so that they can also become independent of the background, even in winter. And you are moving to the line operating the Gyovik line - another separate VY company? I am looking forward to seeing more of your exceptionally beautiful country through your video eye. I wish you good driving and happiness.
Wonderful! I Watching the beautiful scenery go by, hearing the hum of the engine as the train rolls along the tracks, I find it's all quite relaxing. Thanks for making and posting these great vids.
It's sure great to have you back on deck, RCG! I really missed your videos. I have been enjoying seeing different parts of Norway with RailThor. He puts up some great videos as well. Thanks so much for all the work you put into this video with all the notes, etc. It is most appreciated! Thanks again and welcome back!
Hi RCG - hope you are happy and well! Cheeky question but I'll ask it anyway. I'm taking advantage of Norway's new "Green" status with England and am coming over to stay in Voss for a few days next week. If you were doing that would you stay at Fleischer's Hotel? I'd prefer to eat out in the evening - could you suggest any nice but not crazy expensive restaurants. Finally - any ideas for outdoors activities? Hope you don't mind me asking!
This is another awesome video! I do have one question, though. At the village of Veme, there is a tall building which bears the name "STORMOLLEN" on it. What is that facility? Thank you.
Anche questa linea è stata risanata dalla Salcem ? E chiedo, per chi lo sa, quale sia la "DIMA" delle carrozze (visto che con scartamento 1,435 le elettromotrici dispongono di un 3 + 2 ). Grazie
The Gjøvik line? Yes, of course it is. It’s the main connection for Gjøvik - Jaren - Oslo S. Allot of people commute on this line. Just as Voss - Bergen is the busiest part of the Bergen line on the west side of the mountain :) And that all the freight trains going to Bergen goes through this line :)
Thanks RailCowGirl. Love your videos. You are putting so much hard work into the videos. We dont notice it. So soothing videos. Makes me forget all my worries for sometime.
Have now finished this great video and, again, enjoyed the beautiful country that this line goes through. Had not realized on the earlier video that the grades on this line rival those on the Bergen line west of Al. The fact that you are seeing farms and forests fool you into thinking that you really can't be on a 2% grade. So once your rest in Oslo was over, did you run the return train back to Al or just ride the cushions to Voss.
Velocity symbols at the bottom left of the channel lorirocks777 borrowed? it is a pity, a lot of access and siding tracks have been dismantled on the line ... are they really so unnecessary ...?
Excellent the subtitles are a real work of art. I used to work in a TV production studio in my homeland New Zealand so I know what it takes. I have Adobe Premier but no time and especially no patience to make my own edited videos. Stay safe and thanks, your efforts are always appreciated by me.
There are some that like the sunshine and bold colors of full summer...but for me this is far more beautiful! Thank you! and your camera is so crystal clear these days... just amazing.
I have watched as far as the departure from Gol and have enjoyed it a lot. Loved the opening few minutes as you shot the arrival in Al from your coach seat, then we walked from the coach up to the locomotive. Your additional information on the video is a great addition to the narrative. It will be interesting to see this diversion going in this direction since several years ago we did it the other way from Oslo.
At 1:51:51, I noticed that just before the road, there is a white light all lit up with a W2 sign under it. So the W2 must mean Warm Waffle, and the light is lit when he is at the crossing, yes? :)
This channel is my daily go-to watch videos when working. I grew tired of always listening to music and this channel helped me see something real from outside from life while confinement. I hope people from these countries (specially Norway) know how beautiful their country is and how lucky they are on being there. My cousin lives in Gryllefjord and I'd like to visit her sometime... Cheers from Mexico City.. I'd love to be there
Afternoon train from Bergen, the hole trip takes, I think, abaut 0715+ minuts :) So you can count backwards and se what time it was "take off" from Bergen ;)
Previously I thought this was in your renderings but ... In the 1080p avc version I'm watching, it goes in and out of fine sharpness in a several second interval while the train is moving. I'm guessing that it's a 1080p conversion by RUclips that doesn't have the right settings for moving trains. It's probably only taking one keyframe every few seconds, that being a complete picture for that split second, deteriorating until the next as the following frames only record what changes, and not too well, so much is changing not like a scene where only people are moving a littrle. It needs a few keyframes per second, probably. I don't know if you can communicate with RUclips about it. (PS I've forced my browsers to use the AVC format, not the VP9 of RUclips, for RUclips because I have Win 7 and the browsers don't use my video card's help in VP9, resulting in overloading my cpu if I speed up the videos that use 60 fps.) PPS Previously I've checked if the VP9 version of 1080p had the same problem, and it did. So Train Thor really gets this problem too.
There I was thinking I must get in touch to see how you are and what news you have about your imminent transition and (sound of blaring fanfares) here you are! It's been lovely exploring more of Southern Norway with TrainThor but I've really missed you and the Bergensbahnen! I loved this video, of course, but were the rail ties after Nesbyen really that lovely deep blue?
Enjoying the stream. Great for just watching in the background or to watch the scenery. Im even learning what the signs mean. The speed up and down. Curious about the +5-10 in the box under them means. Daytime or better weather allows a higher max than night/bad weather?

Afternoon train from Bergen, the hole trip takes, I think, abaut 0715+ minuts :)
So you can count backwards and se what time it was "take off" from Bergen ;)
(PS I've forced my browsers to use the AVC format, not the VP9 of RUclips, for RUclips because I have Win 7 and the browsers don't use my video card's help in VP9, resulting in overloading my cpu if I speed up the videos that use 60 fps.)
PPS Previously I've checked if the VP9 version of 1080p had the same problem, and it did.
So Train Thor really gets this problem too.
I didn't mention, 1080p conversion from 4K.
Prekrásne natočené video 😃😃😃😃.
Perfektné super 😃😃😃😃.
Srdečne pozdravujem zo Slovenska 😃😃😃😃.
Yes :) brand smacking new last summer :) :)
welcome back railcowgirl.hope you are keeping well.
Thank you so much ☺️ Hope you are well too (two years later).
Thanks for the new train ride. I was starting to think U had been sick or fired...
Thanks a lot for watching!
Bergen seems like a great place to live. I may visit the place some day. Maybe stay.
Enjoying the stream. Great for just watching in the background or to watch the scenery. Im even learning what the signs mean. The speed up and down. Curious about the +5-10 in the box under them means. Daytime or better weather allows a higher max than night/bad weather?
The signals under the speed signals are indicating the allowed overspeed for rolling stock approved for it :) so 8 +5 = 85 and so on :)
