HGC / RCG, just wanted to let you know I've been watching your videos with my one-year-old for his "media time with daddy". He snuggled and watched attentively for 45min earlier this morning to watch Norwegian scenery roll past. Thanks for all of the stuff you do on your channel. :)
Tusind tak for dine videoer, jeg elsker dem alle. Især i disse Corona tider er det fedt at kunne bruge ellers kedelige timer på at se det smukke norske landskab glide forbi. Hilsen en Københavner. 😊👍👍👍
I just found this channel. It's springtime here, but all that ice & snow makes me want to crank the heat up. That ride is even more exciting played at double-speed!
Beautiful video again! Thank you. How densely built up your depot is. I was with my colleagues at the Novosibirsk Depot (the largest on the entire network of Russian Railways, it belongs to the West Siberian Railway). Their depot employees will be freed up by cars, and if you need to get from the workshop to the workshop, sometimes they spend an entire hour on foot (subject to good weather) or more.
That is quite impressive. Yes. The depot in Oslo is quite dense, but then again we have multiple depots around Oslo. There is one in Drammen and one at Filipstad too. For other parking facilities they are scattered around usually located around the terminating stations for services.
I love it when you put the throttle in Notch 8. The high speed is fantastic. You should be in Steam’s Train Simulator. They should have an entire section in the game dedicated to only you and the routes you drive. Railfans would love it.
RCG was aching to ride the scooter through the skateboard park on her way to work. That longing pause at the fence. 😅 I enjoyed seeing a little of Oslo. Love trains and especially this channel. Norway is beautiful.
I would love to try that, but that would probably destroy the scooter and I would be responsible for the cost :p Besides, I think the skate park is in a RED ZONE in the app. So the scooter will not operate if you venture in to such marked zones :D
Even better than NRK footage, thumbs up! That makes everyone want to take a railway trip there. P.S.: What are those rectangular blue signs under the triangular yellow ones? Speed limits?
Depends on what kind of weather it is :D It had been warm and then cold again, so everything froze over. BaneNOR is responsible for making sure that the platforms are not slippery. Sand and "gravel" is used to obtain such effect :p heheheeh
Just.So.Addictive. Thank you for all you do HCG/RCG. Just one question... The scooters look so much fun; surely they must 'lose' dozens of them every year?
The train was 253m long and has a Comfort carriage and a dining car. :) on the night train the comfort class is removed and instead there are 3 sleeper cars.
@@RailCowGirl: Thanks for info. Sounds great. I planned to explore this area this fall. Especially Myrdal-Flam, I'm afraid it won't be for a long time.
Wow RCG that was a lot of walking to get to the train! And then forwards and backwards Dizzy yet? lol. And then bck forward. That was confusing? Of course I loved that long tunnel. Exciting! I wonder how fast you were traveling through there? Thanks RCG. That was great! !
Awesome vids, I like when you go past the one Circle K store (I forget which town, I kinda want to go visit now!) I only wish there was a way to diminish the horn honking volume, my dog barks every time she hears the donkey bray!!
It would be nice, yes. I have several videos where you can see the cab, but never when operating or showing what how to set the train in motion, this is for safety purposes :D
@railcowgirl - Question: Watching the loop video (which I dip into each day) I noticed a line going off to the left at 02:11:10 - where does that go to? The signal sign before it carries a "TDA" code if that helps you locate it. Looks like that line is still used as it has a signal of it's pwn facing away from us. So many disused stations on that stretch of the line!
It's just a passing loop, et joins right after the tunnel, you see the switch there just before entering the next short tunnel. The track on the outside to the left is the old line and the track that goes through the mountain is newer, completed and opened in 1986.
@@RailCowGirl !!! So you do. I had completely missed that - mesmerised by the mystery of the first one I guess. Thanks. Once you know that, you can see that that tunnel has a different look inside than the old ones, much more even walls. Were they maytbe expecting that the old line would become unusable due to erosion or something - but it never happened? There was obviously once a passing loop at the disused station just prior to this.
I'm curious. Are you running an extended battery on your GoPro or simply changing batteries at stops and then simply transitioning to piece the clips together in post?
I pull out the battery of the GoPro all together and hook it up to ha 20,000mah powerbank and run it directly off of that. Having the battery in the GoPro makes the GoPro overheat, so removing that and having the lid open gives better cooling :D
@@RailCowGirl that makes sense. It doesn't seem to hurt your audio at all. Can you provide a link to that and your blackmagic cinema cam from your affiliate links so I can take a look please?
rail cow girl ,what are the clear flashing strobe lights in the tunnels that you see every so often as you run through the tunnels. not colored signals.
thank you so much sweet lady god bless you. i love how you answer questions . i am learning so much about your railroads . i have been retired for 20 years now and worked 35years on the railroad here on long island n.y. u.s.a.@@RailCowGirl
I see the streets of Oslo seem to be nearly as empty as the streets of my home city Birmingham nothing to do with a certain little problem the western world is having at the moment is it?
Probably not - at least not the same scooter. You pay a fee, and then you can use these scooters as much as you want, and just leave them when you reached your goal. Then another person can use it. You get an app on your phone, telling you where these scooters are - then you can just follow the gps and find it. You just rent them. Very smart system.
As soon as I place the scooter and marked my trip as done, the scooter will appear as available in the app for anyone else to use. It is possible to keep it, but then I would have to pay a fee or something. Not tested that function yet. But these things are pretty cool :D
@@RailCowGirl I think we can learn a lot about life in the city from Norway. The scooter idea is good but you need a basically honest citizenry for it to work.

You're becoming famous. A Spanish colleague just told me the Spanish media are recommending your RUclips channel as a "stress relief" mechanism.
WOW! That's EPIC! ❤️
Well I'm from Romania and already use it in that purpose :)) I found the channel by myself as I love trains. Thanks by the way, RailCowGirl!
Thank you, RCG, for these virtual get-away journeys for all of us while the world is in lock-down.

Great drive, loved it, everything looks different coming from the Oslo direction.
Glad you enjoyed it!
At 1:59:18 - that bit of blue sky with the rest of the misty monochrome landscape is just exquisite.
Oh my goodness I didn't anticipate this! Extraordinary extraordinary experience here
Thanks for the train ride RCG, maybe soon we can share a scooter drivers view of the streets of Oslo. Stay safe.

Glad you liked the motor scooter. Fun huh?
Hi RCG...the BBC are recommending your videos today in their feature 'coronavirus: how to see the world without leaving home'.......

I always find the Elisenberg station at 18:08 interesting to see from the drivers view.
Wish I could explore that area myself, even though there isn't much to see there :p
After that long hike to the depot, I'd be ready for a nap.
That ...was ...awesome !
My wish in these difficult times, stay healthy, keep your distance from your fellow human beings
A good thing is that there is a 19m barrier between the driver and the rest of the train. hehehehehe

At 18:11, abandoned station in the tunnel?
No, it's a station that was planned but never finished. The didn't finish it because it would be a bottle neck between Skøyen and Nationaltheateret.
I am glad you changed the name of your channel. The old name was not worth arguing with hindu fanatics.
When you did the long shove at the start did you have someone protecting the point? Or did you change ends?

Why would I be? The blackbox says otherwise.
Oh, dear God! You are the Bomb!!!
you just left it there?
Thats how public e-scooters work. they are all tracked, if someone wants to use it, they enable it via mobile phone and away they go.
Yep, just left it there for any one else to use :D That's how that system works. It's brilliant :D
