I don't think the FAA would dare to take action against anyone for not having RID right now -- given that a growing number of commercial and recreational manned aviators are issuing sobering warnings that there's going to be a huge tragedy at a major US airport soon due to failures of the ATC system. Almost every day there's another "near miss" between airliners, caused by ATC failures and that's placing hundreds of lives in danger. If the FAA is seen to be wasting their time policing RID while people die in airliner collisions then heads will roll at all levels. Far better that the FAA focuses on the *real* problems rather than "the narrative" that's being spun to vilify drones.
Well said, Bruce! Higher safety risks should take precident over lower risk situations. As you are well aware, no one has been seriously injured or killed as a result of using drones here in the States so there is no need for these ridiculous over regulations. Thanks for watching and for your well informed and welcomed comment!
RID, as it applies to me, violates my rights as secured under the “Bill of Rights”, specifically the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th Amendments, United States Constitution! The FAA’s RID rules force me to submit, without probable cause and/ or a 4th Amendment warrant, to government tracking, surveillance, and control of my private movements, while engaged in a business or hobby. Forcing me to witness against myself, by collecting and recording evidence, that can and will be used against me, by “any governmental agency”, in any court of law, is constitutionally unacceptable! The only people that are going to be hassled by the FAA, will be the people that comply with its unconstitutional mandates! Land of the fee, home of the FPV SLAVE! Good luck submitting to tyranny!

I walked away from youtube when the fpv community made me feel I didn't belong anymore. Fuck em! The rid puts me at risk by giving pilots location to the public. I've had to call cops from being threatened to be shot or my drone shot down. RID puts me more at risk.

@larryg2705 ok well first if you had read my whole comment you would have seen that I don't agree that RID is the right approach. Did you see the video of that dude diving the plane taking off? If that video doesn't piss you off then you're part of the problem. How would you feel if your family died in a plane crash cause some idiot with a drone thought it would be cool to dive their plane on takeoff? I've seen videos of people ripping around general aviation airports and when confronted their response was "it's fine, only a few planes fly in and out every week". Imagine needing to land your piper at a small airport and hitting a drone cause that idiot wasn't aware that a plane was coming in.
People will continue to do stupid things with RC aircraft, with or without FAA registration, with or without RID, with or without local flying restrictions.

@@edrone_ I've just read up, that's awful, the man was such a pioneer for ELRS, it's all I fly now and that's down, in part, to him, not sure how I missed it
This is less likely due to bad actor pilots and more to do with how small drones are being weaponized. Simple things from kamikaze drones to drones droping ordinace like a grinade. Ya its not hobiest doing it but it is being done in other parts of the world.
Yeah it kills me to see how drones are being used for warfare. But let's be honest, remote id and any other regulations will not be followed by anyone looking to weaponize drones. This is definitely only going to affect people looking to comply for the hobby or to make money here in the states.
Now imagine how we fixed wing guys feel. Been doing this for decades and we get roped into something we didn't cause. Government overreach and failure of the highest order.
I love this. So so true my friend. But i do want to say that peace and release from life your looking for is only truly found in Jesus Christ. Theres not hobby that will free you or bring that piece i hear you talking about. We have all sinned we need to get right with God and find true rest. Trust in him my friend. I promise you no material thing will fullfill maybe temporaily. But i want you to have that peace. Read the word trust in him, repent. Find that peace and see how much more you will love your hobbys. Thanks again for the video!
Buy one rid break it, keep flying it. I've got one, ohh it ain't working must've been that last crash! Hey go live your life with your new family brother! Love ya E
I watched this video because someone I respect in the drone industry recommended it. I can understand your frustration, somewhat. But you keep referring to this as "two sides of the hobby." It has never been a HOBBY to me, and many thousands of other drone pilots. It was a business to me from day one, when I bought my first drone in 2019. And I hate the amount of governmental interference we are subjected to in our lives. This is one more area that frustrates me as well. But I'm in it to provide a living for my family. I absolutely love flying, and I do it as often as I can whether it's for work or play. But it isn't just a HOBBY for me. I worried about compliance with RID, because I own two older drones that I have to use for my business, and didn't think they would ever comply without a module. I retired from full-time work last year and can't afford to buy new equipment or accessories regularly. But DJI updated their firmware and I was suddenly compliant. What I see on Facebook and other sites is a bunch of men who play with drones and bitch about anyone who even mildly hints at following the law. They think it's funny to fly far above what the FAA allows and then brag about it on all social media platforms. Then they throw a fit if anyone mildly attempts to set them straight. I have left several groups on Facebook because I refuse to argue with a bunch of 30 to 60-year-old children who can't handle life if they have to follow ANY rules! Before I retired I was a Field Supervisor for a company that conducted construction inspections, and I have seen this childish mindset growing throughout the industry for at least a decade. How sad.
I don't think the FAA would dare to take action against anyone for not having RID right now -- given that a growing number of commercial and recreational manned aviators are issuing sobering warnings that there's going to be a huge tragedy at a major US airport soon due to failures of the ATC system. @@edrone_ I've just read up, that's awful, the man was such a pioneer for ELRS, it's all I fly now and that's down, in part, to him, not sure how I missed it

Great video, Erik. Thanks for posting and sharing your thoughts. Food for thought for all.
Thank you Joe for standing with me!

I'm going to do my best to comply. Will I always. I'll try. I miss your livestream.
The own community ruined it for themselves an made it no more fun to fly
Very true brother. The Government is not our friend nor should pilots be selling people out for ridiculous regulations that don't make any sense.
That line at the track was FIREEEEE THO sheeeeew
🤘😎 🔥
Now imagine how we fixed wing guys feel. Been doing this for decades and we get roped into something we didn't cause. Government overreach and failure of the highest order.
Word.
💪😎🤘
I love this. So so true my friend. But i do want to say that peace and release from life your looking for is only truly found in Jesus Christ. Theres not hobby that will free you or bring that piece i hear you talking about. We have all sinned we need to get right with God and find true rest. Trust in him my friend. I promise you no material thing will fullfill maybe temporaily. But i want you to have that peace. Read the word trust in him, repent. Find that peace and see how much more you will love your hobbys. Thanks again for the video!

How sad.

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate all opinions and for contributing.
Really feelin your intense passion bro.
Good rant...
Thanks Paul! It makes me so sad to see something we all love get divided by our corrupt government. Sad times.
