I have a Part 107, and a Mini 2. LOL I can fly if I want "recreate", but I can't fly if I want to make a dollar. It makes no sense. The drone didn't change when I wanted to get paid. Everything is stupid, and that they haven't carved out an exception for these 256g drones for Part 107 pilots is extremely frustrating. Why should I have to buy a new $1200 drone? There isn't anything wrong wrong my old $1200 drone.

Question is: how far away can someone be to detect your drone with the drone scanner apps? Answer is if someone is at least 2 miles away from your location or the drone’s location the rid will not show up on the drone scanner app. After extensive testing it is determined that the rid I operating off of Bluetooth? So how far can you walk away from your phone when listening to music with headphones? That’s not very far. Have you ever tried to login to the drone scanner app and didn’t see drones flying across the United States 😂 when you download flight radar app it will show you manned aircrafts everywhere weather they are approaching your location or flying somewhere else. It will also show you their altitude and where they are flying from and to. But you can’t be in Florida and see drones flying around in New York. So if someone was to see your drone showing up on the drone app then they would have to be pretty close to your location in order to see it. And if they are already that close chances are they don’t need the app to spot you in the first place. Rid is not what you think it is. The FAA can’t tell when you are flying unless they are already close to you in the first place.

@rginiasBigred271 Officials caught someone flying a drone over a stadium during an NFL game recently. The game was stopped because of the drone, and he is facing felony charges. Officials have better means of tracking than you. Some reports said he launched from three miles away. But my statement also relates to situations where you can fly a drone legally, but may be challenged by others that don't know drone rules.

Hello. I've just got a HoverAir X1 in hand. I'm planning to shoot videos in Japan but I found that the X1 Console did not have built-in Remote ID module. Great video Ken,
I have a couple of questions regarding the Drone Scanner app and the Air2s. After a flight, does the DS app record everything to memory? Where would you look up this information?

    • @uavcoach
      @uavcoach  Месяц назад

To the best of my knowledge, Drone Scanner doesn't record/save anything.
But from the main screen when a drone is transmitting RID info, tap on the Drone Serial number and when the Information screen is displayed, tap the 3 dots at top right of the screen.
From there you can export data. I'm not sure if this data is dynamic or static.

Easy. Look up remote ID module on Google. Buy one. Add it to your drone registration with the FAA. Attach that remote ID module to your drone and have it charged and on anytime you fly. Additionally don't forget the lights too if it's near sunset. Then buy an extra battery because all the extra weight is going to drain your batteries faster.

Good video. Excellent explanation. First, there doesn't seem to be an issue with getting Remote ID modules as I have purchased 3 different ones from 3 different vendors and received all of them. From my perspective, some folks are confused about what flying solely for recreation or "just for fun" means. If the flight benefits anyone (regardless of money) or the video is posted to a monetized platform such as RUclips, then the flight does NOT qualify for the Recreational Exemption. The "content providers" are flying a Part 107 activity. Just fly for fun and don't post the video to YT.

    Ken, fun fact…😀
With the current firmware update a DJI Mini 3 Pro’s RID won’t activate if you use an ultra light 249g battery….🤷🏻
You have to use the heavier intelligent plus battery to have it activate…🤦🏻‍♂️
    That could cause a conundrum…🧐
On another note, the UAV Coach’s TRUST is saying.
“If you already have your FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, you do not need to go through this training, unless you plan to fly under the recreational rules.”
    I don’t believe that to be accurate…🤔
Where does it say that a Part 107 Pilot needs TRUST to operate recreationally?

With the DJI Mini 3 and 4, the firmware updates added the remote ID to the drones automatically, buuuut, the only time that the remote ID activates on the DJI MINI 3/4 is when the extended life battery is used.
But to answer your question, I can't answer your question. If I knew that answer, mine would be completely free of remote ID. So we are pretty much able to fly free of tracking using the regular 249g battery but the second you add that extended range battery, it links. They also expect us to have it if you add a strobe light or anything else to them. It's stupid.

This whole drone regulation thing is all big daddy government over reach. It has been detrimental to the model aviation hobby. On top of that it is convoluted and way overdone, as is the case with most FAA (or any government agency) regulations. A prime example: Lets say someone has a DJI Mini 2 that they use strictly for recreational use, and they want to teach a younger person to fly that Mini. So trying to be a responsible person they put the blade cages that came with it on just for added safety. But now that they've done that they've exceeded the max weight to be recreational and now that drone has to be registered, plus remote ID installed, oh and don't forget that now its not able to be classed for the recreational exemption... that kid that wanted to learn to fly that drone now has to be licensed as a part 107 aircraft operator or get hit with a fine up to $32000 and isn't even out of grade school yet? And just because you put on blade cages to be on the safe side, that's Straight Dictatorship BS. Even more so when you consider the government and its smooth brained FED boys don't have to abide by the same regulations.
