sonobe yoshimoto cube - tutorial - dutchpapergirl

I like origami! I like moving paper as well...
This project combines the 2!!!
For 8 cubes you need 8 x 6 colours (48 pieces in total); 7,5 x 7,5 cm
For the connecting parts you need 16 pieces: 5,3 x 5,3 cm. Colours: depending on the colours you use...4 + 8 +4 pieces

I have just completed one of these. The entire cube is 25mm across. It would be neater if it were bigger, but I am actually quite pleased with how well it moves. The connecting pieces were definitely the smallest sonobe units I've ever made.

Damn! I made this about 7 years ago when i notice that sonobe cube module can be use to make a flat grid, like a rug, but i use scotch tape to conect the cubes. How sweet memories :')

I think you need to explain that the mirrored cubes aren't across from each other. when you were doing the animation, you should have specified where each 1 and 2 type showed up. i was able to figure it out when you showed the side of the cube, but it was confusing at first

Wonderful, I'm familer with the sonobe cube and the Yoshimoto cube, but never thought about combining them before. Out of interest, could you not use the units of the cube to join them, rather than making additional pieces?

I guess you could, but I think you will end up with a lot of loose ends...
