    I don't understand why people care so much about the tape. Honestly, WHO CARES?! It's a freaking paper ball, the only way to make it is with tape or glue. So what's the damn issue? "Origami can't use tape." Oh sorry, I forgot that if you don't follow the origami rule book, you get your gonads chopped off.

      damn he has some skills, I could only do the magic ball by 9 years old, and that was with the easy method.
      Basically, after making the 32 by 16 grid, what you wanna do is make a diagonal crease through every square and work your way up. Then repeat the other direction.
      But I found that a problem is it makes a few ugly extra creases, and that while working, those creases can pop out and cause problems, especially when you squish it. I also found it weakens the overall integrity, making it softer and more easily to rip.
      But you should do the easy method first.

    I suggest a larger size for the first time. My second attempt I used 7"x14" paper from legal size sheet and it was so much easier to fold. My first attempt was with 14cm x 28cm as noted in the video description. Also remember to repress existing folds often. I find this strengthens the "memory" of the paper making it easier to fold back easily into place. Not sure what kind of tape was used but so far in my first 2 attempts joining the ends has affected the folds and the ball doesn't shape evenly. Otherwise, this is a very cool folding.

    I don't know why so many people are complaining about this. It's certainly not the easiest model around, and the explanations are not the most detailed. Although, I managed to complete after 5-6 hours, most of the time procrastinating. What I can say as advice, if you are looking for, is: Be very precise with the creases (mark them very strongly with your nails); pay attention to the top-right scheme; in each step ask yourself how many times he folded, how the sheet looks and if it looks like your attempt. The final result is worth the time spent. :)

    I always tried this as a kid but couldn’t even get the measurements right
    Now I’m 16, I’ve taken geometry, and it’s my thanksgiving break
    TOOK ME LIKE 6 HOURS
    Was it worth it?
    Yeah cause it can become a cylinder and a ball and a pancake
    AWESOME!

    When I saw this video for the first time in 2012, I tried to do this thing and nothing worked. I couldn't even do that part, where need to fold the paper 32 times, and I just tear and threw it. And today I finally made it. It took me 3 days, for a few hours in each day, and the final result is still not perfect. But I'm happy, that I made this, after such a long time :3

    Why's everybody whining lol. C'mon guys, I'm making this like 1000th time and now I can literally make it from scratch with my eyes closed. I mad my first model when I was 8 I guess, I didn't have internet access back then but I had Origami Book by Yuri Shumakov, I still do. This was my first complex origami model. I still love it, it's been 10 years since, I'm 18 now.

    I can't explain how much emotion i have with this , probably in 2016 or 2017 when i knew nothing about origami, this thumbnail came in a news, when i turned the video , i was stunned how cool is this , i was obsessed with it so i could make it , this is the video that introduced me with the origami world!
    Thank u so much and good luck!

    I usually have a certain rule with origami. If it is longer than 10 minutes I don't do it, because I know that 1 minute will translate into 5-6 minutes of me going back to the same step.

    • @judzos
      @judzos 6 лет назад +25

      This certain rule will actually prevent you from doing anything genuinely impressive.

    • @judzos
      @judzos 5 лет назад +5

      Burnt Potato I know right, this bullshit of a rule is one of the most idiotic things I have ever heard. Origami is about patience. If you want to fold something, then take your time. You won’t set a timer next to you and after 9 minutes the origami finishes by itself.

    If you actually read what he says, he doesn't do the DIAGONAL creases....
    However, if you put the diagonals...you will save yourself time and it will become a lot easier..
    1. Do creases
    2. Do diagonals
    3. Follow this tutorial the same way, and everything becomes 50% easier with very little ripping. :) try it
