This was my fist FF game and I agree with your takes. I’m not much of a side quest guy especially when it is presented like this, but I loved the combat and the synergy building. My favorite aspect being the story and the Atmosphere.
Would you recommend trying the FF7 Remake demo?
I highly recommend FF7R, much better than 16 in my opinion. I have a soft spot for 7 because the original was so good, but remake is definitely worth your time
Outside of ff7 remake and ff14, we haven’t had a good final fantasy since 10. This is better then most games since.

Naaah, since 15 cause they got better magic feel than 16. Anything closer would be ff13. 10 does has an impactful story(if you mean that).

That's a matter of opinion. 12 and 13 has their fans, as well. 15, is probably the one that most agree on, though that too has it's fans. Honestly, 15 would have been much better if they had focused on making a coherent game from the start without tying it into anime, comics, etc, and trying to force you to buy dlc.
totally agree with this. its a great game, but kinda drags on if you do all of the sidequests. however, i feel like they were still rewarding enough to complete.

Imma say something that will probably piss a lot of people off, but I’ve been enjoying this game more than ff7 rebirth lol. Not as bloated and open world. I am very sick of open world games. Loved rebirth but I just kind of dragged in some parts

I agree. Rebirth drags in alot of areas and the side quests take away from the story.
If they ever Remaster it, you should try 13. After Rebirth, a game with no minigames sounds great lol.
This game made me cry, and it takes ALOT for me to cry, thats how you know this story is fkin good!
Overated and under-reviewed
The game hardly counts as an RPG and doesn't excel as an action game. Looks pretty and the voice acting is phenomenal but story has horrid pacing

Later side quest have excellent quest chains for reoccuring side character arcs, deep world building lore like Bearers use to rule the world originally. Or a secret agency that looks after the Rosfield royal family for generations, which is major plothole looking after Joshua whole time but didnt save Clive left to be a battle slave...wtf seriously. Or Joshua not letting his bro and uncle know he is alive for years but tells the Dragon Prince instead lol. Its just really dumbshit like that ruin story for me, while side quest stories saved it.
