    I am a little confused about how you have USC breathing LSU and ND, but losing to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Washington.

    • @collegefootballwithsam
      @collegefootballwithsam  Месяц назад +2

      I think USC is going to be an extremely confusing team this year. LSU has lost a similar amount of production compared to USC and I think that their matchup will come down to which QB is the most comfortable in their team's system. I lean Miller Moss being the better and more comfortable QB than Garrett Nussmeier. I think Wisconsin and Minnesota will have near-elite rushing attacks and Wisconsin will have an annoyingly good WR room. Plus, Minnesota is on the road and after back-to-back games against Michigan and Wisconsin I think that is a tough spot for the Trojans. Washington is probably the loss that I would most likely change into a win, and I think USC will play up to Notre Dame to close out the year strong.

    These are my thoughts after watching:
    MARYLAND: I most definitely have biased but Maryland going 3-9 just feels wrong. I feel like 5-7 is if things go absolutely haywire; the floor. The ceiling should be somewhere around 8-4, because I could see them starting 6-0.
    UCLA: I haven’t totally dug into them but my first impression is that they are just kinda average right now. I think 3-9 is a little low but 7-5 might be a stretch.
    RUTGERS: Ive always really liked Rutgers because I feel like they’ve grown up with my terps trying to scratch for wins in the Big ten. With that being said, a bit high. 10-2 just is a number I’m not ready to put on them even with the schedule because I’m just not all the way sure yet. I wouldn’t be totally shocked if they won 9 or 8 games this season but 10 wins is something I’m not quite ready to put my mind on.
    ILLINOIS: I know things like this happen where illinois, Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana go bowling one year, but I don’t think this is the team. I don’t really see Kansas being a win, or them beating all 3 of the (what I think to be) winnable games that you have them winning in the conference.
    MICHIGAN STATE: I think the time is coming for them to rise because Jonathan is gonna have that program pumping again, I just don’t totally know if they weld everything together in his first year.
    The rest of the teams you and I agree on. I maybe would have Michigan loosing a game or two more than you do. I love watching these videos, and the debates/discussions they bring. Keep up the good work.
    Go terps!

  • @sc100ott

    I think you are very brave making these predictions at this point in the year. I think there are so many variables in this Brand New Big Ten, it is impossible to predict anything, other than to say Ohio State and Oregon will be elite, and Michigan and Penn State are capable of competing at the top. I think, between new coaches, transfer portal, new teams, and scheduling, it’s going to be tough to predict who might shake out at the bottom, and who might be a surprise 9-3 team.

  • @ohrick8707
    @ohrick8707 Месяц назад

    Sam, I have to hand it to you, projecting so early. However, that is good; stirring the pot makes for a lively conversation. It’s hard to catch up when you’re down three touchdowns trying to cover by pounding the Rock. USC linemen will be better on both sides. Our O-line doesn’t have to push but protect. My call is Oregon and OSU battling, and USC and PSU as wild cards. MSU will be formidable. They could go as far as you suggest. SC has the best secondary I’ve seen in over a decade. They square up and tackle-something sorely missing before. No matter what happens, it will be interesting and exciting! USC will know a lot more after the LSU game. ✌️

      I feel the same towards the Buckeyes special teams. They've been pedestrian to bad for years with mistakes on fake punts happening frequently. Also, I can not remember the last time my Buckeyes ran back a punt or kickoff for a TD and our FG kickers have not been clutch. People voting them #1 were just being homers I guess.

    • @cacogenicist
      @cacogenicist Месяц назад

      Yeah, UO's special teams should be _better_ this year, but that's not a high bar, for sure. Hoping for pedestrian over horrible.
      I think the Ducks have the #1 offense by a reasonable margin over Ohio State. A very good top-2 RBs in Jordan James and Noah Whittington, maybe the best receiver room in the country with Tez Johnson, Evan Stewart, Traeshon Holden et al (tons of depth). And they'll have a top-5 O-line in the country in front of a highly experienced, very high floor QB.
      On D, some _very_ good starters all over, but with a couple thin spots in terms of depth. I think Oregon will try to grab another quality safety and DT in the portal.

Ohio St's only struggle will be Oregon & Penn St possibly. Then in the playoffs, I see Georgia or Oregon, if they get in, as a problem.
