At least BAFTA got it right that year. Carey Mulligan is one of the best actresses of her generation (among Jessica Chastain and Michelle Williams) in my opinion. She was so natural and wonderful in An Education.
Finger crossed, If she wins an Oscar i can finally sleep in peace. I'll do everything i can to make her win that Oscar. Carey's performance is my favorite performance by an actress of 2020
@@iz8036 I heard that she's a frontrunner, despite being snubbed at the BAFTA and not winning the Golden Globe, she won a Critics Choice and National Board of Review for Best Actress, so she's definitely a frontrunner for that Oscar
So pure, just real. That's life to enjoy. Ms (Mrs.?) Carey Mulligan, congratulations. I would be completely speachless if I would ever run into you at a coffee shop. I bet you are like a mic drop when you walk into any room. Best
@oohlalaladior She won because she is 1) a remarkably talented actress and 2) she is one of the most astonishingly beautiful women in the world. And it's nice that she's British and not yet another artificial American product of Hollywood. Watch out for her. She'll stun us all in the years to come.
She deserved the Oscar. Sandra's performance barely deserved the nod., but Carey Mulligan was the definite winner. She was flawless in An Education. I'd like to see how Sandra could perform a better Jenny..
Carey Mulligan is so damn cute. I'll admit I have a girl crush on her. An Education was fabulous, and this is one of the most deserving winners of the night. :)
i was sooo happy that carey won but i really really wanted gabourey sidibe 2 win.........she deserves at least one major win for her moving and unforgettable performance
aww, her mom looks so much like her! and my my, what a snazzy dresser the presenter is :). but i agree, carey's performance was more deserving of the oscar while sandra won more for "career longevity," not that I'm sorry to see sandra win btw. but a girl this talented....we'll see her at award shows again. while i can't say the same for sandra, so i suppose the academy wanted to throw her a bone. not to be harsh..
@HaveASpoonOfMagic the blind side was a typical emotive American film, the sort of thing they eat up at the Oscars. you're completely right, she doesn't need anything to prove her worth.
@marikesl - Funny but i was just thinking of how great Carey would be if they ever remade the James Garner-Julie Andrews "The Americanization of Emily". .... but honestly the original is perfect.
Rourke was not grotesque, spaced or buzzed and was actually very amusing to anyone who can look beyond instant factors and understand the gist of what he was getting at.
Do you really? You liked her? I'm ashtonished, 'cause I thought I was the only one. For me, I think it's a really underrated performance. She was spot on. People just don't understand it... =( xD
@WhiteFlowerLei76 Mickey Rourke was actually quite handsome when he was younger. I saw one of his earlier DVDs in a store and when the name was his I was really surprised because I didn't recognize him at all at that young age!
what??? she was the firm favourite to win. She MUST have prepared something to say. It's based on a book by Lynn Barber - she could've thanked her at least! Cobblers.
i agree because i supported meryl. i just wonder why they don't only nominate british people, the result would be the same anyway. Like here in france we have our own awards. But I like Carey as well and i'm sure she's great in An Education, so i'm happy for her indeed =) But Go meryl for the oscars! and i'm really glad "A prophet" won , veyr proud =)
@thetriptobountiful I think it's a case of British taste and preference. The Oscars are more about the high-budget and hollywood films. At the Baftas, 'The Blind Side' would never get a look in. In the states this is true of Coco Before Chanel, and Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll. The British generally prerfer the european indie-esque films, and I guess this is reflected in who wins etc. This probably makes no sense, but I do have a point, I promise! aha.
@thetriptobountiful Largely because it's voted by members of the British Academy, and ANY awards show is at least partially political (and in my opinion, should be). It's the same reason Oscars mostly (last few years not included, although this year included) go to American performances. Have you noticed how the lowest rated years have been European winners mostly?
Oh, seriously? I didn't know that. But to be fair, it's a very "American" film, so I'm not too sure that it would do all that well outside of the US anyway. (i.e. at the Baftas) Also, @queenbeehoneyd I disagree that the Oscars are more diverse; they Academy recognised the fact that they weren't diverse enough hence the reason there are 10 nominations for Best Picture. This was supposed to allow more room for foreign films, but they ended up filling the gaps with American romcoms!
Waooo, amazing, i think that she truly did a great performance, a british girl playing a british girl, i mean what the hell did she do, better than Meryl Streep, they should`n nominate amercan people if the are going to do that, Colin Firth, are this people crazy?, did they see jeff bridges performance, oh my God, Meryl Streep did something remarkable in julie and julia, i just couldn`t believed it.
it's a shame :( they have a panel of 10-12 picking the nominations in order to diversify the categories, Viola Davis and Carey have both won BAFTAs before so i think they thought it be best to not put them through
the oscars will be very interesting indeed since a different actress now won a golden globe (meryl streep), a SAG award (sandra bullock), and a BAFTA. so its anyone's guess whos going to win an oscar for best actress.
Can someone kindly explain to me why most of the time the BAFTA acting awards go to the Brits? there are many outstanding performances by non-brits that have been overlooked over the years if im not wrong, it includes Katherine Hepburn's, Meryl streep's etc. P.S don't just simply say " oh, because it's brits awards so the brits should get it"
What the hell? Ok so Sandra's movie was not eligible. But Meryl Streep should've won. There's a reason Sandra won at every other award show, including the biggest award in the world- Oscars. Screw this shit, it has no credibility...some unkonwn actress got the award just for showing up. Pathetic.
The Blind Side is a horrible film. The Oscars only nominated it because it was financially successful, and they thought it would draw a larger conservative audience. They were right. Sandra Bullock's performance was also awful. : ) Carey Mulligan was great in An Education, though.
At least BAFTA got it right that year.
Carey Mulligan is one of the best actresses of her generation (among Jessica Chastain and Michelle Williams) in my opinion. She was so natural and wonderful in An Education.
Neither Jessica nor Michelle wins
I think Scatlett Johansson is also in the best in this generation
British actress is the best
Imagine this but she's accepting an Oscar for Promising Young Woman.
Could happen... Fingers crossed...
fingers crossed indeed
Will happen... She is the frontrunner
Finger crossed, If she wins an Oscar i can finally sleep in peace. I'll do everything i can to make her win that Oscar. Carey's performance is my favorite performance by an actress of 2020
@@Fl0k5ser ah this is for sure me, will be able to sleep in peace!!
@@iz8036 I heard that she's a frontrunner, despite being snubbed at the BAFTA and not winning the Golden Globe, she won a Critics Choice and National Board of Review for Best Actress, so she's definitely a frontrunner for that Oscar
She deserved the Oscar
BAFTA IS BETTER.
Her accent is amazing. I love it, it is so classy.
She is so cute and talented. I love her so much ! Hope she gets Oscar.
One of the most elegant and talented actress in the world!
Hope she will get nominated again this year with Daisy in The Great Gatsby.
She's adorable, man. So lively and charismatic, not to mention talented. She's just great.
I'm glad she won something this awards season. She deserved to win something.
She was so talented in such an young age.
She almost made me cry. So sincere! You go, Carey!! :) Greetings from Croatia. :P
I love Mickey Rourke. He's so natural and likeable! And I adore Carey, and her voice is just so deep and beautiful.
Aw, she looks just like her mom. Precious
I AM SO HAPPY THAT SANDRA BULLOCK WAS NOT NOMINATED AT BAFTA! THEY MADE ME HAPPY CAREY DESERVED THIS AWARD! AND ALSO THE OSCAR! :)
Sandra Bullock is so overrated
Lovely Carey Mulligan. Good style. Love her.
you are absolutely right about different ways to appreciate a movie or an actor role, in my personal opinion i think Carey deserves it
This BAFTA win will be a nice momentum builder for the Oscar. This delightful girl deserves all the success she is receiving.
Can't wait to see her winning the Oscar! This is the year for Carey Mulligan.
wow george clooney really looks stunning in this video
Carey's mom is as beautiful as she is!
And they look exactly alike!!
and she's not nominated this year for her brilliant performance in Promising Young Woman. Diabolical!
Ikr, but finger crossed she will win that Oscar. She's already a frontrunner more than Andra, Viola, Frances and Vanessa
7 words: HOT, LOVELY BRITISH ACCENT, GREAT ACTRESS, STUNNING!
Beautiful Carey
So pure, just real. That's life to enjoy. Ms (Mrs.?) Carey Mulligan, congratulations. I would be completely speachless if I would ever run into you at a coffee shop. I bet you are like a mic drop when you walk into any room. Best
i love her!she is the cutest person ive ever seen!
Hope she'll finally get her first Oscar after such a surprising snub from Bafta this year.
I ain't watching BAFTA this year because of so many snubs including Carey....Such a shame and dissapointment
She didn’t get it :(
@oohlalaladior She won because she is 1) a remarkably talented actress and 2) she is one of the most astonishingly beautiful women in the world. And it's nice that she's British and not yet another artificial American product of Hollywood. Watch out for her. She'll stun us all in the years to come.
I'm from Brazil and I saw "An Education" just yesterday. Must say, in my opinion, she deserves the Academmy Award far better than Sandra Bullock.
i looove her and her hair looks fabulous on her!
She deserved the Oscar. Sandra's performance barely deserved the nod., but Carey Mulligan was the definite winner. She was flawless in An Education. I'd like to see how Sandra could perform a better Jenny..
LOVED her dress here.
REAL TALENT
She is awesome! The first movie I saw her in was Drive (2011)! :) :D
Goodness me does she look like her mother! Beauties, the two of them!
i like that she's the sort of celebrity that became famous over night!!
She's such a sweetheart.
love her
her british accent ❤
I don't know how Sandra did it. But it was NOT a good decision to snub Carey.
Carey Mulligan is so damn cute. I'll admit I have a girl crush on her. An Education was fabulous, and this is one of the most deserving winners of the night. :)
she and emma watson sound very similar! love their accents
Yayyy, i hope she could pull a Cotillard or Brody come Oscar Night!
i wish i could wear her hairstyle. she's so cute.
i was sooo happy that carey won but i really really wanted gabourey sidibe 2 win.........she deserves at least one major win for her moving and unforgettable performance
I hope she wins the oscar
this girls growing on me , seriously i didnt like at first but now i think imm in love with her
I agree.
carey should play julie andrews if her life is made into a movie!!!
Is the only actress I know, that looks good with short hair.
Im serious.
Take notice of Turkish actress Tuba Büyüküstün.
Michelle Williams too, she has the same amount of short hair like Carey
aww, her mom looks so much like her! and my my, what a snazzy dresser the presenter is :).
but i agree, carey's performance was more deserving of the oscar while sandra won more for "career longevity," not that I'm sorry to see sandra win btw. but a girl this talented....we'll see her at award shows again. while i can't say the same for sandra, so i suppose the academy wanted to throw her a bone. not to be harsh..
Sandra Bullock won the Oscar the same year for what I consider the Thie Birth of a Nation of 2009: The Blind Side.
Thank you Bafta, you got it right !
lol she's so cute whenever she places both her hands on her tummy..xDD
@HaveASpoonOfMagic the blind side was a typical emotive American film, the sort of thing they eat up at the Oscars. you're completely right, she doesn't need anything to prove her worth.

she will
what a dress!
Do you really? You liked her? I'm ashtonished, 'cause I thought I was the only one. For me, I think it's a really underrated performance. She was spot on. People just don't understand it... =(
xD
me too!
Do not speak about Oscars on a BAFTA video, please.
It's demeaning to the latter to compare it to the former, in regards to artistic validity.
Her first film was Pride& Prejudice, right?
carey mulligan winning this award was obvious
as well as would have been carey mulligan winning the oscar a few weeks later
@WhiteFlowerLei76 Mickey Rourke was actually quite handsome when he was younger. I saw one of his earlier DVDs in a store and when the name was his I was really surprised because I didn't recognize him at all at that young age!
@camilovox TOTALLY AGREE, didn't know what Oscar was thinking. But then again it's Oscar...
@AcademyAwardsPerson indeed thumbs up if you agree
Brill!!!
Thumbs up if you came here because of the great gatsby
what??? she was the firm favourite to win. She MUST have prepared something to say. It's based on a book by Lynn Barber - she could've thanked her at least! Cobblers.
Because she gave a great performance?
@evenyscrewd thank you i totally agree!

Next up, promising young woman

(the writer may have raised his eyebrows because the character was based on a real person)

@MisSeductive The reason Sandra won all the other awards is because of a good campaign. Hell, she probably bought the Oscar. Most do.
Because America.
Saoirse Ronan did not look happy. In fact, she looked like she was ready to leave!
what film is she talking about?
Honestly, I think we all know who stole the show at 1:48...Precious.
@oohlalaladior what was your comment???
Oh, seriously? I didn't know that. But to be fair, it's a very "American" film, so I'm not too sure that it would do all that well outside of the US anyway. (i.e. at the Baftas)

Thankfully she saved that gorgeous Prada for the Oscars, the dress she's wearing here isn't all that awesome...
@waywardwatchdog1 Yeah. The Blind Side was one giant cliche. Embarrassing!
@carlyle101 Yeah, way to make the girl's special moment all about you Mickey. Class act.
my uncle end of the row
Get over yourself, the Oscars isn't what it used to be anyway.
bullock's performance isn't even on par with mulligan's. i think the petit british student outacted the football mom
met her twice. she is lovely. see my video
And this year not even nominated. So wrong.
it's a shame :( they have a panel of 10-12 picking the nominations in order to diversify the categories, Viola Davis and Carey have both won BAFTAs before so i think they thought it be best to not put them through

Sandra since her film was high grossing 😮

P.S don't just simply say " oh, because it's brits awards so the brits should get it"
Mickey Rourke's face is looking a little loose and droopy. He should really consider some botox and a facelift.
Mickey Rourke is hideous. Carey should have won the Oscar, her film was way better than the overrated Blind Side.
What the hell? Ok so Sandra's movie was not eligible. But Meryl Streep should've won. There's a reason Sandra won at every other award show, including the biggest award in the world- Oscars. Screw this shit, it has no credibility...some unkonwn actress got the award just for showing up. Pathetic.

He looks grotesque, and sounds drunk/spaced/buzzed, a total disgrace.
Her speech was so text book boring.
Gabourey Sidibe is overrated.
awkward speech
