You can't luck into a pole position in the wet, he did the best job under the conditions that makes the driver part of the driver/car performance ratio the highest in favor of the driver. It's far more impressive getting a pole in a backmarker car than anything else a driver can do imo. The wet just makes it possible where it is not in the dry.
The feeling of being there just a few meters from the pitlane was incredible, I can't describe it. Watching this video now, I get goosebumps because it was something surreal! Interlagos always provides us with unforgettable moments.
I was so happy for Kevin that day! He went out when it mattered most and when nobody could improve because the track so wet, it was able to celebrate it in his garage when usually a driver celebrates over the radio
I remember it like it was yesterday. First pole for a Danish driver and the first pole for an American F1 team in 50 years. Interlagos truly deserves its place on the calendar. If there's one track that I would recommend visiting at least once, is this one
Kev has raked in lots of points for Haas over the years, a few here and there. As for high ranks, his debut in McLaren was a 2nd in 2014 behind Rosberg.
Somehow Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg are the two most unluckiest drivers of all time. So much potential and talent but yet, they're always unlucky to not end up on the top 3 steps of the podium. Sigh
I mean, yes, the Haas shouldn't be able to be on pole? Everyone knew that Kevin would slide backwards in the sprint. It only made it even more amazing that he managed to do this to begin with.
this long in the.. sports... How could've he possibly pay the rent all these years? Without ever perfoming...where is this secret exeptionalized society based? XD
As lucky as this seemingly was, he still drove a great banker lap when the others didn't. Great moment
Yeah, even a better lap than Verstappen
Yep. We make our own luck.
@@ebs1895 From my memory, Max was struggling with his car on that day. Hitting the curbs and causing his car to unsettle.
Exactly. Luck or not it's always wholesome when drivers from lesser cars rub shoulders with the big boys

I hope we see this kind of epic moment again this year 🇧🇷🇧🇷
😂
As much as we wish it happen, I don’t think so…
It's gonna rain again on the Friday
Let's go. If one of the bottom 4 teams get on pole, it would be epic
One of the highlights of 2022, well done KMag! 🎉
That image of Kevin celebrating with the pit crew on top of his car is forever engrained in my mind.

That has to be one of the best core memories ever, so insane you got to see that!!
Best moment of 2022

really want interlagos to be the last race every year...lots of unforgettable moments here like winning championships and heart breaking moments❤
Yeah like if it was Brazil 2021 last race Hamilton might have won on the back straight
I remember it like it was yesterday. First pole for a Danish driver and the first pole for an American F1 team in 50 years. Interlagos truly deserves its place on the calendar. If there's one track that I would recommend visiting at least once, is this one
And the following day he came in 8th. in the sprintrace. Must have been the most cherised single point in F1 history.

@@LarsAgerbk Yes, but it was also the best car by far.
@@Soli11 yes the FIA should make an exception and allow Haas to bring back the old car lol
Especially with the mega-sandwhich which was Schumacher 20th and Magnussen 1st, felt very nice.
I was wathing this live on TV 😊
I wanna see this guy on podium at least one time on his F1 career.
He had a P2 on his debut with McLaren at the 2014 Australian GP.
@@razvanmazilu6284 yeah but it would be extra cool seeing him on the podium again but with Haas
I remember that. It brought tears of joy for Kevin and the team. Could only imagine the stress waiting during the red flag
"You're P1" That is what you love to hear after quali. 😃
( Except in Mexico )
Missed upportunity.
What position are we? - POLE position!
Right place at the right time Kev...What a brilliant moment in F1 history 👍🇦🇺
An amazing moment
Wholesome moment in F1 2022
Very memorable moment for K Mag, felt like it was yesterday
Kevin would have deserved to get more out of this weekend than just a single point.
Really glad that long term drivers like kmag who never have much success in the sport still get their moments in the sun 🙏🏼
At that moment my daughter was born. It was an amazing day!
Hope Magnussen gain a great position!
去年のあの日は最高に感動させてもらいました!
あの感動をもう一度!
Come on!Kevin!
Funny how both Haas drivers have one pole position...BOTH at Sao Paulo
Should watch the @rocketpoweredMohawk edit of his celebration..that was epic
Interlagos fantastic circuit
Fantastisk øjeblik. Kevin
Kev is always quick but unlucky. Wasnt given a change by bigger teams
what a moment
Brilliant lap that was❤
It was magical
Such a shame that this was during a sprint weekend, only to get taken out during Lap 1
He wouldn't have gotten points anyway
@@metro3313he would have got p10 in the actual race if he was not taken out
That was epic...
Well done kmag, Hass team for pole
Such an epic moment. The day the underdog succeeded.
I really liked Haas' predominantly blue team uniform contrasting with the white race suits...
He scored 2 Times that day...
And now look where he qualifies in 2023
Imagine what would have happened if Hulkenberg had been in Haas in 2022 as well. Remember 2010? I suspect we would have been looking at a Haas 1-2!
Too bad that pole wasn't for the main race.
He is still credited with pole position in the official records though. And it would have been for the main GP had there not been a sprint race.
That pole made me cry everytime I watched it last year & just this past weekend I just *thought* about it, pictured the images & began tearing up 🥲 😅😅
Somehow Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg are the two most unluckiest drivers of all time. So much potential and talent but yet, they're always unlucky to not end up on the top 3 steps of the podium. Sigh
Kevin has a podium. He was 2nd in his first F1 race ever.
@@Soli11 I know he has a podium and he got it in his first race. But ever since then, he never stood on the podium again
when youre a solid 5/10 tryna bag the 10/10 but you remember this happened
imagine the race🏁 was cancelled the next day 🔥
One banker lap isn’t enough😏
A popular pole
And then the next day Ricciardo took him out in the first lap
No it was Daniel Ricciardo

F1 Backmarkers and second rung Carmakers need such a morale and confidence boost. Else what's the point in keeping 10 teams.
10 teams is still too few. Not even 15 years ago there were at least 13 teams, which was considered a small grid even back then.
K mag my father❤
Meanwhile his teammate, Crashmacher, was last and 2,4s slower than Magnussen in Q1, even 2s from making it out of Q1.
Yeah we would have needed the Hulk already last year in the second Haas
👏👏👏👏👏👏
And it was ruined by the idiotic sprint
Not that it mattered because Ricciardo took him out on the first lap…
@@the9der352 didn't you think that if there was no sprint race he wouldn't have been anywhere near Ricciardo?
