I borrowed a Rigid multitool from someone to cut a couple of outlet openings for a vanity mirror I was building and I was happy with the results as there was no way I could of cut the openings so accurate and clean using a jig saw. I ended up purchasing a Dewalt with the 3 speed settings. Get a multitool, you'll be glad you did. There were a lot of times that it would made jobs easier if I had one back then. Now that I have one it has made my life easier and saved me a lot of time. For example I had to replace some boards on my deck staircase. Each step had 3 boards and some of the rotted boards were in middle or the back so to get to them I would of had to pull out the good boards in front of them to get to the back ones risking damaging the good ones and then reattaching them. Well outcomes the multitool which saved me the trouble. I was able to cut away the bad boards and giving me access to the nails with a pry bar so I didn't risk damaging the good boards and wasting time removing them and reinstalling them. It also came in handy when I had to replace some portions of smart siding instead of whole panels. Since the blade is so small and the motion is minimal and the ability to almost lay it flat i was able to get it in between the panels and some other tight places that a jig saw or circular saw couldn't.
I just this tool and came with a bag battery and charger and a few blades and sanders on sale for 129.00 at lowes but I also have the corded version kit I got awhile back and only used it one time because I keep forgetting I have it or never think of it when I need it.
Why they don't make the variable speed trigger clear is silly (I almost excluded it just for that reason) and the 3 RANGE selector on the base - like a 3 speed gearbox selector and full control with the trigger in that range. Thanks for making that clear!
Here in 2023..in UK…Amazon sells many of these DCS355 models…BUT hold your hat, almost all listings, except one, do NOT have the three speed switch and if you want it you have to get the 355B model costing 30% more..for a switch!!! I did get the ‘B’ version because I noticed it on a YT review like this one…but it is not common knowledge over here!

No kidding! I looked SO long to see it was before I got mine. No info only anywhere. It does have it, which is rad. Still LOVE this tool!
