The new DeWalt multi tool comes with an screw and washer so you can use the star lock blades. Also with the screw and washer you can attach 2 blades to cut a slot. Thanks buddy.
Thanks for the info. I'll try and get my hands on one. 👍
Good information I was wondering what the Allen key and washer ect was for 👍
Quick safety observation. Always remove battery when replacing blade. 2:08, your other hand is near the trigger and while other hand is replacing blade.. am sweating over here for that maneuver.
You're not wrong 👍💪
I know this is about the multitool. But if you want to convert a DeWalt tool to chase, you can get an angle grinder groove conversion fitting which you can use for the dewalt angle grinder. It fits up to 4 blades and is very handy for chasing
That sounds interesting, I'll keep my eye out for it 👍
Thank you for answering my question. I bought a Diablo star lock blade and I’m pulling my hair out trying to install it. Haha 😂
Lol, wish you'd have filmed that!
good demo & size comparison, Sam, wonder if the blade can be skewed off to the side, would that give clearance for your nifty double blade trick?
There's not enough space for the 2 blades to sit/be held in place by the teeth, unless, maybe they can be fitted one at a time?
You'll have to try it and let us know.
I need to cut out stencils of 1/2in plywood to replace the seats on my kitchen chair, I don’t have a jigsaw, but I do have this Dewalt multi tool. Can it make the rounded cuts through the plywood? Or do I absolutely need the jigsaw?
The blades on the multi tool are very flexible which can hinder accuracy but if you cut wide and finish the edges with a sander then it could be done. But save yourself the work and effort, buy a jigsaw, they're cheap enough. And will be a lot quicker..
@@ChampionsOfTheTrade yeah I plan on getting a jigsaw, the issue is I live in the arctic and it will take a while before I can access one, I was hoping to fix these chairs pretty quickly lol.
@@Mackie17 yes, that is certainly an issue! I guess Amazon's next day delivery isn't an option out there?! 😆
@@ChampionsOfTheTrade Lol not next day no! They will deliver here though, it just takes a bit!
You can put 2 blades in, just have to put them in at the side. You have already commented the trap doesn’t open far enough, it does, I’ve done it several times.
Thanks. I'll have to give it another go, maybe I'll see if it'll open further by hand rather than via the trigger.
compared to makita brushless version, how does it compare? Is dewalt quicker to cut than Makita? How about the precision of cut?
That is a video in the making, I don't yet have the newer version of the DeWalt for a fair comparison... But it will happen.
Kit's on sale at $99 usd.. homedepot 12.19.23
Did you buy one?? If so, how are you getting on with it?
Yes sir I did... I used it to cut sheet rock at the baseboards.. I was mounting my Tv's n hiding wires
@@allday_everyday6310 good job 👍
Just ordered one. Haven't got a bloody clue what I'll do with it yet but always wondered how the hell you cut a square into a fixed piece of wood without taking the panel off. Also I wanted a small work sander so this seemed to fit the bill.
Fantastic, please let me know how you get on with it 👍
About to get a Dewalt. Would have been nice to know how it cut on oak. Pine is soft and can almost be cut with a butter knife. Thanks for the insights.
I get what you're saying. Thanks for watching 💪
All the reviews on this tool say can’t use all different blades. Yes u can that’s why the end comes of. You can’t use the quick contact on all blades but u can use them
Does this include Starlock if you can find an adapter?
Other than being cordless what does this do that an electric reciprocating couldn’t do if you had one?
Nothing, but in a mass market of battery tools, it proves that the problem isn't the with the tool, the problem is the cable.
Plunge cutting, minimal clearance trim cutting and several other tasks. A recip saw is more of a demo tool, an oscillating multi tool is more of a final fitment tool
Recip saw is really for demolition work, far to rough and the blades are too long, the oscillating multitool is for small precise cuts, Its ideal for cutting notches in timber where cables need to be recessed, like stud walls, and of course also ideal for taking complicated shapes out of plasterboard for fitment.. If your handy with one you can also do joinery with it.. Very versatile.. I used it just the other week to trim down a waste pipe that was too long for an elbow connector in a toilet, I ouldnt have been able to access the pipe with a hand saw or recip saw as the pipe was directly beside a wall..
Sam, just added this tool to my arsenal. Just a DIY guy, wondering: when I put the blade on, it does not sit absolutely straight with the tool. Slightly to the right or the left. Is that normal? If it is, is there a reason why it does? Some functional reason? Just curious. Wanted to make sure I didn’t have a defective tool. No, not asking about that: I’m asking about the Dewalt.
Hi Bill. I think it's a DeWalt thing, I've heard of several cases where users have commented about the same thing.. It could also be that, that is simply where the motor stopped. After you have used it, you may find that the blade position will change slightly simply because the motor stopped at 'that' point. Remember that the machine works by moving the blade from side to side at very high speeds.
I hope that helps?
You can't slide in the first blade and then the second?
No, not enough room
love mine.. 2 things a dont like about it though is the noise, its extremely loud on full chat.. and the vibration through the hand is annoying, It really is as if it resonates right around the point of full rpm, if I back of ever so slightly on the trigger it vanishes.. Very difficult to hold it there through...
There's a lot to be said for a switch and speed control dial. Makita's latest LXT version is much quieter and there is very little vibration. I'd like to compare it to the newer DeWalt multi tool, just need to get my hands on one.
put blades in one at a time?, put one in on star then second?
I tried that, didn't work. Maybe I have thicker blades?
If you'd tried to put the 2 blades in at 90 degrees to the body, they might have fitteed.
Unfortunately the clamp doesn't open far enough for 2 blades. Nice thought though.
He's right. 2 blades fit but at 90degrees@@ChampionsOfTheTrade
Remove battery before changing blade.
Good advice 👍
You can screw a second blade into the front with the bolt provided
What bolt? This multi tool uses a trigger/spring loaded catch for the blades. There is no bolt to remove.
@@ChampionsOfTheTrade I have the same multi tool mate , mine came with a bolt and washer that u can screw into the front of the trigger to use 2 blades at once 👌🏼
@@BD-sv8dj I'll have to look into that. I borrowed the tool for the video so it came as is. Thanks for the information 😃
Ive got the 12v version, DCS353. It’s smaller and lighter with the added benefit it cuts faster than the 18v version my mate has. Also the 12v version vibrates less than the 18v version.
Thank you, good to know.
Try putting one blade at a time you should be able to put 2 blades in
I tried that too, unfortunately it didn't work either.
Its the worst multitool on the market.
Use the dewalt, then pick up any other brand (m12 fuel is now my go-to). It vibrates worse then your wife's toy. It's actually terrible to use.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'll try and get my hands on a later model and compare them at some point. I've not tried the M12 yet, what is it about it that makes it your go-to?
@@ChampionsOfTheTrade It cuts faster then the Dewalt (I've owned every multiool from the big 3 btw lol) and in comparison, next to zero vibration and it's much quieter overall. I also really hate the trigger. Youd think it would be good until you need to hold it in awkward positions.
I find the M12 Fuel is the perfect balance of size and speed.
The non-fuel M12 is better for really fine cutting (good for cabinets or melamine type material) because it has a smaller stroke on the blade but it's also half the cutting speed because of that.
The makitas are nice to use vibration wise but they're too bulky. Same with the M18 models. Too big especially with a 5AH battery.
Wow, it sounds really good, thank you for all that information, it's great to hear your thoughts. I've not had much opportunity to use Milwaukee tools yet, but they are definitely on my wish list👍
