These living legends need to be treasured and shown as much as possible without them feeling like they are some sort of novelty these days or being exploited for the few that still know who they are. This was amazing to see and clearly the man still is very fit and very active and still someone you do not wanna mess with :)
I still think Don did not get the recognition he deserved with his unorthodox style what a legend and still in a super solid shape for his age. Great videos VS and thank you for the time and effort you put in them.
I think that's part of Don not liking VD his peers in that time sure they respected don maybe they did not really give him the credit he deserves because of his unique style.
@@bernardwilliams4071 I think it's also a case of how actual real professional fighters like Don, Benny Urquidez, Bill Wallace etc. Always get overlooked in favour of the martial arts movie stars and actors of that era, everybody praises folks like Bruce Lee, Steven Seagal, Van Damme who despite being martial artists, were mostly actors who did choreographed screen fighting meanwhile the real fighters like Don get unrecognized, despite having put their bodies on the line and pushed themselves to their physical limits to effectively prove the skills in full contact fights in the ring... Even Jackie Chan who isn't an actual martial artist, and who only learned Peking Opera martial arts for the stage and for film gets praised as being a Legendary fighter over someone like Don or Benny The Jet when Jackie had never ever studied at a martial arts school or done any sparring or ring fighting
@@cyborgchicken3502 True to a degree yeah he don't get recognize. He is in the shadow of Chuck Norris, Benny the jet, Bill superfoot. @@bernardwilliams4071 Don did some movies as well. I remember watching a few but I can't remember the names of them, there was one I think it was called Circle of fire or Ring of fire.
Don always impressed me with how slender a build he had compared to a lot of his opponents, yet he always prevailed and hit them hard. Him and Benny the Jet
This is a treat to see the legendary Don Wilson in action and I use to love watching his fights from him, Alexio, Maurice Smith and company back in the days when It use to be on ESPN ions ago. The Dragon can still move and throw those surprising sidekicks like a rifleman.
Watching takes me back to my days as a kung fu and kickboxing instructor. I loved martial arts. It was my whole life. Now I can no longer practise because I have a degenerative spinal xondition and spinal stenosis which required steel rods to be fixed to my spine and has left me with severe nerve damage in both legs. I'd give anything to be able to kick again. Now I can barely walk. I now live through movies and videos that take me back. It's still heartbreaking though.
This was pure wisdom...a slight sidekick to the gut is very effective. I like to do that as a kicking jab. The Bill Superfoot clip...was crazy precision control of the feet!
This was superb...Dons pin point sidekicks were spot on, even at his current age and looked effective in any situation, whether street or ring...Thanks Viking and Don...PS...The Viking has some nice, controlled kicks himself...🙂
The joy and respect you show to “The Dragon” is very heartwarming and I know you must be overjoyed to share these memories with the channel! Don’s face shines almost as much as yours and I see this has been the beginning of a true bromance. Thank you for giving us this piece of history brother! It’s been a awesome! 🇺🇸🙌🏻
Hey Viking Samurai it is so awesome to see training with Don The Dragon Wilson. As a boxer I have learned some kicking boxing skills. Viking Samurai you are the man, also I can tell Don The Dragon Wilson will talk to any body, Don is a good guy.
Love this - it was amazing to hear so much shared from Don ‘The Dragon’ - A great fighter, and great man. That side-kick is always fantastic - Thank you for sharing awesome content as always Viking Samurai ☀️🏯😎
It's amazing how since starting this RUclips channel you've now gotten to interact and meet many industry legends you'd most likely not have met had it not been for this channel
Very good interview on training with the Dragon Wilson is seen to maintain a high level and congratulations on achieving these interviews with this Viking Samurai legend ;)
This man is awesome, Don is a real legend. I was so fortunate enough to meet him, one of my most cherished moments, memories in life. Fighters today should take note from these true pioneers, OSU!!!🙏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😊
I remember a long time ago I saw him throw a side kick and it really opened my mind to the reality of is your strike as effective and proficient as you think. I also remember trying to mimicking it and failing to do so but you have to make it work against someone who does low leg kicks. My favorite is a step over sidekick cause there is no messing around with it and it helps close the distance if they are running
Words cannot express how jealous I am of you right now Viking! All jokes aside, this is awesome that you get to work out one-on-one with The Dragon! Congratulations brother!
Dude Friday nights, South Africa in the 90s after 10pm there would be the weekly martial arts movie- I would see Don 'The Dragon' Wilson in the credits and BOOM I was hooked!
68 years old and still got the moves ,this is huge evidence of how training & practice is good for us humans bcs. When you look at the people that dont practice at all in 40's they are like already given up on life and drunk or high or smoking etc. _ just saying. Thanks to the Viking Samurai for promoting good life stile., hope that your channel growes and become insanely famous in the whole world.
I am one who has never watched any of Don’s fights, except for his movies. I will have find some of his in ring competitions. It is awesome you two are training together. Hopefully, we will see some videos of Viking samurai teaching, in the future. That would be cool.
Excellent video, also excellent tutorial on the science of the sidekick, i enjoy the way [DON THE DRAGON WILSON] explains the nuances of the "technique" ☺ left a like on the video 👍
Legendary Martial Artist Bruce Lee used side kick alot and it was one of his powerful attacks GOAT. Viking Samurai I don't have words to describe how happy I am for you! Congrats on your achievement and keep up the great work. Loved the interview with Mohammed Qissi. Legendary Status 👌.
@scarred10 It's very effective when you get hit by a sidekick. Your leg is heavier and stronger then your arm, imagine your stomach getting kicked by a fighter who only weighs 80 kg. Bruce only weighed roughly 55 kg and still caused damage with a powerful side kick technique.
Viking Samurai, you need to have a million subscribers at this point! Hell, you need to be in movies! This was the episode that did it for me! Excellent!
yep those stories at the end of the vid, the best thing is we don't have to imagine them. just watch Don Wilson's fights and see for yourself what the real deal kung fu fighter is made of.
Don the Dragon Wilson is one of those fighter that utilizes sidekicks at its best, No doubt about it! When you talk about sidekicks you need to include him bcoz he is one of the best to utilize it..
Bro, you must have been so siked to learn that you were about to train with The Dragon. I'm siked for ya! I'm loving these videos. Thank you Don for being so cool and letting us come along.
CONGRATULATIONS! u are actually getting out there in the field doing interviews and demos. if you ever do anything with Van Damme. i will kneel 2 u sir.
It’s crazy the jump. It seems like everybody was young and then there’s this jump to old. I just saw Jeff speakman the other day. Even Arnold.. it’s crazy!
Don Wilson Is Amazing! My Favorite Kickboxer… I also Loved his movies…Dale Cook is my second. Wonder why they never had a match. You may know why. Don the dragon Wilson what a legend, great fighter, giving good tips out,he’s totally right nobody uses sidekick anymore apart from the odd karate guy,it’s a shame as my favourite kick and if perfected deadly and works great with punches in combos spinning backfist and spinning kicks, and very good as chasse bas savate the knee destroyer, don right to as I done Muay Thai and sport karate, when I used sidekicks Thai fighters didn’t have a clue how to deal with it or block it,but got to becareful as will get sweeped a lot lol,
That's pretty cool, man, I hadn't even considered kicks to the hip bone, and doesnt take much power to be effective, especially when digging in the heel
Great stuff! In addition to being an awesome kickboxer, Don Wilson is a really nice guy :) Re his side-kick - attacking the hip is a great idea! It would be very effective in self-defence too!
The side kick is one of my favorite kicks and one of the most powerful kicks in the Jeet Kune Do system. When you know how to deliver it, you can create a lot of damage.
Despite being 68 he still moves pretty good, and has one of the best sidekicks ever 😁👍
I thought hes 66?
Wow he is 68. Incredible don is still so agile and ready. Seagal needs to study this man
That's still astounding to me that he's 68. He's in better shape than most people half his age.
