Now he claims he can fight blindfolded, my guess he has been watching Kickboxer 2 where the main character has an incredible skill where he can dodge punches and even fight blind.

I think ,it was all BS & PR. I remember it. But as I recall nothing become of it. The guy was way younger than JCV, And he even had to go out of stat, cause of the age difference, it was supposedly illegal to fight.(or so was the rumors) Personally I think JCV would've gotten his ass handed to him,by the guy. This guy was in his Prime. JCV not so much. This guy was a pro MMA fighter or something (think) I Can honestly admit I don't remember all the details. I just remember JCV constantly appearing in post about it. Than suddenly it got quiet.
JCVD didn't even pass the pre-training physical eval, let alone pre-fight physical. The doc said if he even threw one real, full-force kick - then he'd shatter his hip and be crippled for the rest of his life. Apparently, spending your career over-stressing your hips showing off while slipping out of shape on an enormous drug-habit has a downside.

I was at the tournament in Barstow that Frank Dux is talking about where he did indeed spar challengers while blindfolded. I know it sounds absurd but I assure you I was there and it did happen. I was 5 or 6 years old it must have been 1990 or 1991. My dad remembers it much more well than I do of course. This was in the karate days of the 80s and 90s before mma really came on the scene in the US.
I love that Don brought up the mental condition of someone that thinks they are the best at literally everything. when I was in my mid 20's (not quite 2 decades ago) I worked as a security guard, and was working a shift with a new guy that was a couple of years younger than me. Because he was the new guy, our boss asked me to show him around and help him get familiar with the place. As often happens, we started casually chatting about our personal lives a little and since my Martial Arts background at that time was that I was a 3rd Dan black belt in Taekwondo, when he asked how I was defend myself if anything went wrong, I mentioned my background. At which point he claimed to have 10 black belts in "Kung fu". Now of course I didn't know anything about this guy, so I didn't call his bluff, but during the rest of our shift we kept talking and I mentioned that my previous job had been working at KFC. Well he claimed he was a master chef, (yes he actually used the words, "I'm a master chef."). Again, I didn't know anything about him, so I thought that maybe he was a good cook and might just be exaggerating. But by the end of the shift, not only was it obvious that he knew little to nothing about cooking, he also could not name any individual Martial Arts styles and only knew generic terms like "Kung Fu" and "Karate" but everything he had ever done (or claimed to have done) up to and including being a hair dresser, he was the best. lol

I was 5 or 6 years old it must have been 1990 or 1991. My dad remembers it much more well than I do of course. This was in the karate days of the 80s and 90s before mma really came on the scene in the US.
I love that Don brought up the mental condition of someone that thinks they are the best at literally everything. when I was in my mid 20's (not quite 2 decades ago) I worked as a security guard, and was working a shift with a new guy that was a couple of years younger than me. Because he was the new guy, our boss asked me to show him around and help him get familiar with the place. As often happens, we started casually chatting about our personal lives a little and since my Martial Arts background at that time was that I was a 3rd Dan black belt in Taekwondo, when he asked how I was defend myself if anything went wrong, I mentioned my background. At which point he claimed to have 10 black belts in "Kung fu". Now of course I didn't know anything about this guy, so I didn't call his bluff, but during the rest of our shift we kept talking and I mentioned that my previous job had been working at KFC. Well he claimed he was a master chef, (yes he actually used the words, "I'm a master chef."). Again, I didn't know anything about him, so I thought that maybe he was a good cook and might just be exaggerating. But by the end of the shift, not only was it obvious that he knew little to nothing about cooking, he also could not name any individual Martial Arts styles and only knew generic terms like "Kung Fu" and "Karate" but everything he had ever done (or claimed to have done) up to and including being a hair dresser, he was the best. lol

I vote for an exhibition tournament instead of one match. Perhaps Muay Thai with throws allowed, if not a version of MMA rules. Single or double elimination tournament, maybe over a few days or a week, or maybe two weekends.
