Every time I go in a blick art store I'm amazed by something. Glad to see their mechanical pencils hold up to high standards :D
I picked up a couple of these a few weeks back (0.5 and 0.7) and was blown away by what you get for the price. Double knocks are hard to come by nowadays, and to get one all metal at this price point is amazing. I agree with everything you said in this review as well. The clip is exactly the same as the one used on the Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth Mephisto, and the eraser is the same as on the Rotring 600. I can detect zero differences between these parts from those corresponding pencils. The body appears to be painted, which is one thing I would have wished was different, as it might wear down with use. At first I was disappointed with the knurling but found that with use it is great, especially because of the ring grooves near the bottom. It is comfortable and doesn't slip. The double knock requires a good amount of pressure to extend the tip, so it is harder to accidentally retract the tip when advancing the lead compared to most double knocks.
I hate super easy rotating grade indicators, so this one seems to have one I would like; as long as it won't rub the letters off over time. Thanks for covering a 0.7mm pencil as it doesn't get as much love as the 0.5mm. This one looks to be a good writer with its lighter knurling.
I really like the look of this, especially at such an affordable price. I’m going to pick it up in .5 if I can find one. Thanks for the heads up on this pencil.
Same impression: the only problem is the knurling. I'm a woodworker and this is now my EDC, in the pocket all the time pencil.
It's more durable than the graphgear, because it's simpler, and because the hole the pipe retracts into is smaller and doesn't get clogged with dust.
It's also better than the graphgear because the lead advance and retraction mechanism are both done with the same button.
I want them to make this in 0.9mm, and I'd pay a few more bucks for better knurling.
And yes, it's a bargain.
The consistency part is my favorite 😂
Very Nice! I have bought art supplies but never looked at mechanical pencils from Blick. I logged into their website and they have this in 0.5 and 0.7 for List price $16.99, current price $9.90 and if you want a bunch for some reason, Bulk price (12 or more) is $8.91 each. Just in case that info would be useful to anyone. Have an awesome day!
Will the price be available in retail store?
Thank you for review. you are the best!
The wobble can be eliminated by applying thin clear tape on the lead pipe. Would be good to know how many grams the pencil weighs.
Made a point to hit up Blick in San Diego while I was visiting friends after watching this video and picked up one. It's now on my top 3 pencils and I bought 3 more to have on hand. Absolutely fantastic pencil. Solid construction, weight, comfortability.
Do they have it at sale there?
How much was it when you get it ?
@@restalittlebit I think it was on sale for around $11
One feature I didn’t hear you mention is the lead tip cushioning spring. It takes a lot of force to engage the spring but it worked fine. The grip will take some time to get used to
Time stamp for loading new lead please?
How does this compare to the Retro 51 slim pencil?
Great review for me this beats the graphgear 1000
What does the tip HB, B, 2B, 4H etc etc mean?
Softness or hardness of the led
Is the knurling better better than a punch in the face? Probably. 😂😂
Coming from someone who also enjoys a strong knurling like the rotring 600 this kills me
this just showed up in my recommended so i have no idea who you are and what you do but cool video i guess
