- Some news about new folks added to the Project L Development team dropped last night, including some long-time Fighting Game veterans - courtesy of Riot Games very own PatTheFlip. Some great people were added, plus I wanted to take a few minutes to discuss the whole team and my general opinions. Let me know what you all think!
Go give Pat and the new Dev crew some love!

Just a quick one today - but I wanted to get it out there that some great people were added to an already stacked roster of folks making this game happen. LMK what you guys are feeling, and thanks as always.
Bruiser do you believe that we'll have any news regarding an closed or open beta for the game at Evo ?
@@JohnVantai I would be beyond hyped if so but it's really hard telling.... I do think there is a lot more done than they have shown and they are keeping the cards pretty close to their chest. But in terms of the next announcement I do think it will be a bigger one , fingers crossed that we get lucky and it's finally time to talk game name and when it's going to be playable.
@@BruiserMinion I fully agree to be honest with you. It will breath new life for news regarding the game. Maybe they follow the Beta Test path like SF, Tekken and MK. Have like 6-8 picks for the public to try out and start giving feedback in the game. I'll even take an open presentation at EVO like 2-3 matches on Livestream and them the people attending it can try it.
honestly my biggest wish for this game is pre game dialogue, like injustice or mk, just to have some more interactions between characters like there is in league.
For sure, as you said a lot of the character interactions in LoL are super cool already! It would fit very well here too. I really wonder what kind of single-player or story-related modes this game might have as well
Excited to see they are already working on balancing! Thanks for update!
They are definitely some great ppl to have on board and explode the game!
I hope we see a big ass Riot logo as the last announcement at Evo 2023. I don't even need to play it yet, I just want to see more champions, the ui, the mechanics, endless amounts of CCs reacting to [Insert cool league character here] in Project L... I donno man, this game is gonna be huge and I can't wait to see it take off in the following months
Yea I think it's time for a name, a few more characters, and more of the system mechanics. I'm really hoping this next update is a huge blowout of info.... but maybe I should temper my expectations a bit. haha
@@BruiserMinion honestly, after almost half a year with no news whatsoever, not saying anything at EVO would be even rude, considering how they're doing this many things in the shadows while not telling anything about it xd
Man I love these videos, I 100% expect you to grow MASSIVELY once Project L comes out, keep up the high quality, informative videos :)
Well thanks for that and the support boss, it's very much appreciated!
W update!!! Your vids are great to see and always high quality
Thanks boss!
I have erased this game from my mind only because it is a little bit frustrating waiting for the release, but it is going to be a blast when the time finally comes.
Good strategy to be honest, I need to stop counting the days until another announcement. lol
@@BruiserMinion❤
Fighting game enjoyers are eating good this and next year. Plenty of filler games to help you wait for this particular game.
@@Larzech For sure. SF, MK1 and Tekken 8 - it truly is about to be a golden age for fighting games!
Yoooo ive seen you commenting on twitter about how stacked it's been getting. Looking good frfr
Yea man it's a really solid team, but tbh I think they have almost definitely worked with alot of ppl who don't know of yet and much more going on behind the curtain. Should be a real Dev update sometime soon though!
@@BruiserMinion I'm honestly glad they are keeping it behind closed doors, makes it so that when it is ready it will be a exciting reveal
Knowing Clockw0rk and Marlinpie working in PL as big Marvel heads already made me happy. Now Apologyman and Nerdjosh (yohosie to some extent) now join too?
My long time wish of a Marvel esque game with League IP is already happening. The can’t wait what they’re cooking.
Agreed man, a lot of big name tag vets on board gives me hope this will be another huge time for Tag games - and Fight games as a whole seem to be very much approaching a new golden era. I cant wait!
My bets are on us getting something new around evo. Most likely before it like last time
Indeed, I'm hoping the same! I personally think I'd actually prefer that than during EVO strangely.
ur alive?!?!?!?
are u ever gonna new more roster idea videos?
I am! and I do want to, life and honestly Street Fighter 6 now are getting a bit in the way. lol Hopefully get a new character vid out AND we get actual news soon!
my buddys friend works at riot told us to sit back and enjoy the good news at evo.
I do expect an update around or during EVO for sure, hope it's a big one!
Man i really hope this game becomes big
I think it will be for sure as far as fighting games go. My main hope is that coupled with Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, and Tekken 8, these games start to really grow the scene as a whole and make Fighting games big again! Only time will tell but I think the future looks very bright for the genre
Thanks bruiser minion
Thank you, Mitch.
Is it gonna have requirements like Valorant or League of Legends because i wanna play this game forever
They really haven't gotten much into details yet, we really don't know much about the game as a whole. But I will say I think it's a safe assumption it will follow in a lot of LoL and Valorants footsteps on how they approach things like Skins, Progression systems and Ranked stuff
bro the game should be out by now its been almost 4 years.... and 7 moths without any news about the game...
I think we are getting to the end game now, but who knows they have been quite tight-lipped again lately. BUT Valorant also went from just announced - to full release in like 8 months so it's really hard to tell where they are actually at with this game. Likely new Dev vid around EVO again so guess will tell my dude
@@BruiserMinion I hope we can play the game sooner .. at least the end of 2023 or early 2024..
It's not been 5 years, where did you ever get that number? If you want to count from the first announcement about the game, then it's been 3,5-4 years, but if we count from when development of the game actually started, it's been more than 7 years.
@@AppleBaron Damn 7? That is longer that I realized tbh, I would probably had said 5 too. But yea your right Riot bought Radiant in 2016... man I can't even keep track of the time anymore. lol
@@AppleBaron First time seeing the game in 2019 at riot 10 Year Anniversary Celebration yeah its almost 4 years now.
It has been interesting to notice a massive decrease in interest for Project L from the League Community with every Dev-Update & News about the game while it increases with the Fighting Game Community.
I personally believe this game is still gonna be a huge success but without the insane player traffic from League Players we initially thought it would receive, I genuinely think they feel intimidated by the Project now.
I do think with Street Fighter having just dropped it would be a great time to reignite some Project L hype soon though! Seems like a lot of people are more interested in the fighting game genre as a whole lately, and having a big blowout news event would be a great way to get this game back in the same conversation as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken 8 all of which seem to have big attention and high hopes around them. BUT the other thing is PL stands out as free-to-play, so I think a lot of the LoL crowd would still try it even just to see their characters and setting in a new risk-free game
@@BruiserMinion I believe it's gonna be a bit harder for Project L to get into the conversation with (SF, Tekken & MK) because Tag-Fighters are intimidating and generally turn people off on the Casual, Veteren & Pro side of things, so personally think League Players will try it but not a (Lot) anymore in comparison to when it was announced especially with how Hype they are with the MMO.
I agree and I genuinely think everything is gonna depend on the (Champion) Roster because a majority of casual League Players are one-tricks who gravitate towards their favorite champions which is why you see spikes in Legends of Runeterra when one makes a debut, they download the game and try it out.
@@OmenLamb For sure! Honestly, I used to be pretty strictly 1v1 in terms of the fighting games I would get really into as well until DBFZ's later years. I played MVC2 and 3 a fair amount when I was young but your right tag games have a reputation of being even more intimidating for new folks. I think that is another really interesting part of MK1 going the assist but NOT tag game route - I think they are doing exactly what your saying where they dont want to turn people off because they have to learn several characters just to play at a moderate level.
@@BruiserMinion Side question I've been watching you "Riot, put (champion) into Project L - series" and I was wondering.
Do you think (Kayle) would make a great addition to Project L to fulfill the (Install / Transformation) Archetype of Fighter with insane burst damage when requirements are met kinda like:
- Guilty Gear: Sol Badguy (Dragon Install)
- MVC: Vergil (Devil Trigger)
- FighterZ: Frienza (Golden Form)
- Tekken: Kazuya (Devil Form)
Or do you think she would serve better as a (Zoner / Turtle) Archetype fighter summoning swords and pressuring you across the screen.
But I think there are Mages & Marksmen who can fill this role over Kayle, which is why (Install / Transformation) sounds like something she could add to the game but what do you think? or Kayle not fighting game material.
And I'm hopefull Project L will make the Tag system more assist based over being bombarded like in UMVC3 and I was on the same boat strickly 1v1 until DBFZ when Z-Broly DLC was announced.
Thanks.
@@OmenLamb I think she could, sure! In my mind a huge core of her style/ kit is the whole Resurrection style Ultimate - which to me sounds very similar to Pheonix style stuff from Marvel Vs Capcom. Im not a huge fan of that hype carry style character though, so maybe she would need to be moved more into that Install Style character instead like you said.
What does he mean by Broken (Good)?
A lot of people like doing really wicked and stylish things in fighting games - Think like big combos, or crazy fast movement type stuff, but usually in a way where those things are really hard to do so you have to earn in to be able to do it
@@BruiserMinion So like Wavedashing in Marvel? Its strong in neutral but requires skill to do.
@@Xraellium Yea exactly! I think that's a perfect example because it also probably wasn't intended to be there by Capcom either, but it was broken in a good way so they kept it in and now it's a staple in the genre.
Project L drought in full effect
I mean yea true, I'll take anything we can get - but I also I imagine the next big update will be soon at this point!
@@BruiserMinion it'll be a week before evo surely :)
@@myerhq8307 That's my hope too brother! Im betting the Monday before EVO again.
With the release of Street Fighter 6 plus the reveal of Tekken 8 and MK 1 and hopefully Riot can release more gameplay footage of Project L soon, then what a time to be a fighting game fan!
Yea exactly! Fighting games are popping off right now, I would love to see a big Project L update around EVO to get their name right back up there with SF, MK and T8
Apologyman???? Damn they going all out
For real, I love to see it though!
This is what I was afraid of they starting bring in pro players and FGC content creator to the game team i dont know but this is bad ..
Oh? I personally like this approach a lot, but I also realize the actual FGC is kind of the minority compared to the hundreds of thousands of ppl who will at least try this game. Why do you feel it'll be bad?
@@BruiserMinionhe's afraid that the game will only be balanced around proplays since the dev team are might having biased view around it bcos they're FGC vets
@@firasabdullah7741 Yea I could understand that, and have heard a bit of that argument before. That does make sense, but I think league goes but a similar philosophy of Listening to pros and take feedback if there is a glaring issue or something, but the reality of it is that 99 percent of the player base is not nearly at the level and the game has to function more for them than it does the outliers
@@firasabdullah7741 exactly
@@BruiserMinion I'm afraid they'll make the game fit only what pro players think ..I know they said the game is for everyone but I'm worried Because there is a difference between fighting game developers and player another thing they should have left the game to be a unique experience for all players. This is just my humble opinion
Naw take your time Riot I much rather wait for a clean, polished, sexy finished product than a rushed out buggy mess
This is true, agreed. I think they have made it pretty clear that is the approach for this game with the slow drip of info and seems to have been in development for quite some time now already
