Running an excavator is part of what I do for a living. Most of the time I’m in a supervisor position but when it comes to digging up our mains I tag in to play. Still feel like a big kid every time I get in one. A long reach is really fun.

Yes, “exposed“ is probably the correct term. It’s still pretty weird to walk out the door and see the neighbors house so clear, without any obstructions. I’m sure I will get used to it though.

This has been a tough year for trees. I've lost 7... several of which were over 100 years old. 😢
Could be hypoxilon canker. Look it up. It’s devastating oak trees in the south.
@BIGALTX Actually, it was storms. I live in East Tx as well, and we had 2 storms with straight line winds in June followed by Beryl. During the first storm, I lost 4 trees and didn't have power for 5 days.
I would have thought you would have kept some of the wood for the fireplace.

my comment belongs in your earthbox vids, but I hope it has a better chance at a reply here. I use a different type of sub-irrigated containers(rain gutter grow system) but the problem should be the same. I am sure you know how $ potting mix is, so reuse is key. You stopped using lids and mulch instead. I got grubs in my containers this year and not sure what to do. Replacing all the potting mix is not a option. My question is maybe the lids on your earth boxes in the past stopped june bugs from laying eggs in your earthboxes ? Have you seen a rise in grubs since going topless ? What will you do if you start getting grubs ?
No, I haven’t noticed any grubs. You could always sift the potting mix and reuse it if you think there are grubs in it. Some 1/4” hardware cloth would probably be good for sifting.

@@BIGALTX I wouldn't put too much effort into it, they've been roughshod over my account/posts .. I may get a couple post in the early morn, but after 7am they're actively deleting everything. sigh
