Survive a heatwave in the forrest is the best thing one can do. 👍The ponies in the New Forrest have got a splendid life, very appropiate for that species. I love to see that! Have a nice weekend and thank you for taking us with you, Gabriela 👋🌝
Hi Gabriela. Thanks for watching ❤️. Hope you’re having a good week. Those ponies do live in a beautiful place don’t they? . So pleased they let us share it with them for a while. Take care ❤️😊👍
Looks a nice site & the village was so cute 😎 Lovely to have met up with family too! Aww the deer 🦌 so beautiful aren’t they. Loved the ponies and foal on the bike ride, what a joy 😁 We’re quite lucky, we don’t have any lithium or power stations, just a small solar panel on the roof. & a large battery. We seem to manage fine for a good few days even in winter, but we do have a compressor fridge. We are looking into one of those suitcase solar panels though 😎 Could make a difference for you with Ellies medications. Thanks for sharing, Em 💜
Our electric is normally fine. We did 16 days in a row off grid on the outer Hebrides in the winter. Yes the New Forest is lovely. So much wildlife and birds. It really is a joy to see. Thanks for your comment and watching. 🧙♂️🚐🐶🐶🐶
Your New Forest camp site looked lovely with all the walking trails and places to cycle too. And of course a local pub!! 😊Amazing how vocal the birds were. Really enjoyed - very relaxing 😊❤
Love the New Forest. That site seemed reasonably priced. The big dilemma of seeking shade but needing solar power, we feel your pain. Those deer seemed very friendly, how lovely to see them so close to your van 😀❤️
Hi Rachael. We didn’t want to leave! We were just getting started…I love places where you can just step outside and go for miles and miles of beautiful wooded walks. Cuddles duly delivered to the doggies 🐶🐶🐶❤️. Thanks for watching and commenting ❤️😊👍
Loved the tranquility of the site. Everyone (furdos too) looking good and chilling together. Doggies really looked so zen (in my opinion) ha ha…. I really enjoyed watching and thank you for including us on your trips!
Hi Sophia. It really was just what we needed in the heat. The girls loved the forest. Chasing squirrels and rabbits was the order of the day😉. Thanks so much for watching and commenting ❤️😊👍
Looks a lovely site and area - good point on the solar under the shade of the trees. We got down to 36% over the weekend on the battery - think that’s the lowest we’ve been when away. Plenty of sun but using energy to keep cool. You thought about putting another solar controller and just plugging the solar panel into that in the van - massively more efficient ⚡️I’m thinking of doing that. Lovely to see the 🦌 and other wildlife. All the very best, David & Rachel ❤
In fact I do have another spare controller. So I could do that quite easily. However I’m thinking it would need to be a long way from the van to get solar that the van can’t. Not to sure how often would use it. Would need a long cable. It’s also unusual for us to stay in one place. So it’s a good thought but doubt I will do it when it comes to it. Thanks for the thought though. Hope you are both well and enjoying your travels. Take care 🐶🐶🐶🥰🧙♂️👍
Lovely site. We must get there it looks wonderful. We’ve seen a couple of other vids on Setthorns but it looked more crowded and not as spacious. Wouldn’t have thought about the trees and no solar! We have that adaptor and we plan to use that off grid using an Ecoflow 🤞🤞🤞😬 How brilliant that wildlife is - amazing to hear a Nightjar!!! The New Forest really is a special place! Enjoyed 👍👍 Safe travels Graham and Ellie
Hi both. Thanks for watching and your kind comments ❤️. Think It really is your sort of place. We could have run the engine for a bit to charge the batteries, but that really would have been a last resort. It’s always good to know these limitations for future trips. We now know we can just about do 4 days with no solar, driving or hookup. It’s the fridge that gobbles the power unfortunately. You would love all the animals. Take care and safe travels ❤️😊👍
We love Setthorns and the weird thing is, I was just Googling it and then your video came up when I went on RUclips lol. We were by the Horseshoe when we first went, then went at the bottom next to the old railway line the last time we were there. We love it there, it really is a proper "relax and not do much" type of site, just have a walk and sit and wait for the ponies and deer to pass through. We've also had the "no power" situation, parked in the shade for a few days in a heatwave. It's good to be cool, but as you say, the solar doesn't work.
That’s spooky! Sounds like you are probably being given a subliminal sign to go back and visit ❤️😉so lovely. As you say, It is the sort of place that just makes you relax. Woolfy would love it wouldn’t he? Take care ❤️👍😊
Love the new forest - a wonderful and relaxing place. I know where there a good lightweight trailer that would be perfect for Ellies trike 😉. As always thanks for sharing your vlog 👍
What a great site where you can find your own little spot …. Reasonable price and when in a heatwave you can escape the heat but then again you want the solar at times …. Like you we sometimes on extended stays may turn the motor over
Apart from the battery anxiety that looked like a very relaxing break away. I feel quite chilled after watching that and we are currently on a not so peaceful campsite in the Netherlands, so thank you🙂x
Another amazing vlog guys! The New Forrest is incredible although it's been a while since we last visited. The Nightjar was incredible. The last time we heard one was in an evening visit to Arne. Bad news about the power. Pleased that you survived albeit on 18%. The bedroom nude shots are a little racy😂. Stay safe guys. Sid and Nicola, Rugby
Thanks guys. So pleased you enjoyed the video. Yes we love the New Forrest. Funny thing with the Nightjar, when I first heard it I thought it was someone running a generator 🤣. Hope you are both keeping well. Travel far and stay safe. 🐶🐶🐶🧙♂️🚐👍
A friend ours (ex-Navy) tried to recharge his batteries from solar via an inverter and Charger. He would not take no for an answer. Lovely site and what a price.
Not the best way of doing it. Even the portable solar was difficult to get in the forest. We did enjoy it though. Price was half reasonable as well. Bonus. 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️👍
Thanks Sonia! So pleased you enjoyed the vlog ( twice😉) There are so many beautiful walks you can do there. We will definitely go back to explore some more. Thanks for watching ❤️😊👍
Yep it was 28c I think it got up to. Was only a problem when we were walking around. In the forests it was quite cool. Thanks for your comment. Stay safe and cool. 🧙♂️🚐🐶🐶🐶
Hello there 👋 Good to see you again guys. I was taken I'll on my annual Europe trip. I was in hospital in Austria for 8 week before being flown home. I had suffered from a lung infection (sepsis) and kidney failure, in a coma for 4 weeks. But I'm home now, had to learn to walk again, but now I use just a stick. Kermit is being transported home in the next few days. All very scary for a solo traveller. This highlights the importance of having good travel insurance. After watching this episode of yours I think the New Forest will be a wonderful place for me and Kermit to restart our adventures. Cheers guys 👍 🐸 PS I'm going to spend time evening playing catch up with all your episodes I've missed.
Hi Simon Oh my goodness! We were both so sorry to hear about what has happened to you! Thank God there’s a happy ending ❤️🙏 What you’ve been through is unbelievable, and to go through it all on your own too. Hope you are coping with what has happened ok. Make sure you give yourself lots of time and rest ( apart from all the physical issues you had, being put in a coma can sometimes take a while to process can’t it?- I was put in a coma for a few weeks. It’s the strangest thing ) I bet you will be pleased to get Kermit back home. Even if you just take him out for the day or maybe a site or a pub stop over when you are ready… Hugely relieved that you got the help you needed even though you travelled alone❤️. Your story is very sobering. We can’t take anything for granted can we? We had wondered why we hadn’t heard from you in a while. Let us know how it’s going and do take care won’t you. So lovely to hear from you. ❤️🙏😊

Nightjars! Alan’s favourite bird! He hasn’t seen or heard one in donkey’s years! I can see we might be heading to the New Forest next spring. 😊
Funny thing is were we are right now C&CC Minehead also been hearing them here each late evening. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🚐🧙♂️🙏
