Lol knowledge can be frightening. I, too, know quite a bit about not just the ocean and sealife, but animals in general. I choose not to look at them as scary or horrible creatures though. What they do is necessary for their survival and they have evolved to do it. What they do is dictated by their instincts and need for self preservation. While many things about the natural world are scary, I respect them and I think even the most vicious animal is beautiful in its own way. I'm very concerned about what we are doing to the ocean, and thus game acts as a perfect metaphor for that. It shows what I perceive to be a civilizations effects on the natural world, and then shows a member of such civilization saving and rejuvenating the ocean life. I can only hope I can help save the beautiful ocean and all the life in it.
These little buggers at the end, crawling on the ocean floor are indeed still alive. They're called horseshoe crabs, and yes, I think it's common to mistake them for being extinct. Kind of look the part, in my opinion, as they have been around for a very long time without a significant change in appearance.
omg thank you so much Ballard. I've been through a few abzu let's plays looking for one that doesn't have a ridiculous annoying commentary and was so glad to see you've done one. I watch your other vids great work mate
Just to show how cringy I am I gotta correct you on something. Star fish don't do that stomach thing. What you're probably talking about is coral. There are some corals that literally devour other corals that get too close and as a result take away their sun and growing room.

I wanted to coment the same thing!
Remember when you rode the Goliath Grouper at the beginning of the game? You can do that with any fish that's bigger than you.
I love how excited you get every time you find columnar jointing in a game. :D
Great video, by the way. :)
I love this game. So gorgeous, I listen to the soundtrack all the time too. Just so pretty and relaxing.
The most informative playthrough of Abzu ever. This guy knows his stuff and takes this seriously .3.
Just so you know, Abzu is the origin of the word Abyss

"it's a swarm" Uh-Oh, you triggered me Keith!
prepare for this fucking PRETTY game.
20:48 OMG IT'S THE SEA ANUS!!!
Don't quote me on it but I'm pretty sure those shells you're picking up are being sent to that wall with the drawings on it.
Yup. It became incredibly obvious the moment I finished the game, but not a moment sooner.
They also appear at the top of the cosmic hub place too, as actual living nautaluses (sic).
At 2:49 the music remind me a lot of Tomb Raider 1 :)
ABZÛ huh that sounds cool
:( Now I need more of this.
Huh. When I first went in to dark area, something different happened...
Just the art designer of journey.
In reality, there are actually - very rarely - "lakes" on the bottom of the ocean, which are made of substances heavier than water.
Might wanna take a closer look at the wall with the paintings at 25:50 - if you ever encounter it again.
Why Am I Still Awake?
rather then water underwater lets call it a different liquid mass underwater.
have you played a 2d rpg called aquaria? This is what I thought the 3d version would be like visually :)
i love your videos💓
If you hate the ocean play subnautica

A very quick search brings up a ton of results about how starfish do in fact eject their stomach.
@@KeithBallardA I stand corrected
So close
I've been waiting to see someone play this, hopefully it isn't crap because of 505 games... yeah I said it...
Well... after watching this, looks really boring. It is literally just exploring without consequence. Should just be a 360 video :\
Guess you weren't a fan of Journey or Flower?
Not everything has to be epic battles or action. This game is just to relax and enjoy the ocean, even if the real one is pretty scary.
first👍
