Social Security is based on your highest 35 years of earnings. Government pensions are based on your highest 3 years and typically dwarfs what anyone on Social Security can get, and government retiree's get to retire many years earlier than someone who has to wait until they are 67 years old to get unreduced Social Security. So, they start out getting years of retirement benefits regular people never see. Government retiree's continue to receive medical benefits which are their primary coverage and is paid for by the government for the rest of their lives while everyone else has to depend on Medicare and has to pay much more for it. I would be more than happy to pay any difference between what my employer and I paid into Social Security and what a government employee paid into their plan to receive the pension and medical benefits government employees get.

It is a possibility, only if you have a combined income above $25,000 for the year. This includes filing joint with somebody. If the total income for the year is below that then there is no tax on Social Security at all. Majority of Social Security recipients already do not pay taxes on their payments. Something like that is more likely if they are married, and only 1 of them is even old enough to get Social Security while the other keeps working.
But anyway, why does it even need to be taxed? Just removed the Social Security income cap, set at $176,100 in 2025 (Earning above this amount will not have money deducted for Social Security tax. The more you earn the more you pay in, up to that cap). Remove the cap and watch the magic happen.

look up Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.
Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.
A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second to take from four days to four years to complete.
Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- to 6 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.
In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.
This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical
      morass.

Hell, I tried for years to get federal jobs until I found out what the game was. My local VA I found out only hires Democrats. Now wonder my in laws made big money. Both were Democrats, father in law retired a GS 15 and mother in law got here job at the VA because her dad worked there, thats nepotism which I thought was outlawed. Mother in law pulled a good one, she was supposed to retire as a GS 4 but, she rewrote her job description right before retirement and got bumped to a GS 8, now that a crock of shit in my book. Give her credit for being crafty, she also worked the Director of the VA who was her conspirator. The young lady who replaced my mother in law was NOT hired in as a GS 8 but, a GS 4, something I bet was a little illegal about that but, it helped that my mother in law worked for the Director of this VA. Mother in law gripes that she that she does not get SS. I told her she didn't even pay into it till 1983 and she retired in the 80's. She just does not get it. Her and the father in law retired and are debt free. Talk about greedy.

My Mom & Dad went bankrupt after my Dad had a heart attack with no insurance and he didn't qualify for Medicare yet. My Mom contracted lung cancer and died before any Social Security was paid to her. They both worked during their entire adult lives. Social Security was never paid to her and my Dad received his for little more than ten years. They would have done better with an investment plan. Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme. The first woman to receive social security never gave into the system at all. Many more citizens collected SS without working outside the home and therefore did not pay any payroll taxes. 😢 We can do better!!

If you don't pay tax on it, they have less money to pay out. And then throw on top of it you want to boot all illegal immigrants out of the country that PAY Social Security Taxes and never benefit from it, further reducing the amount of money we have for Social Security recipients. Good job. Let's vote to do everything in our power to destroy social security and then request more from it. smh

There’s tons of money put into SSI that isn’t claimed. People die before they can draw their SSI. People work regular jobs for 10 plus years paying into SSI and then decide to change careers and start working for the school district. When you retire as a teacher you have to pick your teachers retirement or your SSI, you can’t double dip anymore. Where did that money go? Then you have the people who are programmed to be in generational poverty. They’re taught how to work the system. They never work a day of their lives and collect SSI. The government needs to make law stating you have five years to learn a trade and after five years your SSI expires. The government can build vocational training programs for these types of people to attend. If they do not attend they lose their benefits immediately.

I will say, I wanted Dems to win the election to at least gum up the works, but now that Republicans have all 3 branches of government, retirees are about to have a nasty wake up call when they 'fix' social security. It is a tax, it is an entitlement that the working class pays knowing that they will never be able to retire and the fix that people want is... raise contributions and the retirement age (again, we need 50% of you to die to make it viable). No. Lower payouts to match what is coming in. The treasure notes purchased by the social security fund are national debt and should not count towards pay outs. Social security has become a sad, sick joke on the American public-----those who paid into the system. If Social Security didn't have so many people on it who never paid in a dime, get disability yet work under the table, and more hanky panky problems, then maybe it might be solvent. The people pulling the wagon are getting fewer and fewer while the number of people benefitting from social security keep growing, far outpacing the workers' ability to keep footing the huge bills.

REMOVE THE MAX INCOME LEVEL ($168,600) OF THE FICA TAX. If you make income over and above $168,600 per year there's no reason why you should stop paying into the Social Security system.

This is terrible. The working people paid for their retirement into social security is unacceptable to now go to others. The money that the government took from ss needs to be put back. The American worker should also get interest that accumulated thru the years as well and get an increase due to inflation not a measly raise. Time to work on behalf of the American people.

Plain and simple many of us whether teacher, firefighter, or clerk in a government agency paid into the SSI fund with all the other jobs we worked at before and while working for the government. All we want is the monies we paid in to be distributed back to us on a monthly basis. I and many others see our SSI monthly benefit reduced by 66% and to me that is simply legalized thievery! I along with so many others simply want all the money we paid in as promised over the years. I worked and so did many others at government jobs that did not match private industry wages who need that money to pay bills, food, and insurance! Stop the thievery and eliminate WEP and GPO deductions for retired seniors!

People only pay into social security for the first 160k after that they pay nothing into it, so the burden of paying in isn’t shared equally I make under 160k so every dollar I make is taxed for social security, yet a billionaire is only taxed up to 160k, if they raised that maximum social security could be fully funded overnight.

Apparently you don't realize those that pay in the most get the least back from SS as a percentage of their contributions. Those on the bottom end get far more than they contribute. But yet as long as you can tax higher income individuals to fund your existence then its ok. Sounds like socialism to me. IMO full retirement should be a privilege not a right. In the past that is the way it used to be. SS is like a big ponzi scheme. It depended on large base of contributors vs collectors and slow population growth broke the formula..
