So glad that the series has returned.
💯
Fr fr !! 😎
Premo should release that instrumental that he did for Black Eyed Peas - My Style (DJ Premier Remix)
Likewise
Thought it was over. Guess it was just a long hiatus. Dude has so much heat he can do this for like 5 more seasons 😂
Thank you Premier!!!
You’ve been a guiding force for me way before I met you…Gangstarr was and still is a major influence to me…your production inspired me to produce…and it was an honor to have met you and have you see us and appreciate our passion from day one when we went on our first tour…your hospitality on tour and showing us love and encouraging us gave us the drive we needed…thank you!!! For LIFE!!!
Yeah it's too bad you sold out to become commercial bubble gum pop artists.. When Behind the Front came out I was like damn these guys are going to be hot for years...I championed your album to all my boys.. Not hating enjoy your fame and glory.. Just giving my 2 cents.
Ha ha ha…
Thanks for your 2cents…
Our decisions and choices is why my foundation serves more than 14 thousand students with higher education…our choices to make the music we made and make and envisioned ourselves from our heart and our brain is the work “we love”…
Question:
Since you’re free to give 2cents, please give 2 hrs of time and mentor my kids at my school on decisions and sacrifices and love and compassion and following your heart “regardless of opinions” and drive to contribute opportunities for those who have been left behind…
A sellout to me is when you actually harm or poison the lives of the community you come from…and progress is what you actually do for the community with your success…and our success goes back to the community…
Opinions don’t do anything for people in need…
BEP IS about Progress no regrets…
All love and passion and respect…
Let me know if you wanna drop by my school in Boyle Heights…
I’m from the projects and steady changing my hood with my creative projects
BOOM!!
Sell out
Ha ha ha
More like:
Selling out stadiums
@@edwardmowton9825 youre goofy
@djimpact420 what a great response baldy... if you don't think BEP sold out I bet you're one of those open format DJs that just does it for the money. You probably know nothing about real hiphop either.
BEP 1 of my favorite groups. Each album 💿 has its on vibe, theme , genre /style.
Still listening to their current albums today.
Excited to hear Will.i.am’s New Solo Album 💿
Dj Premier is literally the greatest hip hop producer of all time. It can’t be denied.
Facts
No doubt. Shoutout to Pete Rock & Daz Dillinger, that's my Top 3.
That’s a fact jack
nope DJ Mustard is
Mf said a condoment 😂😂😂@@scienz
RIP GURU 🙏 DJ Premier for president
Non Phixion - Rock Stars 💥
a combo with rock stars/drug music. two birds one stone
Always. Everybody else caught up with them with said single
Primo STAYED giving a A WHOLE RANGE of artists that raw. 🔥🔥
The only song I listened to by the black eyed peas the beat is 🔥🔥
@dwharton8983 Oh don't sleep on Will and the Peas. Their first album Behind The Front was DOPE. Joints and Jams, etc. Also Will has a solo joint with BBE Records that's worth checking... the same British label that has him in a series with Pete Rock, Dilla, Jazzy Jeff, Marley Marl, and a few others.
@@dwharton8983 First two albums are fking classics!
this track was my jam back in high school. and shoutout for shouting out ESTHERO. her album "breath from another" didn't get the love it deserved.
Big facts
Esthero is DOPE AF!
So true!
I saw her live late 90s @ Kashmir in Quebec City. Classic trip hop sound, great vibe.
That Esthero album is one of the best trip hop albums ever. Amazing
I’m still salty on how the BEP sold their souls to the industry sharks. Their first two projects + The Atban Klann project were incredible. This was one of my favorite joints.
Yup. The Fergie era was nails on chalkboard music.
@@CarlosHernandez-rl2wgsurpassed by their reggaeton era, which is even worse than the fergie era
I can watch DJ Premier talk for hours and putting a smile on my face every SW video.
If we could only get an episode for Group Home ‘ Suspended in Time’
That’s would be dope
Classic Black eyed Peas!!!! The “Bridging the Gaps” Album was 🔥🔥🔥 that was my sophomore year in college and it was nonstop Awesome hiphop albums pumping throughout. I hope we get a Masters of the Sun Vol.2 with a couple of Dj Premier tracks.
We need a video of pitch black. Its all real😊
Second BEP Album is still one of my favorites. First class Hip Hop music. De La Soul, Mos Def, Wyclef and Chali 2na were featured on that record.
That Czarface cap is DOPE! ❤
Yes sir I noticed. Czar the best hip hop of the last 10
This is why this guy is my favo producer ever! He can world with anyone and still keep it premier 🔥
Dope video. I certainly remember pre-Fergie BEP. Ngl I found their evolution a bit jarring 😅 but I’ve always enjoyed their music, and as you said, their evolution was very much authentic to who they were. Also, the music video for BEP Empire is crazy! I’d never seen it before! 😆 THREE, FOUR!
Word, first two BEP albums are still fire.
Me too. First song i heard from them is joints and jams. That was definitely pre fergie, probably by a few years
I loved esthero she had a unique flavour on her albums
I recognize all the people in the credits because of the JBP! 💪🏾
BEP used to be on some real Hip-Hop sh!t. I was even surprised to hear that they were once signed to Ruthless Records!
The Black Eyed Peas weren’t signed to Ruthless The Atban Klann was…
Loving all the little extra textures
Yooo! This supa cool! Never heard this one before. I love old BEPs. They were the real thing and supa funky. Long live good music!
You can even make the Black-eyed peas sound good. Well done.
You must not be aware of BEP before Fergie. They were seriously dope! They completely changed their style once they added her to the group but the 2 albums they made prior to that were really good traditional hip hop
@@Beep.Boop.Bop.Very true. Unfortunately, BEP sold out and sold out the culture in spectacular fashion shortly after. William is a dick rider for cash, it's tragic but it happens.
I've never been a B.E.P. fan so I never knew about this song. This sh** is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i'm gonna keep it extra funky: the episode nobody wanted
I'm a huge fan of all the great hip hop producers from Pete Rock to Dre to Marley to Tip, Rza ect. However, when it comes to who's my favorite? It's always been Preemo, hands down. That Daily Operation album made me look at dude in a different light. He only got better and better afterwards. One of my highlights of buying a new album was reading the credits and seeing a Preemo track on there. Salute to you DJ Premier. There can only truly be one GOAT and for me, that's this man. Catalogue is impeccable.
I think this was the first song i heard that made me realise i like rap music
Shout out to the GOAT DJ/Producer
Keep it movin' as you do! Happy you brought this back for us, your history is amazing and you share it so well. Nice to get this history from YOUR mouth.
Every Time I see a video from Preemo, I get an garunteed smile throughout the video, Keep it up King!
I remember copping the 12 way back. Me and my pals loved cutting over the instrumental
That Smoking Grooves tour was bananas. I remember seeing the show outside D.C. and when Gang Starr popped off cats bum rushed the stage from the lawn! Crazy night but so much great music and so much love. Thanks for taking me back to that Era with this one Preem!
I was at that show (Nissan Pavilion, if I remember correctly). Gang Starr's set was sick. When MOP came out we absolutely lost it. I was hoarse for days after that show. Good times
What preemo should do is load the beats up instrument by instrument, and show us how he made those classic instrumentals like easy mo be does. Along with the stories.
I was at the Buffalo Smokin’ grooves. Probably 16 years old at the time. Met Guru (R.I.P.). Smoked a blunt with BReal and met the whole Cypress Hill. Met a few other people too that day. One of the illest shows I’ve been to! Dope episode!!!!
This man shouted out Esthero and Kim Hill ❤️🔥
please do the story of the brandy almost doesnt count remix, the steel drums are the best thing ever
Bruh are you a mind reader yo??????
Respect for giving Kim Hill and Esthero their props. Kim is forgotten in BEP history, but she was integral from the start.
❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️
@illwilly Respect to Eazy E for putting Will.1.X on and Atban Klann. I hope more people look deeper into this, and Thank you for your continued contributions to hip-hop and music culture.
I still put their Behind The Front record on ( that hidden outro is a gem ), loved them cats early on.
Knowing the stories add even more value for your treasures good sir! Salute the floppy disk! ❤
Yes thank you DJ Premier! I saw Gang Starr and the crew at Smokin Grooves 1998 in Raleigh and have been looking for more background info on it for a long time. Unforgettable show
Thanks again Premier 💯🎚🎛🎧🎙
Thank You FOR BACK Premo! 🎧🔥☝🏾
I can’t explain how much I enjoy the stories behind these iconic records. Very rarely do we get these stories and they’re all fascinating. Thank you Primo.
the mexican dude doing the uprock in the warehouse is still my favorite part
Whats an uprock?
@@AndreiBerezin the pre-breakdance before you hit the floor
Thank you Mr. Premier for doing this. It's great to know how my favorite beats were made. Peace from Poland.
Loved the bridging the gap album…i always felt like Will I Am’s Lost Change album was done around the same time sound wise
yeah it was as he was working on both at the same time and he dropped lost change a year after bridging the gap
Thanks Preemo! 🎉😊
This whole serie brings attencion back to the songs and artists featured in it. SO ICONIC 🙌 (The same Preemo always did with his mixtapes) And That's why he's so loved by the whole HipHop scene. TIMELESS! BEST HH PRODUCER AND IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE
PREMO!!!!! 🔥🫡
Also: shout-out Roc Marciano
Premo getting in shape. Salute
DJ Premier, you are the man mehn. BEP, i love all your old skool songz, y'all released, and the other lady in one of your videos (Joint & Jam). She was the best in the group. I don't know why y'all kicked her out of the group all of a sudden. Can't forget the dance moves and steps. Y'all my people's people.
Great to see the return of the series! Not to happy with the AI background, standing for your own collection was real on every level.
Salute to the 💾! Thanks preemo!
probably the only black eyed peas song i will ever listen to because they really "aint hip hop to me"but thats okay they made their lane
Preemo can do these forever, his catalog is untouched
It’s crazy, people forget that BEP started off as a MC group. Before the fergie they had amazing rhymes and songs. Not a lot of groups can do 4 separate eras and be successful (straight hip hop, hip hop/pop era, EDM era and now in their Latin era)
That czarface hat is 🔥
Season 2 episode 2, let's go!🎉
Primo does this for the art of hip hop and that shines through in every shout out
God this is bringing back memories. Saw you on that tour in nj. The whole crowd bum rushed from the lawn down toward the front. Got like 15 rows back for busta but then got caught.
Yo they We’re housing!!! Moves were fire before they crossed over
I saw this on IG since I watch youtube boom peace from Peru
The Czarface caps though. Shout-out to Inspectah Deck and Esoteric.
Dope I remember this tour when it hit LA. That’s when I witnessed one of Premier and (r.i.p.) Guru brotherly arguments. 😂
Great to see how they used to kick it back in the late 90s. Respect! 💯🙏🏽
We went to the Smoking Grooves Tour show in Montreal in 98. 🔥
Hi Bro 👊🏽😎🎧 i like it this series hope you come one time again to Germany Peace Bro ✌🏽😎🎧 Dj Xtreme
Dude premier you wearing a czarface hat!!!! The best new hip hop of the last 10 years. Shoot out to 7l eso and fonzareli
Glad to see you back uploading!
I remember my older sister being a big BEP fan back in the day. But she didn't know this track and ended up liking it. So I was hyped showing her some music for a change, as I usually would steal her CD's and tapes as a kid lol. Thanks for bringing back that memory!
I saw that tour in Houston. Loved it
track and video are both incredible
Always respected them for being them self. Regardless if I stopped listening to them when they started doing more pop records, still respect them for who they are
Bringing a tired captive lion on stage at loud hip hop jams is one of the most moronic things I've heard in a long time 😡😡😡
This was the often overlooked and BEST era imo of the Black Eyed Peas. They were actual b-boys with that jazzy, tribal roots style known by the likes of Abstract Tribe Unique, Pharcyde, Digable Planets, and of course ATCQ.
Fun fact: Will had only known Apl a few years before they formed and barely spoke English when they first met. He learned so fast he developed lyrical prowess! Back in 98, I had no idea Apl was Filipino AND a FOB lol
Let's not be ridiculous and associate lyrical prowess with Apl or Taboo. They could dance but that's where it stops. Wil could rhyme, but his records never displayed the talents he showed as a freestyler before they were on. But props to Apl fo reppin for the Flips.
@@CinqueMalcolm okay okay lol. But I mean for English to be his second language, it was a feat back then. At least we got young EZ Mil holding that torch for us! BEP has always kinda been style>substance. But their style along with the other artists I mentioned were so influential to me as musician and fashionisto
2:20 Lion was probably high to be less aggressive 🤐
Gratitude
I met Preemo when I was starving artist eating cheetos
Ran into Fam at Macys in San Fran
Gave him my album with a shaky hand .
Dont know if he heard it
At this nerd (me) served his purpose.
One of of the coolest nights of my life.
we are soooo back
So dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
Keep the videos coming! Thanks Preemo
Wassup PREEMO
Preem's recall is amazing!
BEP are one of those groups that always seemed genuine and just cool people. Another great video and glad to see the fresh content!
DJ Premier is LEGENDARY 🔥🔥🔥💯💯🫡
Beautiful story, thank you for sharing Premo
Preemo = Number One Itchyban = GOAT!!! #DJ_Premier_Forever
This song randomly popped in my head today at work and i come home and its the first video that comes up on my youtube. Reading my mind!!!
Joints and jams was the shits !!
I just found this single from a used media store in their tiny vinyl section! Couldn’t say no
Geeked this is back!!!
Will, Apple and Tab brought a whole breakin trio package in the late 90's era. Bridging The Gap was special
H#ll yeahh im so happy these returned❤
I attended this tour. It was amazing. After Gang Starr set, Guru came out, squeezed in on the 2 row (right in front of us and was absolute STAN during PE’s set. Black Eye Peas were straight b-boys. They were amazing. We knew Violet Brown (who helped them get signed) and she had introduced us before their debut. Freddie Foxxx was there for the Gang Starr set. Only time I’ve ever gotten to see him. And PE was in TOP form. Great memories.
My dude dropping knowledge
At the end of each season, I’d love to see:
a) a compilation of every time Preem shouts someone out
b) the episodes WITHOUT the shout outs. I wonder how long they’d be!?
Love this show! I’m just not a fan of the new background, I loved the records you used to have in the background because you always switched them up which made me look em up. ✌🏽❤️
I have never seen the video what an awesome idea!!
I forgot about this banger! And I went to that tour when it came thru Raleigh. 2nd row seats. Dopeness!
✊🏽❤️🖤💚🔥🔥🔥🔥Glad you brought it back Preem!
Hadn't ever seen them B-Boy like... iLL Moves !!!!
These are priceless. 😊
Been waitin on this one Premo
