I use Hydreigon all the time on my main Gen 9 OU Team; genuinely believe it has the tools to be a true OU mon, especially now that Chien-Pao’s been banished to Ubers. A Draco Meteor coming off a maxed modest base 125 Sp. Attack is always going to sting and Dark Pulse is a fantastic alternate attack too at least neutrally hit most switch-ins [plus choice scarf lets it outspeed Dragapult and OHKO it]. It competes for dark-type special attacker slot with Greninja, whose much faster without needing a choice scarf. However, Hydreigon hits harder, is much bulkier with 92/90/90 hp and defences with Levitate ignoring Spikes chip (or being slowed by a left-field Sticky Webs team) and has some clutch resists so it can use it natural bulk to hard-switch in, tank a resisted hit (or ignore Ground & Psychic attacks entirely) and provide immediate offensive pressure afterwards. Plus it has coverage out the wazoo! Earth Power, Flash Cannon, Focus Blast, Flamethrower/Fire Blast, Surf/Hydro Pump. If there’s something in particular you’re team needs KO’ed, Hydreigon can get it done. Thank you for reading my Hydreigon TedTalk 😅
The only thing good with Iron Juguilis is that it has 4 weaknesess, none of them being a 4x unlike Hydreigon with 5 plus fairy being a 4x, but that doesn't matter when you can terastalize into a type that resists fairy.
"what cost would i have to pay for my futuristic upgrade?" "you lose your dragon type. Now you spam hurricane" "okay..." "also you lose your malice and heads" "muthafu-" "also you're smaller and you 're far out reach from OU" " *Censored for youtube policy* "
I feel like im the only one that liked the future paradox forms being "just robots". Because i can imagine some future world where by some disaster multiple pokemon species died out and resorted to creating the iron pokemon we know now. Also why i like the shinies for some of them being all metal. It looks like a manufacturing mistake which is cool to me
Meanwhile, I think they are meant to be "eerie", because (THEORY) I don't think they are actually from the future, they are based upon urban legends of said Pokemon from the future, so they can just look unnatural, but familiar at first glance.

The Jug is niche, but underrated. I used it on a team with Pincurchin (another underrated mon in the meta, specifically because it enables paradox mons), Pelipper for rain, and 4 future paradox mons. Takes a little setup, and unfortunately pincurchin doesn’t switch in well, but specs Jug hurricane with quark drive and rain hits UNBELIEVABLY hard.

You know what would be neat to see done with Hydreigon? If we got another Legends game which gave us a past version of it. The Violet Dex states that Hydreigon is only so aggressive nowadays because people were afraid of it and chased it away, so how about a Dragon/Fairy Hydreigon that's super friendly, maybe playing up it's jester theme? We're missing that type combo now that MegAltaria isn't a thing anymore, so it would be neat to see and could be exactly what Hydreigon would need to return to OU after the fairies bullied it out.

Just have to comment to let you know this video had me nearly choking to death on my dinner. I can't recall the last time I heard a roast this deep on a single Pokemon. I didn't think much of this Pokemon before clicking this video, and now every time I see it I will remember all of this, so thank you.
I think the most ironic part was one of the best feaatures about hydregion was the versiality it provided, at least in the past. It could run DD, NP, Choiced, Defogger, LO Roost but Jugulius lost basically all of that. Dark+Flying is a good stab combo, but it has to use Hurricane which outside of rain has shakey accuracy. It cannot use nasty plot which alongside booster energy might make a good late game cleaner, despite being flying cannot get rooser for longevity or defog for utility. The attack lost basically kills the chances of it being mixed, however the drop wasn't large enough that it had some other stat getting a crazy boost. Also beta Hydregion was going to be a tank so they could've made some war machine version of hydregion but just made it pointy
Even though my favorite Pokemon is Garchomp, the first Pokemon I took to level 100 that wasn't my starter or a legendary was Hydreigon. I actually adore the name Iron Jugulis. I think my immediate thought by word association when I hear it is “I am going to rip out your jugular” energy - Which is intimidating to the max. It’s funny though, because jugulis doesn’t seem to be a real word / a word with any meaning relevant to the mon. Really weird choice there. Deffo a shame how this thing plays, too. Wish it had more flavour, you hate to see it. Great video as always my guy!!❤️
That name doomed it. Hydreigon is a fluke of a cool Pokémon that looks cool and plays nicely for everyone alike. Since they decided to take a stab at Hydreigon again, (especially with the supposedly cool name Iron Jugulis) Iron Jugulis was destined to fail as it is a rule that cool Pokémon (that is, Pokémon who immediately look cool and/or have a signature ability and have no other selling points) are destined to suck.
It’s got a face not even a mother could love. It’s got a name that sounds like a torture device for Richie Rich characters. It’s got the charisma of E. coli. Say it with me, it’s Iron Jugulis!
I honestly don’t like how all the paradox Pokémon have the same abilities. They did the same thing with the Ultra Beasts and honestly it just seems uncreative and lazy to me. Sure, it’s an ability unique to them that pairs with the abilities of the cover legendaries, but they giving them actual abilities if not new, still unique abilities would help to make them not only more viable but more interesting as well.
Thank god there is no version of hydreigon that is worse in every way at all, with a bad name, lower BST, worse movepool and typing paired with it's ability. That would simply be ridiculous. Hydreigon is perfect in everyway, and I'm glad that there is no other version ever, not in the past nor the future. Did you think anything would change because you clicked "read more"? There is no future hydreigon, go away.
It's real, it's a Dragon Tank based on Hydreigon's original dragon tank inspiration, and not a neon Honchkrow because that would be silly, especially because it coming in the _future_ would give the Pokémon it's supposed to replace time to learn and set up Stealth Rock to trap and kill it the moment it shows up. 🤣
They really should have doubled down on the hydra theme and made its' arm "heads" bigger and more menacing, and lean into the futuristic theme by having the heads be connected to the body with metal pipes, y'know, so it actually fits its namesake of IRON JUGULIS. I don't understand why its' name refers to its necks when if anything emphasis on the necks in the design was turned down.

Before heavy duty boots I sometimes used Hydreigon as a defogger in ubers because it wasn't weak to rock and could check Primal Groudon
And also as a scarfer
I love Neverhood. I feel like, sometimes, it was just a wild fever dream. Because nearly nobody even knows what it was... But I know. I was there.
Crazy game
Iron jugulis? More like inferior jugulis
Ok that was a terrible joke
*laughs at the joke*
More like Iron Junk-ulis
It was a good joke.
Better joke than this thing’s design
The shiny is also such a letdown
I come back here every so often because it always kills me. This is one of your absolute best.
this is in fact, true
You think you an online rando have the level of expertise needed to verify this video? You obviously want attention.
Honestly just give this thing No Guard. We've seen that concept before with Mega Pidgeot and it's not bad.
I actually think that the Paradox Pokemon in general should have had some hidden abilities. It might break a few of them but it would help them feel way more distinct.
hydreigon is the swepper on my team. iron jugulis is the pokemon that i forgot about
I use Hydreigon all the time on my main Gen 9 OU Team; genuinely believe it has the tools to be a true OU mon, especially now that Chien-Pao’s been banished to Ubers.
Didn’t expect Jimothy to start reading out Mein Kampf at the end, was definitely a bit uncalled for imo
Iron thorns: *walks into the room*
Jugulis: GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!
The only thing good with Iron Juguilis is that it has 4 weaknesess, none of them being a 4x unlike Hydreigon with 5 plus fairy being a 4x, but that doesn't matter when you can terastalize into a type that resists fairy.
"what cost would i have to pay for my futuristic upgrade?"
"you lose your dragon type. Now you spam hurricane"
"okay..."
"also you lose your malice and heads"
"muthafu-"
"also you're smaller and you 're far out reach from OU"
" *Censored for youtube policy* "
This video was hilarious. I haven’t laughed out loud from a RUclips video in so long! Thank you!
I hope that some day Hydreigon gets sheer force as a HA
All real Hydreigon enjoyers use the Wide Lens + Focus Energy 100% crit rate, Draco Meteor sp.atk drop avoiding, 0EV 0IV -speed nature Trick Room set
been having alot of fun with scarf hydreigon in ou, especially alongside iron valiant and gholdengo. so glad hydreigon is the only hydreigonlike pokemon out there right now
iron jugulis: *exists*
jimothy: and I took that personally
The Jug is niche, but underrated. I used it on a team with Pincurchin (another underrated mon in the meta, specifically because it enables paradox mons), Pelipper for rain, and 4 future paradox mons. Takes a little setup, and unfortunately pincurchin doesn’t switch in well, but specs Jug hurricane with quark drive and rain hits UNBELIEVABLY hard.
So Iron Jugulis is worse Zapdos then?
@@iantaakalla8180 I mean Zapdos is elite. It’s got good typing, decent bulk when invested, roost for recovery, plus discharge and static make it a paralysis monster. Zapdos has been good since gen 1 and it’s not going anywhere.
IJ is the primary reason I wish they didn’t just copy-paste the same abilities over from one another. If it could just retain levitate and became dark steel or something I feel it’d be significantly better.
Totally picturing a gaggle of Dieno wandering the town like puppies
@@TheWizardMus
I imagine a historical Deino as being a sort-of reverse seeing-eye dog, where they're still blind, and spend their first few days of life calling out for a person or Pokemon to act as it's eyes. And of course they're super loyal to whoever helps them out.
"jugulis is horrible"
terra-flying hurricane jugulis on rain: *observe*
Then that means its only niche will be stolen by Zapdos soon meaning it is both worse Hydreigon and worse Zapdos somehow. What a feat!
Just have to comment to let you know this video had me nearly choking to death on my dinner. I can't recall the last time I heard a roast this deep on a single Pokemon. You can hear in JC's voice how offended he is by Iron Jugulis from every conceivable angle. Here I thought I was just going to get some general competitive trivia, but instead I was treated to stand-up comedy, and now I can't even say the name Iron jugulis without chuckling.
This one Pokemon is what motivated me to start making teams of more than just my starter and some legendaries. IRON JUGULIS HOWEVER MAKES ME WANT TO SPAM LEGENDS AGAIN AND NOT CARE ABOUT TRAINING ANYBODY.
same. garchomp will always be number one but hydreigon will always be special to me aswell
Hydreigon dropped to RU rn and Jugulis is RUBL
Game Freak should have made Iron Jugulis be based on a tank since Hydreigon was originally going to be designed after a war tank.
Friendly reminder:
Quark Drive activates under Electric terrain HOWEVER Iron Jugulis doesn't even get the electric type power boost under terrain because it is a flying type and the only way to get the terrain electric type boost, the pokemon has to be grounded.
So not only the Ability is out right useless, it cant even use it correctly you have to use tera blast electric type BUT AT THAT POINT YOU MINE AS WELL NOT HAVE THE FLYING TYPING TO BEGIN WITH!
*WHAT WERE THEY THINKIIIIING???*
Most of the Paradox mons don't actually do anything with the sun/terrain. That's not a very fair reason to pick on Jugulis.
@@grandempress1947 But isnt the whole point of their Abilities and atributes to sinergize with their respective weather/Terrain
Iron Valiant gets access to thunderbolt wich in itself gets a good powerboost in electric terrain
Iron Hands is an Electric type that apreciates the electric boost
Flutter mane and Roaring moon abuses the sun even tho its not a Fire type
Iron thorns also gets a good boost in terrain
Iron Jugulis is a quark drive user that Cant even use the electric terrain boost because of the flying Typing
@@AmoniPaleo
The terrain activates its Quark Drive. That's all it needs it to do. Iron Treads, Bundle, Moth, and Jugulis don't benefit any further from the terrain beyond Quark Drive activation. The ONLY thing Jugulis does worse than them is not getting the sleep immunity. But it literally annihilates Amoongus, Brute Bonnet, Toedscruel, and Breloom on sight anyways so its REALLY not much of a downgrade
And let's not forget the Scarlet side of things. Aside from Flutter Mane getting Mystical Fire, they all just basically give themselves a free Fire weakness in the sun. And Great Tusk and Sandy Shocks are the only two that really care about having a water neutrality
@@grandempress1947 A fire weakeness? What are you talking about m8??
Thats not how weather works
Also the Sun gives a power boost to mystical fire, Flutter mane abuses this to counter steel types
What does Iron Jugulis get?
It doesnt get an electric Boost
It has to run Heavy duty boost 99% of the time where it could apreciate a Choice specs (In wich Hydrrigon loves to use)
It doesnt even get roost and its a flippin flying type
Its less bulky then Hydreigon
You have to run in rain or you either have to deal with Hurricanes terrible accuracy or use airslash
I get it, you love this mishmash of a disapointment of a pokemon but dont deny this is terribly designed.
Even Brute Bonnet can somewhat work alot better then whatever Iron Jugulis is trying to do
Hydreigon is what Iron Jugulis wants to be, but its a disapointment
Even its dex entry feels so Unispired, they cleary had NO IDEA What they wanted to do with this thing.
Weird how you made a whole video about a Pokémon that never existed.
Also this video started the whole iron mugulis story
Hydreigon's son does disappoint.
This thing's name is basically just an innuendo. It may not be good, but it will always be the throat goat
Iron jugelis kinda reminds me of mecha king ghidorah from the 1991 movie godzilla vs king ghidorah.
I am pleased that we are cancelling Iron Jugulis
That splash art on the Smogon site just looks like a Doodlebob version of Hydreigon to me
Lmao I love watching this. Still your funniest video to me. I’ve yet to hear you this animated
Let's be real, the name of every single paradox pokemon are straight up dumb. Gamefreak was clearly on drugs when they named the paradox mons
At least Iron Jugulis started Iron Mugulis' story 😂
0:50 "levitate is an ability you can never go wrong with"
that is unless you're rotom-fan
all the future forms have the worst names of all time
I won't repeat myself for like the tenth time, so I'll just say thank you Jim for this video.
"levitate is an ability that can never go wrong"
Rotom-Fan would like to talk to you
i like your hatred towards iron jugulis, it sounded very genuine, love it
Iron Jugulis > Brute Bonnet
I... actually love the name "Iron Jugulis". I think it's design looks really slick, too.
It’s got a face not even a mother could love.
It’s got a name that sounds like a torture device for Richie Rich characters.
It’s got the charisma of E. coli.
Say it with me, it’s Iron Jugulis!
Fact checked: true
I had only seen a tiny low res image of iron juggles and was it was the reason I selected violet over scarlet. I was scammed.
"Levitate is an ability you can never go wrong with"
Rotom-Fan- "Oh, on God?"
When Iron Jugulis also gets Levitate as a hidden ability to rub the salt in the wound of the jugular/carotid/any neck artery or vein
LEAVE GARBODOR OUT OF THIS.
I like Garbodor actually. Funny Pokemon
It looks pretty decent for a walking trash heap.
At least Garbodor reliably sets spikes wherever it lands.
omg this was HILARIOUS, id love to see you tear apart other non-existing pokemon like that xD.
damn i though this was a competitive scene video not a roasting one
I have never seen more hate directed at a single Pokémon in my life 😭
You might have to make a call to your boy Viper to take care of Iron Jugulus...
A truthful comment.
Someone send him an Iron Jugulis team

4:17-6:20 ogm dude calm down, that iron jugulis guy must be crying right now 😂
Dont worry i respect his opinion
@@AI-DreigonGPT you there sir,mad respect to you for respecting his opinion
They really should have doubled down on the hydra theme and made its' arm "heads" bigger and more menacing, and lean into the futuristic theme by having the heads be connected to the body with metal pipes, y'know, so it actually fits its namesake of IRON JUGULIS. I don't understand why its' name refers to its necks when if anything emphasis on the necks in the design was turned down.
The paradox mons are supposed to be the reason to choose what version to get?
I chose Scarlet based entirely on Tyranitar being available in it
Imagine being worse than a retired and hairy version of a balloon
Holy shit, I was NOT expecting that absolute tirade over Iron Jugulus.
108 Speed 123 Spatck Hurricane pretty hype tho
Um Actually it's 122 🤓☝
I know it would of been kind of on the nose, but why not just call it Iron Hydra
Hey Jim, a cool idea for a video might be to make/doctor an all Hisuian team 🙂
