Now you've got me trying to imagine two way NFL players lol. I could see a WR/CB combo or something but that's not a huge leap. Pitching and Batting are entirely different, it's just insane.
We may have to wait a few years or he's just going to win his own award every season lol. I do wonder how many players like him will appear in the coming years though.
I’m not sure how many more two way players we’ll actually see. But I would love an Ohtani Award for best all-around player each year. MVP has become such a hitting award, or for special accomplishments. But an Ohtani award for whoever brings it all together the best offensively, defensively, speed, and baseball IQ. Who is Mr. Baseball this year? Give them the Ohtani Award.
The only problem with that is that MVP is not exclusive to hitters, it's just dominated by them. An Ohtani award that isn't exclusive to players that meet a requirement of a certain number of at bats and innings pitched would be seen as redundant. I really do hope we see an uptick in two way players though, no doubt Ohtani is inspiring a lot of young players to pursue that path, a few years down the line we may see prospects making waves and he'll be recognized as a trailblazer.
@@Fifty50Network then they can make MVP for hitter, and MVP for pitcher. With only one MVP, you can't make things fair for all and it makes everybody jealous of Ohtani.
@@Fifty50Network I want to see more TWP. I'm pretty sure none will be able to play at Ohtani's level and that would help all the skeptics to realize Ohtani's greatness.
obsession is right...i've never been more obsessed with an athlete since michael jordan...ohtani is the new sheriff in town
You're not alone, he's basically establishing a whole new set of accomplishments to strive for. We're watching history every game.
Me? Since Kobe, hes an alien/ Ohtani IS the GOAT!!!!!!!!!!!
MJ took steroids and so does Ohtani.
@@DeepDishPizza japanese are about honor...ohtani is no cheater by any means
@@manciti4709 Yes he is. PEDs
I just love him!
Iv'e been telling people you do not realize what he is doing. It would be like being the MVP QB for a team who was also All-Pro Linebacker.

They used to do that back in the 40s and 50s. The great players would go both ways and sometimes special teams too.
Dude is special. The only person I can think of that pitched great and hit so many homers is Babe Ruth. Ohtani is a freak!
MLB needs to make an Ohtani award and present it to the best TWP every year.

He's got 40 home runs now. He's hitting a home run every 10 at bats. If he keeps it up he will hit over 50 home runs this year. Maybe close to 60.
Unfortunately, he’s being pitched around more with Trout injured. : /
@@JakeupHupert Reminds me of Barry Bonds without Jeff Kent behind him.
Love his rookie cards $$$$$
I can do what he can do. It doesn't look hard at all. Baseball isn't a big deal.
That’s funny
Same actually, I'm pretty sure I could go 0-5 with a couple strikeouts. The rest of the stuff idk.
