Best Ivanova comment: "Who am I? I am Susan Ivanova. Commander. Daughter of Andrei and Sophie Ivanov. I am the right hand of vengeance, and the boot that is going to kick your sorry ass all the way back to Earth, sweetheart! I am Death Incarnate, and the last living thing that you are ever going to see. God sent me."
@Riku "Understand that I can never forgive your people for what they did to my world. My people can never forgive your people. But I - can forgive - you." And now I'm crying again.
the show never intended to make it anything beyond that, which is a rarity in scifi- at least between two heterosexual people of the same species and similar age.
@@SantomPh at least regarding Ivanova, the show was rather explicit about her "heterosexuality" with Talia, something that actually made sense in the context and for that character, way before something like that had to be a box to be checked... Also, the show was pretty obvious about Talia rejecting Garibaldi. Yet personally I can't say I blame Garibaldi for having dirty thoughts about her. In any way, Sheridan and Ivanova made a good duo.
I love those two! Their friendship was perfect! They had chemistry as a comedic duo. I'm glad the writers didn't try to go all soap opera with this show. Otherwise you wouldn't have a man and a woman being good friends without tension.
The funniest thing about this scene: After all the work he does to make B5 look as bad as humanly possible, to the point of straight of fabricating stuff, he doesn't bother to mention that they threatened to throw him out an airlock. Evidently, as a reporter, he gets that often enough that he doesn't think it would make them sound bad.
It's been said if you watch his report carefully you'll see this reporter actually kept his word to Sheridan and his story of what Babylon 5 has become is bordering on absurd which fits with what he says earlier "some of us stayed on figuring we could slip the truth in quietly."
They did a great job of showing and advancing the relationship between Sheridan and Ivanova. They'd served together previously, so the respect was already there. The inner circle were all close friends by the end, though.
Oh, how I loved the humor of this great TV show, all these little plays, this deadpan sarcasm, the mimics of the protagonists like here in this scene in which Susan Ivanova played the little girl ho was caught stealing the apples from neighbors garden and how Sheridan the whole time was on her side. Thanks für posting it 12 years ago.
I've wondered what happened to Dan Randell (the news anchor guy) after Earth was liberated and ISN reinstated? Hopefully he and the other traitors were either "airlocked" or serving in a penal colony.
I love love Sheridan and Ivanova relationship he was her captain but he became her best friend always love the humor between them I wish I saw more of it in season 5 w/her becoming the head of babylon 5 and he as the president I don't hate Liz but I love Ivanova
Ivanova in overall command of Babylon 5 would have been an unmitigated disaster; while shockingly effective as a military commander, she's as diplomatic as an ice pick to the kidneys. The "Last, Best Hope for Peace" wouldn't have panned out when her idea of Diplomacy is typically "Kill it and try again with the next one..."
Cpt. John Sheridan and Commander Susan Ivonova are funny in this scene,,lol. Love how they give the ISN reporter a hard time. Love the "open airlock policy",,lol. Since ISN became a propaganda machine for President Clark, I see why Sheridan and Ivonova gave him a hard time.
Considering the episode it must have been awkward of this guys career when Sheridan got made president of the galaxy after his boss tried to glass the earth.
B5 got right what all the "Woke shows" try to convey and fail, true equality. Doesn't matter your race, sex or species, everyone is an equal (Except for reporters apparently). And this friendship is no different, he's the commander Shes his second, but they treat each other as equals. That is where true friendship and great humor comes from
Ivanova and Sheridan are both military officers directly linked in a chain of command. They both understand that she is the subordinate and John is the commander, although they evolve to be very close friends as well due to proximity and their interactions with others on the station. "woke shows" make the error in portraying equality as already having happened, bypassing the message they try to convey.
it seems all great scifi shows have that blend of humor ,with the seriousness of the show it self. b5 had this , sg1 had this.both great scifi shows that had long life spans . there are plenty of examples of others as well .
Comander did you threten to throw this man out an airlock? I'm Schocked and dismayed.I'd Remind you we are short on suplies here we can't afford to take perfectly good clothing and throw it out into space.Always take the jacket off first i toold you that before. I'm sorry she mant to say striped naked and thrown out an airlock i'm sorry for any confusion this may have caused. Clasic.
"And an open airlock policy" the best Susan Ivanova's lines in the whole show.
Nah. My favourite is "Figures. All my life, I've fought against imperialism. Now, suddenly, I am the expanding Russian frontier."
@@ScorpiusZA. but with very nice borders
its the way she says it.

"Ivanova is God"
This is the best-written friendship in science fiction history, bar none.
@Riku "Understand that I can never forgive your people for what they did to my world. My people can never forgive your people. But I - can forgive - you." And now I'm crying again.
Sheridan: We have a open door policy.
Ivanova: And the open air lock policy...
Ha ha ha, it's fantastic realy, and they get point about reporters to.
Frankly, this is how we SHOULD treat reporters. Bunch of lying scum.
Yes exactly. I adored that that their relationship could be completely platonic. He's almost like a brother to her.

The reporter was supposed to make B5 look bad, not good. Reporting the open airlock policy would be showing B5 as the good guys.
@@100mmtubeofjustice7 well President Clark is a what Trump wants to be
More like a future Fox News reporter

I gotta love Sheridan's berating of Ivanova only for him to suggest something even more absurd. hehe Thanks for the first laugh of the day.

Love that scene, so funny and I love how Susan is trying to keep a calm expression
This is what I love about B5. It never took itself too seriously and all the characters got good one liners.
I just love the chemistry these characters had between each other by this point.
One of my favorite scenes in this show!
Ahahaha, I love these two together. One of the best friendships of the show.
Someone needs to do an "Ivonova Best Of One Liners" video.
Did anyone else almost hear "Dan Rather" when Dan Randal introduced himself?
no cause Dan Rather has ethics
B5 had great humor. I miss it for that alone.
Sheridan: There's something far worse than the Shadows........... reporters. How true.
I love the little look between Sheridan and Ivanova 😂😂😂
I've wondered what happened to Dan Randell (the news anchor guy) after Earth was liberated and ISN reinstated? Hopefully he and the other traitors were either "airlocked" or serving in a penal colony.
I noticed vir is the Director of this episode 😊
RIP Stephen Furst...

Several hundred years and "reporters" still haven't changed one bit!y
The comedic timing of these two!
Man those uniforms are crisp and nice!
One of my favorite scenes in B5.
Considering the episode it must have been awkward of this guys career when Sheridan got made president of the galaxy after his boss tried to glass the earth.
Would love to watch the whole series again
This is the episode where Fox News of the 23rd century stops by Babylon 5 for an honest report.
One of the many reasons Babylon 5 is still the best sci-fi show
Sheridan: I'm sorry she meant stripped naked and thrown out an airlock
Reporter: laughs like he thinks thy are kidding

Sheridan's a military man. And they generally don't have much time for reporters, especially ones like this guy from a hostile foreign power.
Ivanova and Sheridan are both military officers directly linked in a chain of command. They both understand that she is the subordinate and John is the commander, although they evolve to be very close friends as well due to proximity and their interactions with others on the station.

Spoiler alert: his producer's name is D'Anna Biers.

I would have loved to see that bastard called to account after the war for what he did.
Lol, this is gold.

people who have watched the clip don't need a line by line miniscript to read afterwards
Ivanova is god ^^
👍👍👍❤❤❤
@jeffman52001 Yeah, lackeys of dictators don't get an easy time when dealing with the crew of Babylon 5!
