I loved him in the movie Coal Miners Daughter and I bet I've watched it over a 100 times since it's came out . It never gets old . I finally got to go to Hurricane Mills 3 yrs. ago and I loved every second of that tour . I didn't just think about Loretta Lynn and Dolittle, but I thought about Tommy Lee Jones and Sissy Spacek too . I didn't get to see Loretta , but I got to see one of her grandson's . He was outside blowing leaves of the road in front of their house .
Tommy Lee is a great actor. The interviewer tried to get Tommy to say something bad about Mooney and Loretta but Tommy Lee was to smart for her. I loved it when Tommy Lee said.. It's none of my business and I don't know why we are even talkin about it . Lol. Guess that s why the interview was so short. Lol. I love Tommy Lee. He is a good ole country boy and without him playing Mooney I don't think that the Coal Miner's Daughter movie would have been half as good. He should have won an award for his portrayal of Mooney in the movie. Loretta even said that Tommy Lee should have been reconized for his acting in the movie during her interview with Michael Apted that is on the new version of Coal Miner's Daughter.
Tommy Lee portrayed Mooney (or Doo as Loretta called him) so well in the movie and he would win the bet because Loretta and Mooney never parted and Loretta nursed him at home until he passed away. The reporter was way our of line with her questioning but Tommy is a class act and handles it very well.
In spite of all his problems Loretta loved Doo and Doo love Loretta and that is the reason they stayed together. If the reporter knew anything about the story she would not have asked those intrusive rude questions. Tommy shut her down.
And people wonder why Tommy Lee Jones seems to be uncomfortable, when being interviewed. He is, probably, expecting a bunch of rude, irrelevant, questions.
Tommy doesn't play, except when he's playing legendary football at Harvard. The questions are ridiculous but this is the great thing about actor's spouses staying out of the spotlight, they leave reporters starving.
