The camera is nearly perfect for vlogging because of the size. I wish it had a slightly wider lens like 20mm-50mm or something would be awesome. It's also dope that it has a built in ND filter.

I recently switched from de Canon G7x mark III to the ZV-1 en already I love this camera. Especially the autofocus is a lot better. I notice I pick up this camera way more then the Canon (don't get me wrong, it's a good camera, but the Sony is a better fit for me) . Really makes me a happy vlogger :D

The video I'm working on now was completely filmed with the ZV-1 (and coincidentally, the same 3rd party batteries as you), and I'm in love with this thing. So easy to use, image is great, AF is just ridiculous...yeah I'm a fan.
I'm not using auto white balance though. That's not gonna happen anytime soon lol.

@@lilafromyoutube I just don’t trust auto anything lol. Maybe I’ll give it a shot on some test footage and see how I feel about it, but right now I’m setting everything manually.
Hahaha try it. I have everything in auto except for shutter speed and aperture! For vlogging auto is totally fine 😄
It's a great little camera and works well with active stabilization for vlogging but they should have made the lens a little wider to counter the stabilization crop. The footage is bad when using it handheld without stabilization activated. I do believe you can add a wide angle attachment onto it from a 3rd part company though which I think is needed for vlogging with active stabilization on. Nice vid!
Totally agree! I have heard about the wide angle attachment but tbh I want this camera to be as easy and small as possible so I'm not really looking to add stuff to it. Just hoping a ZV-2 will have a wider lens
A wider lens and with macro capabilities like on iPhone 13. But more importantly usb-c over micro USB.
Finally, your ZV-1 video is out! I bet you love this camera that can be carried everywhere and ready to shoot! Yes, the tiny battery is a big issue and if you use a mini tripod, the battery compartment become inaccessible. This video is great and we need to see more, I really like when you vlog. Btw, I saw the weather is cold and humid in The Netherlands, here in California we have a nice Spring 😅
Ah shit forgot to mention that! I never use a tripod for it but you’re right. That’s another con. I’m going to start vlogging again soon. Just need to get some stuff done first :) it’s always humid in the Netherlands, 60-70% is normal haha. Jealous of the Californian weather!

Use a cage or L-bracket if you constantly use ZV-1 with a tripod.
I couldn't have said it better myself. I love, Love, LOVE this camera! The Ulanzi tripod/selfie stick fixes the active SteadyShot/crop issue for me. This is a game-changing tool for run and gun vlogging. Oh... to answer your question: you are the way you are and we love you for it! Cheers!

I’m not using it anymore, sadly. I hadn’t vlogged for a good part of the year and since I got the 17-28 I noticed I grabbed my a7SIII with that lens more often than the ZV1. I sold the camera and I’m very tempted to buy it again or buy the mark II now hahaha. It’s such a nice camera to have and I miss it.

Yes Battery life is an issue, but also the turn ON Button in the middle of the Center of the camera case!?! Switched ON unwanted several times in my big pack.

@@lilafromyoutube yes a bit. With the WA lens not as pocket friendly and a little front heavy. But still very manageable. I used it to film Martial Arts competitions and my Taiji videos.

Thanks, Lila. I bought the ZV-1 when it first came out and it is just a great camera for what it is intended to do. Toss in my truck for quick videos. I do love my A7Siii but sometimes you just want something in your pocket that is quick, small and does a great job. PS. I have also left it in auto since it came out of the box with no need to change to manual. I use the Deity V-Mic D4 Duo because I wanted something small with two mics.
Nice! I love my a7siii too but it's a pain for vlogging haha. The D4 duo is a great mic!
I think it’s a good camera to start.
I made all my videos with it, and I color grade then and shoot with slog2; which is a bit noisy with sv1. But for this price it’s a good equipment.
Why don't you use the footage straight of the camera?

Awesome. I’ve just had the wide lens adapter arrive. But it’s such a cool camera to just throw in a bag or pocket on a day out. Much easier than the canon 80d I used to carry around. 🤣
how big does the adapter make the camera? I really don't want to add any accessories to the ZV-1 because I LOVE how small it is haha

Hi Lila! Thanks for a great video. Could you do a video on what settings you should use for the ZV-1 for example Vlogging, B-roll, depth of field, regular photo etc for us beginners? Maybe some running thru the settings menues? Also if there some extra stuff you should buy for it? I bought a metal railing to put on the bottom which makes it possible for me to change battery even with my tripod on.

When it comes to battery, I saw a DIY solution attaching a small battery pack to a smallrig setup. Seems to give a couple of hours worth, though it's not as small, but still smaller than a full frame camera vlogging setup. Fun video as usual.
That's a good suggestion. I just keep the batteries in my pocket so i can keep my camera as small as it can be haha
@@lilafromyoutube Great video. If you want to keep a small form factor but have great battery life I always recommend the Ulanzi BG-2 battery handle to people. I found out merely by accident that if you drain the Sony NP battery down and plug in the battery handle via usb the camera will run for hours solely off the handle's 6.8k power , it doesn't charge the NP so it's not getting hot and you don't have to buy one of those "dummy batteries". I also use the BG-3 which is 10k mA for literally all day shooting.
Yes, there is a tripod solution in amazon with a small Part to fix a Power bank underneath the tripod plate.
Is the stabilization available in 4k?

do you control your setting ? or everything is on auto ?
White balance and ISO is on auto, the rest is controlled. So I set my aputure and shutter speed.

Depends on what I’m filming honestly. Shutter speed is always set to 1/50 if I film in 25fps. Basically double the frame rate for the shutter speed. Aperture depends
You have such a pretty city to walk around and vlog in! All you'd see here right now is white everything (snow)...and cameras hate that. lol

You can turn on active stabilisation as I show in the video. It’s not ideal but it reduces the shakes a bit
when you vlog with this camera, do you follow the 180 rule or do you simply just put it on intelligent auto to make things faster/easier?
I use the 180 degree rule. The only thing I set to auto is ISO when vlogging

Great video Lila! I loved the ZV1... but sold it due to the stabilisation and battery life. I felt like I needed a gimbal and if I was going to do that, I might as well use my Sony A7SIII (Lucky me) as that's stable enough without the need of the gimbal.
That said, it's a great camera for the price and I think if someone is new to youtube it's hard to beat! What do you think of the ZVE-10?
I haven't used the ZVE-10 yet so I can't really share my thoughts. The reason why I went for the zv-1 though, is because it's so small and all built-in. I love that the lens collapses and I can put it in my pocket and bring it everywhere. The a7siii is VERY heavy for vlogging though hahaha. And obvious, here I'd get stopped everywhere. Not sure how you do it. I'm hoping the zv-2 will solve some of those issues!
I think its an awesome camera !! I have been using this vlog a lot of my content.... but I just wish they would fix up the cropped 4k and battery issues. Also, do you think a gopro would be a good camera for vlogging ?

Without an ULANZI Wide angle adapter the focal length is too tight for my liking.

This is no disrespect to you but in most of the videos where people walk and talk with the ZV-1 I get “sea sick” in a sense from the jello effect you mentioned. I just have a hard time even watching it. Good video though. I think the camera image is great, I likely wouldn’t use a tripod and talk when not walking if it was my camera knowing how it looks.I hope this comment isn’t rude.
Not rude at all. I didn’t consider it but I get how it could affect people in that way. I have been using the active stabilisation a lot, although there’s these micro jitters and it’s cropped in, it’s the best option for this little camera. I really hope the zv-2 will have a wider lens so it’s not as tight
