    I found your channel from 123Homefree Aaron, I love this lifestyle but can't do bec i have a little son. But i already own a house "off grid," no electricity and water source is coming from the rain haha. can't wait to try sleep there.

      That sounds like a great set up! And I think the more of this you do, the better your son will be from it.

    Dude you hit the nail on the head! I’ve been camping for years and your set up is perfection! It took me a while, but I figured out the same thing; just need a few things and you’re good to go. When I first started out, I dragged so much crap and it wasn’t fun. Having to move everything around and dig through shit, I’d end up being like fuck it, not gonna use it because I don’t feel like digging through a bunch of stuff .Finally came to the realization that minimalism is the way to go👍🏼-and that’s pretty much with everything in terms of what you need and what you own. Great video, like and subscribed👍🏼

      Thank you, that’s awesome to hear! I like when I hear that others have come to the same conclusions.

    The popular vanlife solution is under bed storage. But since you don't have much I don't like that idea for you. I'd consider getting or making your own cargo nets that go on the sides of your van that will fill in the empty areas on the dies of your vehicle and keep the vertical head space. Throw your breakfast food in one bag, thrown behind the cargo net, thrown your dinner stuff in another bag thrown behind the cargo net, throw your bedding behind the cargo net etc etc.

    I picked diesel because I can make my own fuil. Free travel will be awesome

      I’d like to learn to make diesel someday.
      This definitely isn’t a post-apocalypse rig but I have thoughts for that.

    travel everywhere and incognito for the most part
    would suggest carrying a large canvas four wall tent for base camp
    Thanks for sharing, safe travels , see you out there on the trail

    Slowly working to achieve a similar life, but my plans are to be a sailing minimalist (mostly). Still need a cabin to occasionally come home to, but that is my plan. Sail the Mediterranean and Greek Islands doing charter service.

      Sailing out there would be incredible. One of my goals is boating the canals in Europe. I’m waiting until all three of my dogs have passed on though so I can go and stay until I’m done.

    Tank size shouldn’t effect leaking. You might need a different regulator between your big tank and the burner/appliance. Most small stoves are designed for use with the little green bottles. There could also be a leak in your appliance itself. I’m currently replacing the Propane system in our RV, learning a lot from an old gas fitter who is in his 80’s!

    • @OverOnTheWildSide
      @OverOnTheWildSide  Год назад +1

      I didn’t mean to imply it was the size of the tank, that’s only a concern to me for putting it on my roof.
      When I turn off the tank valve I’m still able to run my burner. That’s why I’m thinking it’s the valve that isn’t closing correctly.
      I was quoted close to $100 to have it repaired so I’m just gonna run this propane out from cooking and get a different tank.

    • @kristenvincent3622
      @kristenvincent3622 Год назад

      @@OverOnTheWildSide that definitely sounds like you should replace the tank! When I pack up my camp chef or any other burner with a longer hose, I leave the burner on and close the tank valve, it helps purge the gas from the line. I get headaches from propane fumes, and part of my own system replacement is because the regulator has a slight leak and about two days before a tank runs out I get a propane smell coming into the RV. Stay safe!

    How did you get into a wild life style?
    I’m just a younger adult and I want to get into a horse camping lifestyle, but being a suburbs kid I have no idea how. How do you afford having horses and land with minimal income? I recently discovered your channel and your videos are awesome. I’m totally jealous.😆

    • @OverOnTheWildSide
      @OverOnTheWildSide  Год назад +2

      Lots to say on this… you’re welcome to ask more questions if you have them afterward.
      As far as affording them with minimal income, it helps that I give them little care. They’re all young enough they don’t need special diets and foraging on pasture is best for them anyway (I believe).
      So instead of buying hay, I bought property. That means they had a better life and I have an investment that grows in value while also taking less effort (I don’t have to feed them except in winter).
      But irrigating can be a hassle.
      I got into it slowly, first I bought two horses then waited around until I found someone who knew what they were doing that would ride with me.
      After that I just kept learning about horses.
      Shortly after I started riding I also started minimizing my life. That’s taken six years so far and I’m still minimizing. I’m at a pretty reasonable level now. I’ve got my food and shopping under control.
      My life is so minimal I can live out of a car, a minivan, a tiny tiny house, a tipi, or I believe I could live off a horse or horse and cart, but I haven’t done it yet. Just overnight trips.

      @@OverOnTheWildSide thanks for your response, I really appreciate it.
      I used to be a stable hand and people would spend thousands on their horses to spoil them. I never understood why. Sure I love horses and want what’s best for them, but overall do you think they are a high maintenance animal?
      I only know a handful of things being a stable hand for a short period. I’ve always wanted a horse since I was a kid but I was always told “it’s too expensive.”
      Did you train your horses yourself?
      And can you own one horse and they be fine?
      I know they’re herd animals but I don’t know if I could afford 2+ horses let alone one.
      Sorry for all the questions, I’m just really curious.
      I’m just a suburbs kid with a dead end job living paycheck to paycheck. I’ve always wanted to be a nomadic cowgirl. I just want to do as much research as possible to figure out how I’m gonna get there.

    • @OverOnTheWildSide
      @OverOnTheWildSide  Год назад

      @FlowersPlease I don’t mind questions…
      If you’re with a horse all day every day, having one wouldn’t be so bad. Like if you were traveling and living with it. Otherwise it can be pretty hard on them.
      I don’t really train mine, I planned to learn but gave up for multiple reasons.
      If you had one or two horses and didn’t have to go to work, you can go off into public land and let them eat for free. However your area is probably different from mine. I have a lot of places I could go camp with mine and let them eat free until it snows.
      The big expenses are a truck and trailer, somewhere to keep it whether you buy land or pay for pasture, hay in winter, deworming and when it hits a certain age teeth floating is important and kind of expensive.
      Also shoes can be expensive. Usually they need to be redone every six weeks. That’s why I learned to do them myself.
      Come to Yakima I can connect you with some horse gals and you can learn and ride with them.

      @@OverOnTheWildSide oh I appreciate it but I won’t be traveling for a while. I plan to move out west in a few years. Gotta get through college first.

      Stay awesome
