  • Yup, we went rogue...er drone.
    Here's a quick shoutout to ‪@CAPTAINDRONE798‬ for his excellent work covering this segment of the drone market. His material helped me zero in on the finalists. He also listed the equipment he uses to make his videos which is where I got the idea to get a digital recorder and external mic. So keep up the great work ‪@CAPTAINDRONE798‬!
    If you want to download and print the prop storage clips I made, they're available on Thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com/thing:403...
    Hubsan US is still running the special on this drone if you're interested. www.hubsanus.com/shop/zino-pr...
    For clarity's sake: I'll be using this at the RC field to film RC planes.
    Stay tuned for first flight and aerial footage...coming soon!

      Rod Nolasco Awesome! I’m glad I could help. There are so many entrants out there and so many good choices it really takes an effort to decide what it is you want first.
      I’m very happy I could help. I’ve been flying this drone quite a bit and aside from USB Disconnects on iPhone, it’s been spectacular. I use an Android (Oneplus 7 Pro) for the app due to the USB disconnect issue and it works perfectly.
      I did hear about the v2 from another viewer. I’ll be anxious to hear how it performs.
      Good luck with your drone.

      @@RCVideoReviews Have you gone thru all the usb cables that came stock with the drone and taken a razor blade or whatever you may have that's effectively sharp at cutting silicone/plastic; and cut the little bulges / nubs on the side of each connector hookup? The little nubs cause the cables to not seat correctly on various phones and I've discovered the cutting off of the nubbs takes care of it 99% of the time for every OS and type of device being used. GOODLUCK!

    I am new to Drone.I am planning to buy one soon. One question, Zino Pro’s more distance coverage means, it will have more signal strength if there is a obstacle between controller and aircraft when we fly at lesser distance (eg:1000M) compared to Zino H117S?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 года назад +1

      Prakash Chandra Radio range is attributable to a small handful of factors: Antenna Design, Tx Power, and Wavelength. There are no discernible differences in antenna design. They’re using the same wavelength. So to achieve the increased range the only possibility I’m aware of is increased tx power. Increased tx power will help with obstacle penetration to an extent. Be aware of the drone behavior in the event of lost signal though. It may want to climb and return home. If it is below a certain altitude it may climb first then return or climb and return simultaneously. If you’re amongst trees that could be bad.

    Can the follow function be used to follow a plane? That's the feature I really want.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 года назад +1

      I really don't think it's fast enough for that. I've watched the follow functions on multiple different YT channels and it seems the best you can expect it to do is follow a brisk walk. I believe it uses a combination of visual information and the GPS location of the controller to follow.
      Following RC planes would absolutely be the killer app for people like us though. I'd like to be able to put a token RFID chip in my plane and have the drone stay within 20' of it.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, I've been thinking about how this plays out in practice because I intend on using it to get additional views of my RC planes in-flight. I covered a few idea in the video and I'm considering with three methods:
      1) Putting it in motion to keep pace in some fashion with the plane. i.e. What you suggested--Hover, rotate.
      2) Keeping it static and flying the plane in front of the camera. i.e. Park it over the center of the runway at 50', aim it at the threshold and land the plane normally.
      3) Hover at 150' at one corner of the flying area and go for the panoramic view in 4k, then capturing interesting segments in post using digital zoom.
      I got into the app and got familiar with their waypoints implementation which might present some options as well. You can set individual waypoints and a single point of interest. I suspect the POI will remain the focal point of the camera during the waypoint mission.
      Keep checking on the channel. I'll be working on the in-flight footage after I put in some stick time with the drone.
      Take it easy...

    • @RCVideoReviews

      It depends on what you consider requirements and the price you're willing to pay. $399 for the Pro, $591 for the 2 is about a $200 difference. Here is a nice chart showing the capabilities of each: www.firstquadcopter.com/news/zino-pro-vs-zino-2/
      What I know first hand: The Pro has done everything I've asked it to do perfectly well. 4k60 would be the only thing I would really like but none of my other other cameras shoot 4k60 anyway, so it doesn't matter that much.

      That largely depends on how good a drone pilot you are. It doesn’t have any non-GPS based pilot assist options like optical flow or radar. So you’re on your own. In a small indoor space I wouldn’t advise it. If you have some room and are a competent pilot on the sticks, go for it.

    Hi John firstly love your video very informative on the Zino pro, I would like to ask if you could send prop protectors to Australia, I will pay whatever it costs thankyou.

      Thanks for taking the time to comment Joseph. Can I suggest seeing if you can find a local printer off of thingiverse.com? It would probably be cheaper and faster for you to do that.

      @@RCVideoReviews Thankyou for your reply I had a look and it will cost me hundreds for a printer, will wait to see if the come available off Banggood or other s.

      @@josephburrows3711 I just checked on Thingiverse. There used to be an option to "have this printed" from a local source. It appears that option is no longer available.
      Those prop clips will likely not show up on Banggood because I posted them as non-commercial.
      My intention was to encourage you to find a local 3D printing resource rather than have me send you $2.00 worth of plastic for $40 in shipping.
      Can you find anybody local to you with a 3D printer? If you can, they can download the prop clip STL files here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:4036111 and print them for you in about 20 minutes.

    hi, great vid does this shoot raw stills?

      Hi Gary, The only camera options I see are iso, exposure, shutter, saturation, contrast, sharpness, and grid lines. I don’t see any options to manipulate format.

      Gary Ward I’ve never had a reason to use raw format. So I’m curious, what does raw let you do that you can’t do with say a jpg? Honest question, I really don’t know. Is it uncompressed?

      @@RCVideoReviews yeh just a larger file more flat out of camera but with much more information and allows a lot better editing, more shadow revovery etc and detail, its enough to make me not buy it put it that way! you can do a lot more with a raw image especially in challenging light.

      Gary Ward interesting. Other than family photos and some static shots for the channel, I don’t dabble much in static images. So I’ve never paid much attention to the raw format question that comes up so often. Are you finding any success with these consumer grade drones finding raw format in the sub $600 price point?

      I made my own pigtails: ruclips.net/video/Uryp7DonsrM/видео.html Connecting to a standard charger using those pigtails and I've safely charged at 1.5a which is roughly .5c, so on my charger, about 1 hour. On the little hockey puck they give you with the drone, if memory serves, it takes about 2.5 hours which is why I made my own pigtails.
