  • Hubsan is cutting corners, not fully testing these units and the battery charger got real cheap in this new model!
    This mainly is a little view of what I found in my unboxing of the Hubsan Zino 2 Plus / Zino 2+ which I call a unboxing fail.
    Also! More information regarding the batteries. Do the Zino 2 batteries work in the Zino 2 Plus? Do the Zino 2 Plus batteries work in the Zino 2?
    Did Hubsan give us a plus yet make it cheaper charging us more? This is the start of that series so stay tuned for more to follow as this company repeats history it seems.
    The Hubsan Zino, Hubsan Zino Pro, Hubsan Zino Pro Plus, Hubsan Zino 2 and this Hubsan Zino 2 Plus are not terrible quads. They have so much potential but Hubsan is a train wreck of a company in making a good product actually work. It's a 50/50 when you buy one of these.

    It's pretty easy to put the puzzle pieces together here... Hubsan sold a unbound quad which means it was most likely untested or a different controller was added to the set after testing. The seller didn't know any better and sold it, the customer couldn't bind it or use it so they returned it and then the seller became guilty by selling it a second time to me. That is how this all looks based on what I see but no worries I will fix it and share my findings. Sending me a dud is a gift! 🙂🙃

      I think it's more likely you got a returned item. Someone bought it, swapped the controller and batteries out for their own, returned it, then it was resold to you. It happens all the time. I deal with a lot of Chinese merchandise on my channel and have had to send a lot of it back to the manufacturer/vendor and have more than once been asked by the vendor to ship the item to the next "sucker" down the line even after informing them that it was defective.
      Amazon is very pro customer. If you tell them you want to send it back, no questions asked here's a label. If you tell them it's broken, no questions asked here's another one.
      Lots of sympathy, too...I spend the entire time I'm filming desperately trying not to cough...

    I once received an RC truck from Amazon that literally was in TWO pieces, front and rear hanging on only by the wires. The thing had to be driven full speed into a concrete wall to sustain that amount of damage. The person sent it back and it was returned to stock, unexamined (I hope) and sold as new...about 5-10% of my Amazon purchases are either used, defective, missing a part, and/or sans directions. When you call Amazon customer service, make it during the day, as evening/night calls are sent to overseas call centers, who either do not have the authority or are unwilling to go the extra mile...I'm sure how much they give affects their retaining their Amazon contract. Thank you for your channel and your standards...I hope you're 100% again soon!

      I rarely have problems with them but this seller has sent me non working goods before. I always use chat if I need to contact Amazon and they have always been fair with me. Never a return issue.

    I had ordered the zino 2 - pre-release promotion - for the good intro deal; then covid hit, all shipments stalled.
    After watching your reviews as well as others, I pulled my order, and decided to wait. Glad I did!
    I 'm now 72years old...why be in a hurry?
    I have always appreciated your candid sharing your opinion on the truth of what you discover + or -.
    Thank you Chris. I'm still trying to decide on which one I will but with all the GAS restrictions now in force.
    BTW, I'm in the 24th day of covid. It's a struggle for sure. Ever so slowly getting better.
    Be patient, this takes a while.

    Sorry to see folks get shoddy product. No excuse for it. I left Hubsan after buying two H501SS drones... good sport flyers, easy-to-mod RC controller. Went with a Fimi X8 and never looked back.

    When the Zino has issues, it can be a pain. When they are working properly, they can be a joy to own and fly.
    These can be a great drone just improve their Quality control. That should be a no brainer

    Just found your vid. Same thing happened to me on a FIMI X8SE 2020 only thing, I didn't go past the unboxing just opened the box NO REMOTE no extra battery parts loose in the box. Wrong color and the one I got was not the combo one I ordered. Amazon made good on the transaction. So thumbs up to them.

    I guess I got lucky. I had placed a pre-order for a Zino 2 with Gear Best in the last few days of December, 2019. It got delayed and delayed some more and finally I asked for a refund. Gear Best refunded my money on May 6. I ordered a Mavic Air 2 from DJI and got it within a few weeks. The Air 2 is more expensive than the Zino 2 but well worth it. Over 200 flights and zero problems.

    Seller not Zino. I always buy from Amazon for just this reason, returns are no issue. Several other RUclipsrs like Captain drone gave this a great review as others. I bought on the Captains review as he is professional and very knowledgeable. I have had zero issues with it. The camera is much better with help from Sony. This and the Fimi 2020 are very close in price, but the Zino videos and pictures are better.

    Yeah that sucks. It's always something when dealing with a Hubsan Quad. I only have one, but I learned very quickly. I'm glad Amazon took care of that.

      I've bought several drones from JYZ drone and their service has been second to none. I think you have had a customer return posted to you by mistake. Did you even contact them for a replacement?

      @@bruumfondle they don’t and haven’t responded. Others in reviews claim no response either.
      Mifly Drone is the best seller on Amazon in my opinion and experience. No fly more stock when I was ordering caused me to choose JYZ which apparently they didn’t have stock either. 😂

    Thank you for posting this. Over priced failure. similar to others. you are one of the few that are very honest. I seen these tested, not that great for the price. I found few of these sellers will not stand behind their crap including a 30 day return policy.

    I have a new Zino 2+ fresh out of the box and I can’t get it to work either. It won’t “boot up” nor communicate between the app, phone, controller, and aircraft. It’s frustrating.

    Same problems. Got one from JYZdrone. They sent me the wrong product with 1 battery and no bag. The camera was defective out of the box. Returned it the same day and got a another one from RCdrone. I have yet to fly it....Fingers crossed. If there are any issues, I am returning it and getting DJI Mavic Air 2.

    After having my Zino for a year, it has finally crashed. The motors just stopped and it fell out of the sky. The camera broke off and I’m not sure if it’s worth trying to fix- I’m not very good at fixing things like that. Anyway, it happened on my bday of all days! 😜

      As I indicated...Hubsan made the clunker, didn't bind or test it, someone bought it, returned it for these reasons most likely and then the seller resold it. Both parties screwed this one up!

      Agreed. Original purchaser had issue with the quad and returned it, thus resolved. Amazon seller re-selling the defective quad as new is unethical and the blame falls squarely on the seller, JYZ.

    Used my original Zino battery for about a year and it naturally loses capacity so decided to get a new battery from Amazon. The “new” battery came from JYZ Drone and it gave me less flight time than my year old battery! Clearly they are passing off old or used items as new.

      I review and inform people. Hubsan has always fascinated me with their business approach and how they take something so easy and almost try to ruin it. I don't hate them or their quads but I certainly won't praise them. They are good when they deliver but they are terrible when they let these slip through and honestly it is too many.

    Jyz drone messed up my order for the hubsan h501s x4 white with the standard controller, they sent the drone but no controller, they did quickly send the controller free.
    I also have the hubsan h501s x4 black with pro controller.

    First of all I hope u are feeling better, I actually had an experience with Amazon but I ordered a zino pro it was used but supposed to be in good condition. Came with no battery and I had to buy a battery but it would not bind to the controller I tried everything including putting my phone in developer mode . After a week or 2 I sent it back. I went and filed a claim told them it was defective I sent it back and ordered another one they upgraded me to the 2 battery and shoulder bag I simply love Amazon... best return policy by far ..

    Having used a Zino 2+ for quite a few weeks now, I am extremely pleased with the price and the product, and I sincerely think that someone at Hubsan is trying to sabotage your channel on purpose: For sure, the Firmware hasn't been solid - I am counting at least a couple of updates thus far, but other than that this is a bloody good drone, price considered! Every other RUclipsr (and their dog) out there got a working, fully functional specimen. I don't believe in strange coincidences, and I don't believe someone, anyone, will be indifferent enough to send a brick to a well recognised RUclipsr. Some other forces are acting here...
    The batteries charge in series and not simultaneously. Every battery needs approximately 2A, at 12.3V.

      How would this sabotage my channel? This is right up my ally and what I do so they sent me a gift in their being sloppy and lazy as usual. I could order 10 of these and come close to a 50/50 defect versus working product with how they send these out. Always play the lottery after you get a perfect zino from Hubsan because luck is on your side buddy!

      I'm told that I can't and it's from a good source but I am a have to see for myself first hand guy so I'll try anyhow even if it's going to be a fail. At least then I can say why and show it if need be. I always like to back up what I say or do as much as possible when I can. TBC :)

    Thanks for the video. I had similar experience with JYZ drone through Amazon , I bought Hubsan Zino 2+ with two batteries and bag instead I got basic version and which was promptly returned back.
    I presume Zino 2 + also suffers with sun flare issue that you pointed out in your earlier Zino 2 reviews . I guess that is the reason why Hubsan is including ND filters in 2 battery package. I an not sure if included filters will mitigate sun flare issues . I will be eagerly waiting for you video. Anyways get well soon.

    O champion, how strange that situation, an error occurred to me once. They sent the drone with the wrong control (cheaper model) and asked for the return of the difference between the price of the controls on the day of purchase.

    Looks to me too that a returned quad has been repackaged and send out again by that (very sneaky) Amazon seller; no fault of Hubsan there. The quad NOT working might be a Hubsan problem, or something the original buyer did. Good to hear that Amazon stepped up, and is sending you a new one (a proper NEW one I hope).
    But what's up with your video? Installed some disco-lights or what? WB was way off.

      Why was it returned? There's your fault to Hubsan and after taking it apart I am finding that I can make that statement. My getting the return is totally the sellers or Amazons fault and good thing is Amazon takes care of you.
      I said right off the bat my colors were off but if you know me that isn't something I care about as long as you can see and hear the content. I feel like shit somedays and just wanted to get it done and published. Thanks

    Apparently you did not see my post in Hubsan QC, Help & Support on August 12 this year where I disassembled and tested a Z2 battery that John Carroll sent to me for that purpose. Z2 batteries are smart batteries with a built-in balance charger and a discharge circuit. There is no access to the cell taps to use a hobby charger like Z1 batteries.

      Yes David I saw and you know I did. However I agree to disagree with you on it being a smart battery. It knows a little like the 100 engineers at Hubsan.
      I think you take some comments too literal but I repeat more clearly it is not a smart battery in the traditional smart battery we are use to.
      It balances yes even though it doesn’t match what the meter says in the app.
      It charges with a power supply + - where the balancing is done internally by the battery and it doesn’t discharge to a safe storage rate or close. It will hold a full charge for way to long before it starts to barely trickle like a normal lipo does which will not prevent damage but invite it. All things I already said but not clear or defined enough.
      The only thing I missed from your science project in the group was that it won’t work to make up a balance rig for it to be used on a hobby charger.

      @@QCGUY I should plug the discharge PCB back into the battery and do a bit more checking.
      You like to tinker so you should open a battery and see if you can add an external connector.

    TOTALLY agree with your sentiment about complaining to Amazon when you have unscrupulous sellers (like JYZ drone) who are willing to sell used products as new products...If people don't give them a 1 star rating, write a scathing review AND complain to Amazon then these companies will continue to ripoff other customers. The good news is that Amazon is going to take care of you! Looking forward to seeing your Zino 2+ videos. I'm sure your cough is annoying for you but honestly it didn't take away from your video. Hope you shake that Covid stuff. Cheers.

      Hey thanks man! The cough is super annoying and I hate to have it in videos. A little gross for some I think... I cut it out in editing but sometimes like this video I just said screw it and the color quality etc and and roll on. I have been very aggressive with Amazon on this case because of some things that followed with this seller here on my channel in the comments so Amazon is looking into them and some sort of action will take place I think.

    Chris, the Zino2 batteries aren't interchangeable, the zino 2+ knows the difference somehow. I suspect there may actually be some smart battery functionality even if it isn't 100% smart.

      It’s chipped to be detected by firmware. Stupid since it’s the same exact battery makeup.

    Over the years I have sold off or traded various rc products... Usually when I could no longer get support or batteries (Like my Bebops). The Zino was the first one that I sold while it was still in a production run... It was never crashed but there was always something a little glitchy every flight and other than perfect conditions the 1080p on the Spark and the Bebop2 was just much better than the Zino 4k. To me for the same average price range the Mini was just much better now with the Mini 2 out I just find it hard to understand why anyone would risk money on the Zino........Just my opinion I know there are folks out there who love it but for me.......

    Good evening, Congratulations on the video. I have a white elephant to solve ... It comprises a hubsan Zino pro + plus drone ... On BANGGOOD But it arrived inside the control box of the hubsan zino pro + plus hubsan zino pro + plus battery .... But the drone is the HUBSAN ZINO PRO ... I downloaded the X-Hubsan 2 app and I am not able to connect the drone with the app to be divergent ... Hubsan zino pro + plus control with hubsan zino pro drone .... Are the controls for hubsan zino pro + plus and hubsan zino pro the same? DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS TO HELP ME PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏 The drone arrived in early August so far I'm not able to resolve this with BANGGOOD that is not giving me a solution nor a concrete answer. THANKS FOR LISTENING

    Hello Mr QC Guy,
    I have bought Zino 2+ two days ago. First time connected the drone and controller with my phone. The app showed I need to activate it so I activated with my Gmail and phone number. After that, the app showed fpv display but camera is not working. It is only showing blank display. So we did firmware update, but still the camera display is blank. Camera gimbal and other functions work properly. 2 signal lights beside MicroSD card slot show red and green light individually. And no error message. We tested both with and without MicroSD card (128 sandisk class 10 u3 160mbps / 90mbps)
    Any suggestion Mr QC Guy?

    Did you ever have a problem with charging the remote it says low battery and I thought it only takes 2 hours to charge can you overcharge the remote

      Only once...
      It charged all day and never topped off. I just kept using it and recharging it each time and it was fine.

    First off thank you for all of your videos on RUclips Chris question is I have a Zino 2 plus and I have two batteries from a Zino 2 and I'm trying to get them to work but I get a message on my phone that says battery is not recognized and Drone will not fly the battery levels everything works except for Motors will not engage can you help me?       It’s coded to recognize the new battery and won’t let you use the old. Stupid! Stupid! Move Hubsan.....exactly the same battery in every way but hey let’s do something that makes zero since and block everyone from using the other battery.

    I think I'll still stick with my Zino Pro.
    Since they released the Z2 it seems everything in Hubsan started to go more or less haywire. Almost like the new ones are in BETA state, release hope and pray.

    I have a feeling someone bought a 2nd quad and returned it with a battery that appears to have been damaged with a crash and switched out the remotes to keep a newer one. The seller then check the contents and resells it if the lights turn on. Bad business practice on the seller who apparently just wanted to secure a sale. Amazon will usually stand by their customers.

    Hello everyone, they sent me a Zino Pro Plus damaged error 0x2000 and now they want to send me the gimbal so that I can do the repair, it is not at all what a responsible company would do. I think the teams are good, but the quality controls of this company do not work, in addition to this they do not respond to the emails in time, unfortunate.

    I am a new drone pilot still learning to fly. Hubsan ZINO 2. Used for 100USD. It is okay. I like it.
    However it seems like my mobile is stealing battery power from the remote controller?
    How can I stop that?
    And the batteries in the drone is very expensive, I try to find used ones but have not succeeded.

      Your mobile device will bring up the charging state icon but you are not actually charging it or losing power from the controller so don’t worry about it. 👍🏻

      It’s the Zino 2 on the wall. I made a balance lead for the Zino and Zino Pro long ago. They sell them now so you can purchase them.
      I’m going to make one for the Zino 2 and 2+

      @@revparsons3tl My first Zino 1 had typical new rollout model glitches but nothing big. I was disappointed in what Hubsan delivered with that new model. Zino Pro was my perfect one out of them all so I expected better with the Zino 2 but had issues with that as well. Now I take into account what I also see with others in my group and the official Hubsan group along with owners on my channel where I see the same consistent things. I can make a pretty accurate account of what to expect with every model etc..

    recently bought zino2plus and got a few flights out of it, but when asked to upgrade i just couldnt, it look like it gets stucked on the process and just dont upgrade. Seen the tutorial, dowloand app for software, etc. Hubsan just suckksss

      @@QCGUY now the sd card slot wont hold the sd, FPV/gimball does not work or at least it wont display anything on the cel screen, I though it was a download filmware issue but know I think its a lot more. Im trying to get a refund or something with Hubsan support, not sure how its all going to play. Like you said it just keeps getting worse and worse.

      I really want to say the Zino 2+ because I do like it but it's a hard choice. FIMI has the gimbal issue and the camera presets are very weak. If she is good at doing manual camera setting the FIMI is great all but the darn gimbal tilt issue.

      That's unfair on JYZ, if you went to a restaurant and someone had taken a bite out of your steak, would you post about it on you tube before sending it back? I dont think so. If you buy an item and its faulty, you have statutory right to return or be refunded. Just give the company a chance to rectify it!

    You called this when you ordered it!! haha permission to laugh weeks from now when you finally get it running and it toilet bowls and flies away? I have really bad luck with Hubsan haha they shipped me sawed up parts I didnt even order, so far Ive had 4 shipments of random stuff and one rebuilt drone

      Toilet bowls are preventable and caused by magnetic declination which is a interference issue. A compass calibration done wrong can cause them as well but I have never had one with a Zino so not likely I will.
      I am not surprised by your story based on how many times I’ve heard it from others. It amazes me how these things continue happening.

Magnetic North is 25 to 30 degrees off True North in the Northeast here :p I purchased a really nice handheld compass for the drone and was utterly dismayed when it pointed a completely different direction lol To make matters more interesting, on the flight maps near me there are magnetic anomalies marked which look like little mountains ^^^

      @@badpaw I don’t know where you are but different locations will effect the compass differently. Africa and Brazil are to that actually should have their own firmware for the compass alone. Just like some areas are also prone to high kp index.
      These aren’t high end quads here that are much better to calibrate and work in the areas of change so there’s several things but I named the biggest we see which is poor calibrations.
      FYI... no permission to laugh because I fixed it , it ran perfectly, I got a second one that was never tampered with and my last toilet bowl was my first back in 2017 on a Hubsan 501S.

      zino 2+ just came in today 6.3.21 , charging the 2 batteries and remote now. What Next steps? download app and software update? do I need to connect it to a laptop?

      Don't update it. Fly it as is from the factory and see if you have any problems. If you don't, leave it be. Updating firmware can actually cause problems from what I've read.

      Replace the camera/gimbal cable. I have videos on it.... Very common and could be your problem.

      there is 2 styles now because zino 2 plus is different. You want what they call old style last 2 numbers 04 not the new style 07.

I am a veterinarian and I want a drone as a hobby to see good videos and photos of the field. I want to know which of the two drones is more complete in technology, no matter the weight in grams.

      Both....Hubsan sent a unit unbound which means it is untested. The seller didn't know any better when selling it but taking a return and reselling it the seller became at fault as well. That how this all looks anyhow. It's pretty easy to put the story together.

      @@QCGUY this kinda scared me. I had a Zino 2 which met an untimely death and have been trying to decide between a Zino 2+ or DJI Air 2. My one service related issue with my Zino 2 was completely ignored. Couldn't even find a phone number. But otherwise was pretty happy with the drone itself once I got the gimbal issue resolved. But with that experience plus what you've reported today...looks like I'm jus st going to spend a couple hundred extra bucks and go with DJI
