Babay or Babai (Russian: Бабай) is a night spirit (Bogeyman) in Slavic folklore. According to beliefs, he abducts children who do not sleep at night or behave badly.[1] He is also called Babayka (Russian: Бабайка), Babayko (Ukrainian: Бабайко) or Bobo (Babok, Bebok) (Polish), although the term may also be applied to his female equivalent.[2]

The whole movie gave us new and better things compared to the first part in terms of action scenes, fights, and variety. It introduced a very dangerous villain who made us feel that John Wick was in more danger than with the villain from the first part. It also expanded our knowledge of this intriguing world and provided a good foundation for the upcoming parts of the story. Yet, you still say the movie didn’t offer anything new in terms of the plot, and that you're not interested in the rest of the events. Honestly, I don’t know what more you wanted to see.

He rolls his eyes everytime anyone calls John Baba Yaga and thinks the Benelli is a pump and that the 1911 he got "absolutely holds more than 7. BuT ok" he talks way to much for how silly the things he says make him seem. I have no idea what they could've wanted more from this movie because if they got it then they'd say it's unrealistic and they got pulled out of it but then when they get this movie which a lot of people call their favorite it's bland and doesn't add "anything"

She was expecting another wtf moment like the puppy death scene in the first one and that’s just not what this franchise is about. Rules are now broken and you’re about to find out what that means in the next film. It’s so sad that Kristen missed the depth of this movie I understand it can be easy for people to miss but there is so much underlying story in these movies and it goes over peoples heads a lot. The John Wick franchise is the perfect example of show me don’t tell me and people ask for that all the time but the second they’re not told people tend to miss the fine details then say the story was bad it’s so unfortunate, but I respect the opinion. It’s just that what you want is there and you failed to pick up on it. Also Michael a 1911 does hold 7 rounds if it’s in 45 ACP which they stated it was, a benelli M4 is a semi automatic shotgun not a pump action, and for God sakes man lol Baba Yaga is also known as the boogeyman. Babayka from Slavic origin down the road turned into the Russian translation of babayaga and babayka is the boogeyman. Lastly to be clear the boogeyman is referred to as many mythical creatures because the boogeyman is just a monster than comes and takes people away in the night it is not a specific creature itself.
I just want to be clear on this. I’m not pressed about how Kristen or Michael feel about the movie that’s completely within their right and also it’s a first watch and an instant review sometimes those can be hard to do if you missed things so no judgement on my part I just wanted to clarify some things.

Yeah but half the reason the first movie was as successful as it was, was because of the accuracy and realism of it. People were freaking out about the reloading, bullet counting, actual hand to hand combat, etc. They tried to one up all of that in this one (which I agree with you, the action is top tier) but they loose a lot of the small details/magic that the first one had. Also the story in the first one is so easy for almost anyone to relate to. This one's story doesnt really touch your heart or make you emotional. While i personally really like this movie, from a movie reviewers perspective this one does pale a LOT in comparison to the original.

"Lacked storyline" I believe was an early response. Not giving yourself time to digest what you saw.
First off, the original was meant to be a stand alone project. The concept of sequels was not considered until they saw the response to the first movie.
They wrapped up a loose end from the first movie, and then quickly shuffled into a new plot line.
The introduction of the Italian sect of this underworld brought with it a new facet of this underworld. The Marker, which brought the introduction of the High Table.
We learn that John owes dues from hus past and must kill a " Friend against his will. One thing you missed from the museum that Samtono was in. There was a display of 12 marble statues (6 lined up on either side of the soom) watching 2 statues fight in the middle of the room. Symbolic of the 12 seats at the high table.
John then travels to Rome. Has an incredibly stylish montage of his dealings at the Continental. Then it's off to perform the hit.
You are introduced to and filled in quickly of the significance of the "target". She is ruthless and powerful, yet sophisticated and feminine. I like to believe that bit of conversation before she passes about damnation... she said she feared damnation. I believe John shot her to save her soul. She's Italian. Obviously catholic. If she had died by her own hand, she'd be damned.
And this is just half the movie. You still have the Santino double cross. The Cassian arc of a story. The Bowry King. Not to mention all the memorable action. The pencil. The Sumo guy. The violinist who shot him twice point blank range. The absolute devastating castration at the train station. The dog. The BALLER FLEX by Winston stopping 200 people to focus on John.
I hope in reflection that you will see you actually liked the movie a lot. Yes, I saw you bored during some of the extended action scenes, but you, much like John, have to endure the trip to get to the meat and potatos of what's going on.

Kristen has a particular taste in movies that I think most folks would question. Weeping at Armageddon a truly absurd movie of oil rig drillers landing on a comet. I mean watch her X-Men reactions. Two of the moves she's enjoyed the least are the best movies, Logan and Deadpool. The Logan reaction in particular is odd, because it's clearly not what she wanted from an X-Men movie, and that's why she was cool to it even when acknowledging it's strengths. She wanted some sort of storyline she's describing here, while ignoring the world building that takes place in this movie, and this movie's emphasis on comedy. The comedy establishes the tone of this movie. There are emotional elements motivating the characters, but we're here for a good time. If martial arts and "gun fu" isn't your thing, that's cool. But do not hold action moives outside of your lane to standards you don't hold things like Armageddon to.

She called out loud how she really liked the rules of the Continental. She thought the scene when all the assassins were coming after Keanu was cool. Basically, Chris likes the entire film from front to back and laughs at every part of the film she was supposed to. John killing Santino in The Continental was really his only choice. Santino was taking over New York, he could've very well taken over The Continental as well and had John's membership revoked anyway. Killing Santino stopped the New York takeover, John got his revenge, he kept his end of the deal that he made with Laurence Fishburn's character to end the war before it affected his people and the only thing that it changed for John was that he doesn't have a sanctuary anymore. Because if Santino was still alive and John left the hotel Santino's $7 million was still on his head, so assassins are going to come after him anyway.

The suits cost about $50,000 for one capable of stopping rifle rounds (Threat level IV). Trained soldiers or operatives would never attack in more than 5 together so you can't kill then all together in full auto fire or explosives. Professional killers usually work in 3 to 5 men teams even if you have 100s. If not one grenade would kill them all. John's riffle is capable of full auto but because they are small groups he has to fire in small burst of 1 to 3 shots to kill them and not run out of ammo. 77 kills on JW1, 128 kills in JW 2, 94 kills in JW 3 and, 140 kills in JW4 439 total all films.

Diantonio told him were all was so he could kill all and get out (special task, first movie). He gave Diantonio the marker for that, and when Diantonio wants him to make good on the marker he must do it!

Totally disagree with Kristen’s opinion. The best part of JWII is that the world is expanded. It’s a fight movie that’s fashioned like a video game. You get what you get. Also, don’t understand people who are more upset about dogs dying over humans.

"it was more of the same as the first one", then you better prepare for part 3, cause the title literally translates to "prepare for war"

Isn’t the boogeyman just a general terrifying being? The baba yaga being a witch in folktale is right, but you don’t have to roll your eyes every time they call him that 😂

I'm not sure what you were expecting, Kristen. These movies are very upfront about what they are and what you're getting. However, you're not alone in your feelings about this film. A lot of people consider this one to be the weakest of the franchise. I personally don't share that sentiment, but that's me.

It was explained in the first movie that John Wick was called Baba Yaga but he was actually the one who killed it, but still in their world, John is called "Baba Yaga" even tho it means "Witch" That's why the man with the beard said "Baba Yaga". 😑

Fun trivia, Keanu does pretty much all the stunt driving while shooting. The trainer even said that it was scary how good he was at shooting targets while stunt driving. 😤

Little fun fact Keanu Reeves and Peter stormare who is the bad guy in the beginning of the movie they have acted against each other before in Constantine so you know when Satan himself is scared of John Wick you know that's not a good sign 😂
