Today we're watching retired super-assassin and Baba Yaga John Wick in "John Wick: Chapter 2". (!!! SPOILER ALERT !!! )Our favorite slick suit wearing, dog-loving hitman, John Wick, is back. He's off to Rome - not for a vacation, but to crash a family reunion and split some wigs along the way. Think sightseeing with bullets and spatter.
A whacked out criminal boss wants his sister dead, and who better to do it than the dude who once took out a room full of goons with a pencil? Of course, in the world of John Wick, no good deed goes unpunished. John ends up with a $7 million bounty on his head, fighting off every assassin with a death wish. Then it gets crazier... John breaks the ultimate assassin rule, leading to an excommunication that makes the next sequel inevitable. Strap in bud... it's gonna get nuts...

The German gun manufacturer is Heckler and Koch, and Keanu did something called a “press check”. It’s meant to see if the round fully seeded in the chamber
Oh you guys are watching these with the subtitles off? I didn't even know that was an option, the John Wick subtitles are stylized and they often play a part in the scenes. That's how they were in the theatres and in the digital releases, the regular subtitles are optional on digital but the stylized ones stay. The sign language in the bar she says "I'll be seeing you" and John replies "Not if I see you first."
3 and 4 have even more foreign languages and cool subtitle tricks, I would get the copies with them.
This whole franchise is an anime and it doesn't become clear until the last movie which one it is.

Little trivia for you. Vito’s brother that toasted for peace is also the devil in Constantine. 😁
Also played a Russian astronaut in the movie Armageddon.

So the coins, the director stated that the coins are a "favor". They are this worlds universal currency, a coin for a thing or action. In the first movie John uses then for the room at the hotel, to get through the door to the bar, to have his colleague watch Perkins, and for the cleaners. The third movie goes into it a bit more. Note: In the first movie Vigo had a rack of 50 or so in his safe, John had a ton more in his stash.

@@mikeyshowpresents Thoroughly enjoyed the reaction, can’t wait for Chapter 3 and 4. And the way I see how it played out at The Continental between John and Santino is actually kind of symbolic, cause if you think about it John just really wanted to be left alone and Santino dragged him back in, and made it worse with the bounty, so once John cornered Santino yes he knew the rules but John was past his breaking point no longer caring, hence John saying “finished it”

Btw if you've ever played the PayDay video games, you can find the masks of the playable characters behind the violin player on posters. After John Wick 1 came out the creators of the game reaches out for a collab and now John Wick is an official character in the game, the first game to use him. So they shouted the game back out here, and a lot of the shots and action in this movie were video game coded.

Each movie outdoes the previous and this is the only franchise i know that successfully does that. Nothing can top john wick the whole universe gets so rich and deep and emotional. Top shelf story telling.

Chapter 3 & 4 oh man it's going to be Epic as hell
Mike, after he shot off the 7 he threw the gun at a guys head and grabbed his gun.
What I understood from the suicide attempt was that she did it because she didn't want to make john kill a friend and why john shot her at the end was because of her religious beliefs and to prevent a technicality of not having fulfilled his marker.
This. John is Catholic and under the laws of the church if Gianna died by her own hand she'd be damned to Hell. By finishing her, he preserved her soul.

It's actually a '69 Boss 429. Also available in 1970.
The '69 Mustang Mach 1 did NOT have a V6 it had a Cleveland 351 V8. But more importantly John Wicks car was a '69 BOSS 429 which absolutely did not have a V6 lol it had a 429 cubic inch V8 hence the name "BOSS 429" I'm a Mustang enthusiast who owns multiple classic Mustangs including the model you named off as well as the model in this movie (although my BOSS 429 is red with black racing stripes)

He got the Chevelle from the chop shop, John Leguizamo's character. He got the Dodge Charger from the Continental.
The Continental hotels are a character in itself in this world. The hotel serves as a safe haven for assassins(hence the no killing rule), an access point for all assassins needs (information, weapons, armor, medical assistance and safe transportation. They also serve as command and control centers for the High Table. (Especially when the contract is opened)

These guys are easily my favourite, and the the best reactors in the business.
The car in the opening is not from the Continental, it is from the guy Orelio at the chop shop. The continental gave him a brand new Charger that got wrecked at the end of the first movie.
The shotgun is a Benelli M4 using 12-gauge solid steel slugs (armor piercing). The rifle before that was an modified AR variant with steel receiver instead of aluminum for less chance of failure in high fire combat situations, chambered in 7.62.
Something that a lot of people forget is that shotguns are wider bore than most rifles. The three most common gauges for shotguns: 20 gauge = .615 caliber, 16 gauge = .67 caliber, and 12 gauge = .73 caliber. The less common but sometimes still found 10 gauge = .775 caliber. 28 gauge = .55 caliber. And the "kiddie shotgun" that most of us first learned with, the .410 = .41 caliber.
Santino used an ARWEN 37 less-lethal 37 mm launcher using incendiary grenades. The rounds fired would burn the house down, but the concussion blast is exaggerated for effect in movie, unless it ignited a gas line in initial magnesium burst.

In terms of the gold coins, you should watch The Continental miniseries (3 episodes) - it's basically Winston's origin story.
But if you're going to wait 4 months between each release.. John Wicks car will be ready before you get to it 😂😂😂
The suits cost about $50,000 for one capable of stopping rifle rounds (Threat level IV). Trained soldiers or operatives would never attack in more than 5 together so you can't kill then all together in full auto fire or explosives. Professional killers usually work in 3 to 5 men teams even if you have 100s. If not one grenade would kill them all. John's riffle is capable of full auto but because they are small groups he has to fire in small burst of 1 to 3 shots to kill them and not run out of ammo. 77 kills on JW1, 128 kills in JW 2, 94 kills in JW 3 and, 140 kills in JW4 439 total all films.
The coins are explained later as a social contract, not real currency. Others have already explained the cars. When he grabs the magazine and reloads, he isn't chambering a round, he is doing a press check to be sure a round is in battery.
The actor who plays Charon sadly passed away and he was one of my favorite characters. I adopted an American Staffordshire terrier (pittie) and named him Charon in memory of him.
Not sure what versions you guys watch. Because the theatrical versions have in very specific stylized. Captions, what the other languages are saying as well as the sign language.

Chad Stahelski (director) said in an interview that he envisioned the gold coins as the "price of entry" across a broad spectrum in Wickworld. They can be used as payment for any number of goods and services within the realm of assassins.

I'm also from the school of not really being into blockbuster movies and I've not been the biggest fan of Keanu Reeves. But..... But then a friend convinced me to watch John Wick. The amount of attention to detail and epic storytelling is next to none. All 4 are, in my opinion, progressively better. Love your reaction and hope you guys watch 3 and 4 so I can enjoy them with you.

The Chevelle SS was not given by the hotel that was a black Charger destroyed in fight with Vigo. The Chevelle he got from chop shop when found out who stole it
Im not sure if it the Chevelle SS, but one car was specificaly requested by Joe Rogan. In his podcast with Stahelski they talked about the cars the use and Rogan said "u gotta have that one in it" and Stahelski loved it and put it in. Not sure if its the Chevelle SS or some other car they used. I reccomend watching that podcast, amazing episode. They talked about a lot of stuff from the movies. *Edit Just remembered Rogan reccomended 71' Barracuda from movie No.4 and Stahelski called Rogan directly for a recommendation 😆

The '70 SS Chevelle came from the chop shop. As for replacing the Boss 429, "that" car was "their" car. You might recall that Helen mentioned that the car wasn't enough to love when she gifted him the puppy.

I think the Continental in Rome is just a local branch of the Continental franchise hotels, not for the entire Europe. Not sure your copy of this film showed this, but the Italian manager asked Wick if Wick was going to kill the Pope. Wick answered no.
The car is credited as being a Boss 429, but the car(s) used are actually 1969 Mustang Mach 1's. I'm no big car expert but they must be very similar in design 🙂
They are, but the Mach 1 was much more common. A few cosmetic changes, a little sound effects work, and bam! Instant Boss 429...
looks a lot like Steve McQueen's Mustang from Bullit. I guess that is what they are refering to all along, i'n' it?

1969 Mustang Boss 429. They literally told you in the first movie during the gas station scene.
Many people have counted up the number of people killed by John Wick in all the movies combined... but has anyone ever gone through and counted how many different WAYS people are killed by John Wick?

The German firearms the sommelier was referring to would be H&K, but the name is Heckler & Koch. The Austrian firearms were Glock. The Benelli M4 is arguably the best semi-automatic shotgun anyone can get. For a little fun fact, the company Beneli is actually owned by Beretta, and both Beneli and Beretta are Italian based companies. As a firearms lover myself, I agree with you that the filmmakers did a great job making sure the firearms were portrayed accurately. Aside from perpetuating the false idea that a suppressor makes a gun sound like a whisper, such as in the subway shooting scene...a suppressed firearm is still roughly as loud as a jackhammer, very loud but not quite loud enough to permanently damage our hearing.

I think the first season is already out but they made a show called The Continental from the John wick universe, I think it’s supposed to be a backstory for Winston, I’m not sure because I haven’t seen it yet. And if I recall correctly their was supposed to be a movie(I think) called The Ballerina also set in the John wick universe. I don’t remember if I read that it got canceled or delayed, needs further looking into.
Walther is another German gun manufacturer. They make James Bond's gun, the PPK.
As a gun guy and 2A advocate yes Glock is a really good brand, they make some of the most reliable firearms in the world. And the Benelli is a 12 gauge semi-auto tactical shotgun (an assault rifle by legal definition has to be capable of firing fully automatic)

Each one of those coins represents a completed assignment for the High Table. It comes with a guarantee that the services rendered will be completed to the clients satisfaction and their security. That he has brief cases full of coins tells you that John Wick was much in demand. 😮
