Crazy story, Henry Cavil tested the glasses theory. He stood in some square, wearing glasses,UNDER a picture of him as Superman, and folks didn’t recognize that he played Superman
The glasses thing isn't what did it. He could've done it without...and everyone would've ignored him because it's too obvious. "That's not Henry Cavill. What the fuck would he be doing standing around wearing a Superman shirt here? That's just stupid. It's some fanboy trying to get attention with some cosplay." When something doesn't fit...the human brain just ignores or imagines shit until whatever it is "fits" or stops mattering.
@@DoremiFasolatido1979 Same thing man.. Same thing......... Nobody expects a powerful strong Macho Superman to be a normal goofyass reporter who writes about himself in Daily Planet............. Even if he pretends he is Superman, people will say the same thing you said....."Oh he is just a fanboy trying to get attention"........
You're overlooking the fact Zod was created to think like that because of the role of a military soldier that he was given. They explained it earlier in the film.
I think your main problem with this movie is because they're already assuming that everyone knows Superman's story, so they leave gaps where most people already know things.
@@breezy3392 Yeah it should make 50 movies to build up character like MCU.. isn't it? Iron man took 3 movies to make Patty into a potential love interest & here you want a 2:23 minutes movie to build out love interest & depth.
@@popculturejam7600that’s no excuse for why Clark & Lois’s relationship feels so hollow. In Superman (1978) some of best scenes in that film are between Superman & Lois! The relationship between them is just underwritten in man of steel, it also doesn’t help that Henry cavill & amy adams have little to no chemistry.
That is a downside of a Snyder movie. Everything was perfect until it wasn't because of the direction and writing. Storyline was good but movie was not as good.
In real life, absolutely. It’s heartbreaking that he never got the chance to be the Superman that he could have been. The version they wrote for him had everything “super” about him stripped away, just giving him really powerful Regularman.
@@reptomicus He absolutely has the natural charisma for Superman. He’s just never really been able to convey it through his acting. With some acting lessons to help him be more natural in his performances, he would easily nail it.
Alex, the reason they didn't do more on his origin story (particularly his childhood and youth) is because it had already been done, many, many times ... in all the Superman movies and throughout all the seasons of Smallville. You are simply part of the .001% of the earth's population who hadn't seen it. 😅 For many of the rest of us, we already had a ridiculous amount of backstory & "time vested" in all that had come before, so this movie, along with the score, brought back a flood of memories & an emotional wallop with it. (Yes, I just used "wallop" for the first time in my life. Lol.) I will say that the casting of Lois did nothing for me --- like you, I never once believed/felt their connection. Look up Clark's high school love interest in Smallville: Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang. Pretty sure you'd get behind that pairing. Anyhow, thanks for (once again) a great review. I appreciate what you do, brother!
Alex was expecting a Marvel like film, even looked for an end credit scene. This movie doesn't dwell on telling the character's emotions, it's just shown as it is from the perspective of the audience from the outside looking in. There isn't any way to portray Clark's depth the same way Marvel films do because Clark isn't human. No one could possibly relate to Clark because we are all human. How many times was Alex wrong reacting to scenes in this film when it came to Clark's reactions to specific scenes? Mr. Impulsive Alex can't even restrain himself to blurt out dark thoughts and would be more like Homelander than he would be Superman if he had their powers.
It’s not the fact that they glossed over his backstory that I, personally, didn’t like but it was the way they handled Johnathan Kent and how much of a dick he was, especially in contrast with the comics where him and Martha were the best human beings you could possibly be and didn’t raise Clark to be a god who had to fit in with mortals but raised him as a human and to be as kind as them and even encouraged him becoming Superman
@@Yo42169i don't suite agree that movie jonathan raised him to be a god. He thinks that because of his powers one day clark will be able to change the world. But he is afraid that the world will reject him and try to hurt him. So he wants clark to wait until he is an adult before he makes the choice of becoming a hero so that he is fully aware of the consequences of his choice and is strong and smart enough to handle whatever the world will throw at him and thrive. This for sure is not the traditional approach to superman where he is instantly seen as a hero and a symbol of hope. In this one, he has to earn the trust of the world to become their hope. And i believe that with proper time to flesh out this version of the story, it could've been at least good. But then we arrive to my biggest issue with the dceu, the abyssmal and rushed structure to compete with the mcu that doesn't leave room for character development. I would've loved to see this clark try his best to do good, slowly gaining the trust and love of the world, losing this image of a threatful god to become the symbol of hope. I would've loved to see the series of events that led to batman breaking his code. Which again, while not the traditional approach is still a valid way to explore the batman mythology (also the joker should be dead. If batman kills, presumably after joker killed robin, then joker should be the first casualty). But instead they chose to rush things and have the second movie be a poor attempt at civil war, the set of the justice league and the death of superman storyline. All that while clark has barely just became superman and we kno w nothing about these versions of batman and wonder woman
LMAO .001💀 it’s not 1980 dude you’re just old, tons of people don’t watch old shit, like the other superman movies. How is new people being born a new concept for you? That’s actually insane
Man, 'a good death is its own reward' hits hard. It's all about going out with purpose and dignity - no need for applause or a prize, just knowing you stood your ground until the end. I forgot how deep this movie was, but that line makes you think about how you'd want to face your own battles.
I like to think that Homelander is what happens when a human was born with Superman powers. Even Superman wasn't born with Superman powers. He gained his powers as he grew into them as he got older which was shown in the movie as young Clark gets freaked out being able to see through things for the first time.
@@johnnyrocket1685 Homelander simply wins because he is ACTUALLY interesting. Superman can will all day in a fight, still a borefest. Everytime Homelander is on the screen, You can FEEL his presence. Very true incomparable!
It's interesting to compare them, nonetheless. Especially their childhoods. Homelander, presumably, was tortured and manipulated all his life. Supe on the other hand, was loved and cherished, although he was constantly bullied which might have even contributed further to his development and restraint. We even see Supe reading Plato, probably figuring his identity out and morals. Homelander was even given such a chance.
If you ever watch Justice League please watch "Zack Snyder's Justice League" and not "Justice League". I wouldn't say it's particularly amazing but the theatrical release is just stupid.
1. Lois did know that Clark was Kal, she just pretended that she didn't in order to help preserve his secret; 2. The chemistry between Clark (Christopher Reeve) and Lois (Margot Kidder) in the original Superman movie (1978) was far more intense...I recommend it, A LOT !!!
@@_Starhammernot to mention he’s introduced as clark Kent at work which is literally how she met him and ended up at his house and dad’s grave. She literally runs up to his house with the cop yelling “clark! Clark!” Lmao.
As much as I love Smallville, I describe it as a show for people who know nothing about Superman. Mostly because of how long it takes for the basic Superman lore to be explained to Clark. The absolutely perfect cast is what makes that show for me personally. Every single person in that show is the perfect choice for their characters. Plus, the Talkville podcast is really good
33:13 this is what’s wrong, the movie literally explains it but a lot of people don’t understand. That’s basically all of Zack Snyder’s movies because I understand all three and they are fantastic.
I've gotta be honest: Henry Cavill is my favorite cinematic Superman. I'm sorry to Christopher Reeve fans, he WAS good for the 70s and 80s, but Henry is the ideal modern times cinematic Man Of Steel. Plus, the suit looks awesome
@@rainbowpegacornstudios Blame that on writers and director. Also, a billion things that weren't cringey then are seen as such now, that's life, get over it.
Cavill is great. What Reeve did the best was portraying Superman and Clark Kent as two different people. I can believe that people wouldn’t recognize Reeve’s Superman as being Reeve’s Kent. Cavill’s Kent really is just his Superman with glasses on.
I love this movie, I think this is my favorite DCU movie. And I think Lois did recognize him when he started at the newspaper, which is why she smirked and said "Welcome to the Planet" The cast was stacked and all the character deaths were beautiful. Costner's death, both of Crowe's, Stabler's was epic (as was his near death experience in Smallville).
Henry Cavill will always be my Superman. I have some issues with the script, but I think the dude nailed the role he was given better than any who came before him. Crucify me.
What about after him? I think Tyler Heochlin did a fantastic job as Superman and hes got another season coming so who knows how thats gonna be. Disregard the fact he was CWs Superman, given the scripts he was given Tyler fucking killed it. Or going back to Tom Welling, I think he did great as Superman. But we can't forget that each one is different and everyone did the best they could. I just feel bad for how DC treated Henry with it. Because he loves the character and always wanted to do right by the character.
38:42 Alex, you missed it because you just don't know. But in this scene, there's a subtle morph of Henry Cavil's face into Christopher Reeve. Unfortunately you edited it out. To most of us GEN Xers, Reeve is the OG Superman, and it was amazing. The lack of emotional connection to the characters you describe are because you yourself said, you're not familiar with Superman, the origin story, or the mythology. Most of us who grew up before the age of Burton's Batman and the MCU, regardless of how deep we knew the lore, knew at least that much. Superman was the only game in town, and the original 1978 movie was a massive success and cultural phenomenom. So instead of telling a whole new origin story, this movie kinda glanced over some of the facts most of the audience already knew, and got right to the conflict with Zod and the Codex. Just like Superman Returns (2006 Brandon Roth film) skipped past the events of the original Superman movies as well. This movie was good, and I think one of the best DCU movies to date, but it was very much a continuation of the Superman series, not an outright reboot of the franchise.
I blame studio interference and not letting Zack do what he wanted. Ayer also was blocked into making the Suicide Squad the way he wanted. Even Nolan had some issues developing his Batman due to the studio. Wonder Woman and Aquaman, 2 of the most successful movies in the franchise, actually benefited from studio involvement but both were collabs with the studio and even the director for the first Aquaman movie asked for input from Zack directly.
@@abuzzklanica6275 I think some people are blinded by nostalgia, don't get me wrong, the old ones are good. On the same note, of course Man of Steel has flaws, the movie isn't perfect, but it's also a good Superman movie, a good "realistic" approach with a great cast, great acting and great fx. Henry Cavill plays a great Superman, even with the movie script clearly holding him back, not giving him much.
Watching Smallville first would have helped with the depth issue as you meet everyone in depth - as a stand alone movie it's hard to "get" most of what you see - as an example the red head kid is Clark's BFF which you don't get in this iteration ... Great reaction as always! Peace!
Comparing this to Iron Man…a less known superhero at the time it was released, and a better comparison for this film in general. Tony is shown to have a very realistic and understandable character arc All the characters have more depth than most of Man of Steel. And overall the tone and the film was just better and it was shorter than MoS. Needing to watch a TV series from decades ago to understand characters and their motivations is the reason the DCEU has sucked so bad. They try to speed run all these details because they assume you already know the characters but that leaves their films lifeless.
At 13:35 I don’t know what Lobo the Truck Driver was thinking. Even if he didn’t know Clark doesn’t have superpowers. He’s like a half of a foot taller and built like a tank.
I couldn't agree more, as I'm a comic book fan (Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, and CHAOS!). I get that the movie lacked on the more emotional side, but you totally lost out on Zod's character. He was never lying , first of all. He did try to take over Krypton, not for power, but because its leaders _did_ lead them to ruin, they _did_ ignore the problem until it was too late. Zod really did everything for the sake of his people, for the purpose he was _literally built with_ as explained earlier. He doesn't care how cruel, or how sadistic his actions look to others. He will always do whatever it takes to ensure Krypton live's on That emotional breakdown at the end before the final fight was real, he had absolutely nothing left and was going to kill Clark because it was all he could think to do
WOW,7753,that's the best rendition of the character of Zod I've ever read on any comment section regarding this film. WELL SAID.For the very reasons you stated Zod is one of my favorite villians ( him and Thanos ) he was driven mad at the destruction of Krypton, then totally obsessed with it's recreation which I understand. But,Zod could've done this on any other planet in our solar system and we'd be fine with that. LOL. I know,I know,if that happened there wouldn't have been a violent and destructive 3rd act.
Totally, they even mention it earlier in the movie, the Kryptonians were born with a purpose to fulfill, a role to play, a service to provide. Zod was built to do as he did. In his mind his purpose went off skew, he had a design that became flawed somewhere along the way. But to him he was functioning in his reason for existing.
@@kerry-j4m I agree with most of that but, from what he showed Clark at least, it involved turning our sun into a red giant, which would have NOT been good for Earth...
What you should do is watch the Christopher Reeve movies. Just the first two and Brandon Routh's, then you'll get a better understanding on the character. I'd also recommend Smallville, but that's 10 seasons, so it'll be a lot of watching. But if you want to get a better understanding of the character and his relationships, Smallville would be a good show to watch. But again, it's 10 seasons and every season has 23 episodes.

Superman was the first “superhero” appearing in June of 1938 in Detective Comics number one. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster from Cleveland, Ohio. Batman was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger as a polar opposite of Superman. The same year Batman was created is the same year that the Nazis invaded Warsaw, Poland kicking off WW2. There’s a documentary called the origins of DC comics narrated by Ryan Reynolds.
That is partially correct. The first "DC Comic" but not the first superhero by those that re-formed into DC-Comics...their first actual comics were called New Fun Comics and Doctor Occult was their first Superhero in 1935
I actually have a gripe against the narrative that his disguise sucks because it's actually genius. Uh, no. Which is why the DCEU was mostly a flop, outside of the 1st Aquaman, Wonder woman, and Shazam movie. They kept assuming people knew the heroes backstory, and it left the majority of people confused, and ended up making 'ok' to 'bad' movies.
@@johnnyrocket1685 huh? that is absolutely not true. There has only ever been one studio. WB (now DC is their own) You are the one who has zero idea of what happened with the DCEU. There were constant changes in leadership, and the WB executives sent too many "notes" for changes. They change things like"camera styles and angles" (which tells me you don't know much about how films are made) because the DOP (Director of Photography) is different for each film, as is each director, who brings their own style and editing preferences, just as each film is written by a different writer/writing team. Marvel is run the same way. The difference is Marvel was unified under Kevin Feige, and the scripts were worked on until they were good (up until Endgame). And I recently rewatched Superman Returns and it might be my favorite Superman movie. The chemistry between Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth was amazing and I felt like that's what was missing in Man of Steel. She and I are also a fan of Henry Cavill but even she said this movie is not to her liking. One thing I always liked about this is that Zod is pretty close to a robot. Designed for one purpose, technically and literally incapable of compromise. But still seems to be capable of revenge. A very interesting character.
This take on Superman is built on the concept of "What if Superman existed in our real world?" rather than fully adapting the DC Universe from the comics to the screen. Since Superman is the first hero in this world, it's understandable (even though I don't particularly like it) that the Kents might struggle with Clark using his powers and revealing himself to the world. In this version, Clark’s abilities are limited by his parents' caution, which leads to him not fully developing his powers until adulthood. In the comics, especially Post-Crisis, Superman existed in a world where heroes had been active since the 1940s with the formation of the Justice Society of America. Clark developed his powers at a much younger age, becoming Superboy before transitioning into Superman when he moved to Metropolis, and both Kents were alive to witness his journey. I do enjoy Man of Steel more as an Elseworlds storyline, showcasing Superman in a world more grounded and reflective of our own, similar to what the Nolan Batman films achieved. But as a Superman film, I never really cared for it. Superman (1978) remains, for me, a much better introduction to the Man of Steel. It provides a more thorough look at his origin story, while Man of Steel assumes you already know the basics and focuses on offering a different spin on the character and his world. *What I liked:* Krypton is visually stunning in this film, blending ancient folklore with an H.R. Giger-inspired aesthetic. While I personally prefer other depictions of Krypton from the comics and animated series, this version still offered a unique and striking design, as well as an interesting history for the planet and its people. The cinematography is excellent, though I would have liked to see more color. Many superhero films post-The Dark Knight adopted that darker, grittier tone, and Man of Steel continued this trend with a dirtier, more grounded Superman, partly inspired by the New 52 comics. Michael Shannon absolutely shines as General Zod and, in my opinion, carried the entire film. The fight scenes were, of course, spectacular, and Hans Zimmer’s score was fantastic. *What I disliked:* Though it’s not featured heavily in the film, I’ve always found Metropolis dull and uninspiring. In the comics, Metropolis is the “City of Tomorrow”-a vibrant, Art Deco metropolis with a cool retro-futuristic 1950s aesthetic. It’s meant to be the opposite of Gotham City, a beacon of light contrasted against Gotham's darkness. So, I was disappointed when Metropolis ended up looking like just another generic American city. It gave me the same feeling as Gotham in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises-just bland, lifeless, and lacking any real character. Hopefully, the new DC Universe under James Gunn’s direction will give us a visually stunning and alive Metropolis in the upcoming Superman film. It needs to feel unique, not like a copy-paste New York clone made just to be destroyed in CGI. The Fortress of Solitude being a Kryptonian scout ship? It was different, I’ll give it that, but it can’t compare to the classic Fortress from the comics, animation, or even films like Superman (1978). Nothing beats the true Fortress of Solitude, a place of peace and reflection. And finally, the death of Jonathan Kent... It’s a controversial topic, but personally, I was never a fan of how it was handled.
Jon Kent’s death is stupid and I think most people agree with that, because even if clark didn’t use his powers, Johnathan still had time to run over to them but he just stood there
@@TheToxic35Snyder just doesn`t understand anything DC not written by Frank Miller or Alan Moore fucking period and even then he has a very shallow, literal reading that totally misses the point!
By the off chance Alex reads this, I'm something of a comic book nerd, so I will explain what Kryptonite is. Kryptonite are crystalized pieces of Superman's home planet Krypton. Because Krypton's sun was a red sun, Krypton absorbed the sun's rays. A red sun take away the powers of a Kryptonian if they're subjected to the rays of a yellow or blue sun. Thus when Superman is near it, it severely weakens him as he grew up absorbing the rays from Earth's yellow sun for about 30+ years, and prolonged exposure to Kryptonite will inevitably kill him. There's other types of Kryptonite (Green, red, blue, yellow, pink, etc) and all have different effects on him, but that's way too much information to throw at you too soon. I hope that helps :)
We claim Man of Steel, Wonder Woman the extended edition of Batman V Superman for plot, and Zach Snyder's Justice League, maybe Aquaman, technically Blue Beetle. The rest of the universe is non-existent. And 'The Suicide Squad.' Not just Suicide Squad
@@DankBlitzwing counter argument, Wonder Woman 1984, The Flash, Jostice League, Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey. I'm pretty split on Black Adam though so I didn't include it.
Superman content I'd personally suggest to get a feel for the character - Superman Vs The Elite (Animated movie that takes place much later in Supes career) - My Adventures With Superman (Animated series with 20 episodes across 2 seasons that is a great introduction to our favorite boy scout) - Superman 1978 (The classic, the one we all remember with Christopher Reeve, and a good beginning to Supes career)
I like you’re reviews they are always enjoyable. That being said I felt this one was, to coin your phrase ‘lacking in depth’. I don’t think it’s on purpose but more your lack of knowledge to pick up on what you’re seeing. That could be a failing of the film too. We have so many origin stories for Superman that Snyder didn’t want to waste too much time on it. I felt he did a good job, perhaps not to the lay person though. Regards to Zod, he’s actually a very complex character that in the end was fulfilling his life’s purpose. Remember Krypton’s leaders had literally destroyed the planet, he was trying to ensure its survival. He backed Joe-El until it was too late. Genocide aside he was actually a great and understandable villain. Regards to emotional beats I am somewhat with you on this one, only with regard to Louise and Superman. Emotionally their first meet was very deep, he literally saved her life. I felt like this scene could have been longer and establish their connection more. The emotion for me comes from Kal-El’s parents both on Krypton and earth. Their love for their son is obvious, as is his love for them, specially his earth parents. I felt very emotionally invested, perhaps cause I understand the lore more, who knows?! Things to mention Louis 100% knew who Clark Kent was. Snyder kept making biblical references to Superman being Jesus, the Church scene and him floating out the world engine door to then save Louis. The end fight scene that attracted some critical reviews I felt made perfect sense. Remember Superman is effectively God tier strong and when gods fight, trivialities like a city below don’t mean much. Lastly Superman killed the last of his people, he never wants to kill, let alone make him effectively the last of his race. The anguish in his scream makes this abundantly clear. Anyway overall Man Of Steel is a very under appreciated DCUE movie that for me is one of the best, as you will see. From Snyders visuals to Hans Zimmer score to the excellent cast it was a banger of a movie. Also Cavill IS Superman 😂
Yeah but it's not a waste of time if it ultimately works in favor of the movie which I think it would have. Spiderman was able to get away with that because Tobey's movies are extremely popular, and we'd just gotten a Spiderman movie 3 years prior to Hollands. In the case of this movie, I think skipping a lot of backstory and character development made me enjoy the movie on a superficial level. I like this movie the same way I like 2007 Transformers, they're a good time but they lack a lot.
The difference between homelander and Superman isn’t good and evil One can travel past the speed of sound, one can travel faster than light and break the fabric of reality One can give the punch of a nuclear bomb, one can give the punch of an entire hypernova One likes the taste of breast milk, one literally destroyed an entire solar system from sneezing One has un upper limit, one literally lifted a book that had infinite pages, meaning its weight was infinite I could go on but ye get the idea
I like DC more. I feel like most people would say Marvel is better just because of the movies but I think just about everything else DC does is better than what Marvel does. I much prefer DC shows and comics to Marvel shows and comics. Comics are really the only things that really matter because that's where 99% of all the stories and lore come from. And it's also the canon.
@@dvine3488 Good point. I was thinking more of the animated shows. I guess Marvel is better at live action. And DC is better at animated stuff and comics. Although I will say Watchmen blows almost every single Marvel movie out of the water.
Marvel is some soap opera drama. Dc is more epic story telling on a grander scale. The issue with DC movies is it will always lack that sense of drama for the bigger story arc. Most of the DC characters in the books aren't hung up with mundane human problems like being a freak mutant or having superpowers they didn't ask for. DC characters are usually accepting of what life gives them and they just deal with it the way they need to. Not drone on about the pain and agonize how they're all different like Marvel characters.
@@StankGremlin Watchmen books was actually an exercise into writing a DC characterization if it actually happened in the real world. If you lived in the 80's, it was a reflection to current events for the previous 30 years of that time. The story would be totally different if it were to be told now within the past 30 years.
22:33 I relate so much to this scene. Because I have seen my dad be protective of me and my sister. And all parents put their sons and daughters first, even if it means sacrificing their own life. And Jonathan Kent knew that the world was not ready for Clark's real identity and ability.

I agree 100% with your assessment of the lack of character development, but thats the trademark of a Zach Snyder film, "All style no substance." They look great, although he truly overuses slow motion, but the stories lack depth which make it hard to become emotionally invested in the characters unless you are already familiar with them from the comics. As a HUGE Superman and an action film fan, I LOVED Man of Steel from a visual standpoint, and I believe Henry Cavill did a great job with what he had to work with, but Warner dropped the ball big time by giving creative control of the universe to a director known for his amazing visual work and lack of emotional story telling. If Warner had made Snyder half of a team, in which he was in charge of the visual aspects of the films, and someone else in charge if the story telling aspects, i think the DCEU might have been much more successful.
Alex since you’ve seen Man of Steel it’d be rad to see you react to Christopher Reeve’s Superman movies and possibly Smallville if you’re up for the journey!

Too bad Cavill doesn't have the charisma for Superman
@@reptomicus He absolutely has the natural charisma for Superman. He’s just never really been able to convey it through his acting. With some acting lessons to help him be more natural in his performances, he would easily nail it.
Alex, the reason they didn't do more on his origin story (particularly his childhood and youth) is because it had already been done, many, many times ... in all the Superman movies and throughout all the seasons of Smallville.
You are simply part of the .001% of the earth's population who hadn't seen it. 😅
For many of the rest of us, we already had a ridiculous amount of backstory & "time vested" in all that had come before, so this movie, along with the score, brought back a flood of memories & an emotional wallop with it. (Yes, I just used "wallop" for the first time in my life. Lol.)
I will say that the casting of Lois did nothing for me --- like you, I never once believed/felt their connection. Look up Clark's high school love interest in Smallville: Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang. Pretty sure you'd get behind that pairing.
Anyhow, thanks for (once again) a great review. I appreciate what you do, brother!
Amy Adams is a great actress, but the wrong one for this role

I like to think that Homelander is what happens when a human was born with Superman powers. Even Superman wasn't born with Superman powers.

This movie is such a gem. Henry Cavill was an amazing Superman, a shame the whole DCU thing wasn't better.

All the characters have more depth than most of Man of Steel. And overall the tone and the film was just better and it was shorter than MoS.
Needing to watch a TV series from decades ago to understand characters and their motivations is the reason the DCEU has sucked so bad. They try to speed run all these details because they assume you already know the characters but that leaves their films lifeless.

He will always do whatever it takes to ensure Krypton live's on
That emotional breakdown at the end before the final fight was real, he had absolutely nothing left and was going to kill Clark because it was all he could think to do

My mother has been a fan of Superman ever since she was a teen so I grew up watching Christopher Reeves' Superman in the CDs that she owned before she was married to my dad. I also agree with you, the romance between Clark and Lois felt rushed and as soon as the first kiss happened I was like, "already?" 🤣
Anyway, great reaction! Glad that you enjoyed it too. Can't wait for you to react to other Superman movies. 🖤

8:52 JUST said it.

*What I liked:*
Krypton is visually stunning in this film, blending ancient folklore with an H.R.
*What I disliked:*
Though it’s not featured heavily in the film, I’ve always found Metropolis dull and uninspiring.
Jon Kent’s death is stupid and I think most people agree with that, because even if clark didn’t use his powers, Johnathan still had time to run over to them but he just stood there
I honestly just don't like Snyder's version of Jonathan Kent.

Second Suicide Squad movie is elite.
@@xavvi I forgot that one, thanks
While the quality varies from project to project, I feel like every piece of the DCEU is valid.
@@DankBlitzwing counter argument, Wonder Woman 1984, The Flash, Jostice League, Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey.

While you continue this, try to watch Zack Snyder's Justice league instead of 2017 Justice league. Or ( both if you want). Just a suggestion 😊

- Superman Vs The Elite (Animated movie that takes place much later in Supes career)
- My Adventures With Superman (Animated series with 20 episodes across 2 seasons that is a great introduction to our favorite boy scout)
- Superman 1978 (The classic, the one we all remember with Christopher Reeve, and a good beginning to Supes career)
The difference between homelander and Superman isn’t good and evil
One can travel past the speed of sound, one can travel faster than light and break the fabric of reality
One can give the punch of a nuclear bomb, one can give the punch of an entire hypernova
One likes the taste of breast milk, one literally destroyed an entire solar system from sneezing
One has un upper limit, one literally lifted a book that had infinite pages, meaning its weight was infinite
I could go on but ye get the idea
Never realised how much in common Man of Steel has to Dexter…
Superman = Dexter Morgan?
And it's also the canon.
no dc show comes close to daredevil, punisher or loki season 2
@@dvine3488 Good point. I was thinking more of the animated shows. I guess Marvel is better at live action. And DC is better at animated stuff and comics. Although I will say Watchmen blows almost every single Marvel movie out of the water.
@@dvine3488peacemaker is better than Loki szn 2 but yeah nothing tops dd
