The whole point of the character is holding back though. It's temperance. IE, knowing when to hold them and knowing when to fold them and knowing when to use the sword and when to use the pen and the voice. If you mean you wish they'd have more awesome action set pieces like this movie where he's allowed to demonstrate visually his power then I agree, but generally speaking what makes him Superman is that he goes out of his way to avoid big destructive action set pieces even when he inevitably finds himself apart of them.

    You're absolutely right. Superman is massively overpowered...but I don't think that's what makes him "Super". • @seriousleesgaming3042

Strength of character is exactly what makes Superman compelling. Any of us would end up being somewhere on the Homelander spectrum if we had these powers, and Superman remains a true Paragon. Power does not corrupt him. He's like Captain America with Thor's powers, and we all enjoyed seeing that! haha

The extended cut of BvS spends over 40 minutes of run time with various characters discussing this exact question. Superman comics would have been boring if he didn't have villains to match his general might. That's why most of Superman's villains are either fellow Kryptonians, aliens from other worlds/dimensions, or a psychopath genius human with the entire world's resources at his disposal (Luthor). He's also pretty vulnerable to magic, which means that he has a bit of a problem dealing with villains like Black Adam, or Mxyzptlk.

Also with the military round the world likely ready to wage defensive war, their would have been an unbelievable amount of death. How badly we'd probably treat him. How most people would be scared of him, scared of the IDEA of him, and would mistrust him immediately.
Haters of this film assumed that the movie would depict everybody loving Superman right away, but in reality... most of us would be terrified of the man. Zack decided to be honest about showing people HOW WE ARE, instead of us being portrayed as these "innocents" who need our kittens taken out of trees.

There's a difference between the two, MCU fans have knowledge only through films and are riddled with toxicity and tend to think they're a superior franchise whereas Marvel fans know of the characters through the comics and appreciate that the characters they've read have come to life on the screen and would like the other franchise to prosper to enjoy the experience of another superhero genre.

A lot don’t understand the killing thing but it makes sense. He knew Zod wouldn’t stop and there was no longer a way to send him to the phantom zone and they didn’t even know about krytonite. We all know the “no killing” rule but this film gave a reason for the rule. After this film he had a reason to never kill again and to learn to take the battle away from civilians. Most importantly you can see how much it pained him to do it. He realised he’d killed the last part of his heritage and embraced his human side. All the flaws he shows are HUMAN flaws so the argument he isn’t relatable goes straight out the window. Amazing film and slated by pod shills who are only willing to accept the Marvel way. I own all the marvel but out of around 30 films there have only been about 4 bad guys I can believe in and relate to. Man of Steel did it with the first movie. Marvel is brilliant at what it is. This movie is different but just as good in my opinion as long as you’re willing to think a bit more.

Henry Cavil brings depth to the story with a restrained performance when, in many super hero movies, overacting in the norm.
Many movies seem to have battles that destroy cities with few repercussions but the battle and damage done by Superman and Zod in Metropolis is a plot point in Batman v Superman so at least Superman doesn't get a total pass on that element of the film.

The citizens on Krypton are known as houses. The “El” family lead by Jor-El (Superman’s father) and the “S” on his chest is just the family symbol crest. If you go back to the beginning you can see all the Kryptonian’s have symbols on their wardrobe. Kal-El is known as Clark Kent on Earth. In comic book lore - Jonathan Kent dies of a heart attack on the farm. Clark has a surreal experience as with all his powers he couldn’t save his father. This of course was changed for this story and I think it was very effective.

She knows at the end. She is in on the secret. It was a clever way to work around the fact that the only person close to both Superman and Clark could not tell the apart because of the glasses and posture. She is the only one that know.

To me, Henry Cavill is the ultimate Superman, but if you have the time, I recommend watching "Superman Returns" for a slightly different take on the hero. It's a one-off sequel to the Christopher Reeve version of the character, but Brandon Routh (Clark), Kate Bosworth (Lois), James Marsden, and Kevin Spacey (Lex Luthor) all do a really nice job of creating a very human story for the Man of Steel.

I remember exactly what went through my head when I saw the amount of destruction in the city, I was like "Gosh damn take it to space, can't hurt anything up there!".
Well they took it to space, and I was like "FINALL- Oh! Well there goes a satellite" **facepalm** 😂🤣
But to be fair though, when several god-like aliens start going at it in a city, that amount of destruction is bound to happen, add to that the military throwing everything they've got at them because the fate of the entire world hangs in the balance... they're not gonna worry about 1 city.

Even if Supes flew into space the Krypton soldiers wouldn't have chased after him,no need too, they'd just lay waste to the Earth without anyone to oppose them. The Krypton soldiers chose the battle-field-EARTH-not Supes, their plans as spoken by them was to lay waste to the Earth and kill millions. ( big plot-hole tho, they could've just as easily chose Jupiter or Saturn as a new Krypton, but, then we wouldn't have much of a movie, would we. LOL.
