To answer a couple of the questions you had: Mera can control/manipulate water to an incredible degree, which you saw in JL when she pulled water and blood from Steppenwolf. I think we saw that Arthur can create a force field of sorts as well in JL when he tried to buy time for them to escape that tunnel. But not to the same level as Mera. Atlanteans need those suits to breath out of water. Only a few can breath on land and in water. Atlanteans seem to be powerful, but Arthur stands out among them because of his mixed blood. Yes, in the comics, Black Manta has a big helmet lol. But they managed to make the silly orange and green look badass, as they did the Manta suit. And you didn't ask but a fun fact, because I am also Canadian (BC), they filmed some of Man of Steel in my area, and some of Aquaman in your area! Canada represent! I am glad you didn't let Amber Heard's real life trail affect your viewing of this movie. Personal opinions of Amber Heard aside, this is a fun and enjoyable movie! Yeah I have no problem enjoying an actor in a role, even if they're a train wreck irl. Like Kevin Spacey is really good to watch onscreen, but irl I hope he rots.
Aquaman is stronger outside of water because of the high pressures in the deep making him super strong, also he only gets weaker on the surface if he doesn’t stay hydrated
The visuals and action scenes in this movie are some of the best I've seen in a live action superhero movie. Those fight scenes are something else. Kinda ridiculous this film wasn't even nominated for best visual effects.
In the comics Mera and the entire kingdom of Xebel, which is her father’s kingdom In the movie, have hydro-kinetic abilities. They can manipulate all liquids and form them into various things such as air pockets like in the film, water beams, and even fully fledged weapons like swords and daggers. Aquaman doesn’t really have hydro kinetic abilities however his trident does allow him to control the seas, so he’s still incredibly powerful and can control many aspects of water.
That should include her father as well if all of Xebel had water bending abilities. But that would also mean taking away the uniqueness of Mera having that power.
@@changsangma1915 Yeah in the comics everyone from her kingdom has the same abilities, but it seems like they decided to just give Mera the ability for the films. Some of them (but not all) can do that, and it's most recurrent in royalty. This is not explained in the movie though - Apart from his kids across different continuities, Aquaman is the only Atlantean with marine telepathy. The reason is explained in the comics, but just in case they finally explain it in the second Aquaman movie and becomes a plot point, I won't explain it here - DC movies are not inherently dark, like most casual vieweres think (you included, apparetnly). The comics are not either. It's just the edgy style of Snyder in the first couple of movies that unfortunately gave thousands of people that impression.

Aquaman and Wonder Woman are two of my favorite D.C. movies out there!! I never really got into Batman or Superman, any version of them, but... Justice League is cool too! I have seen most of Henry Cavill's Superman though because it's on cable tv a lot, but, I never had any great desire to watch the Batman stuff... I DID LOVE the Sandman series on Netflix to PIECES though!! It's sooo good!!! I definitely recommend it, if you haven't seen it yet, even if you just watch it on your own!! They're making a season 2 of the Sandman, and I'm sooo excited to see it!!
How come you didn't notice your province being destroyed in the movie? If you need to know what I'm talking about, it's during the montage where the news is discussing the coastlines around the world being wrecked and one of them being highlighted is St. John's
I noticed it in editing. Haha I lived in that city on Newfoundland for years. I think I missed it the first time cause the scene was only up for a few seconds and I was looking at the crashed ship trying to make out those details. I messaged a few of my friends if they noticed that part, and only one of them said they did. The rest didn't notice it either. Haha. :) It's was great. :D
@@NewfieMovieReactions I've traveled to St. John's with my mother some years ago in the summer. It was very nice there. I heard that it's slowly getting some film work there, especially with the new Disney Peter Pan remake that filmed there for Neverland.
In the books and the old 60's cartoon the seahorse was a pet named Storm. I was disappointed that they didn't include that in the movie. If I had written it as a kid Arthur would have met Storm through Vulko and they grew up together. Could have have been a really touching scene where Storm saved Arthur's life written. And I think it would have been a hit with the real fans.
In DC there is a lost land similar to Marvel's Savage Land. It's called Skartaris and is more of a Hollow Earth or "Journey to the Center of the Earth" type. I don't know if the movie references that place.
I generally liked this film, but the one thing I did not care for was the rewriting of the 'origin' of Black Manta in the first fifteen minutes of the film. In the comics, Manta's father was NOT a pirate. He was a thief and a scavenger who stole salvage from derelict and sinking ships. Aquaman was a very young lad when he encountered a slaughtered pod of whales who had been his friends as a boy, and followed what he thought was the trail of the whale hunters responsible for the death of his friends. Manta's father was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and was killed by Aquaman who mistakenly thought he was one of the ones responsible. Aquaman later on in life expressed regret at his younger manner of 'shooting first, asking questions later'. But when the young son who would later become Manta discovered his dead father and searched for his father's killer, discovered Aquaman was responsible, it sowed the seeds for a vengeful and unrelenting hatred between the two thereafter. There is no forgiveness between the two, as Manta has gone on to hurt Aquaman by killing Aquaman's loved ones in revenge. There's too much bad blood spilled between them. But it all started when Aquaman killed an innocent man. I personally feel the comic book version of the story is more compelling and nuanced, but Hollywood doesn't like having its heroes have feet of clay. So they sanitized the story to place all the blame squarely on Manta and his father.
I loved the New 52 Aquaman comics and this film dived into that while making something badass on its own. Really looking forward to the sequel, The lost Kingdom, Amber Heard or not.
I used to really love this film but something feels off watching it now. I haven't seen it since before the Snyder Cut. Before, when the theatrical Justice League was all we knew, there was little in the way of Atlantis scenes. Vulko was cut all together, we didn't get many up close scenes of the Atlanteans. And so watching this was the first experience we really had for seeing Atlantis. And it was cool, I enjoyed it. But when the Snyder cut did arrive, watching this back, I can see a clear disconnect from Snyders vision and honestly, I'd rather this film was continuing Snyders version. The fantasy looking armour in the Snyder Cut was cooler than this sci fi nonsense. The fact Atlanteans could breathe out of the water (the Atlantean who's mind was read in Snyder cut) makes more sense than this, only royalty can breathe on land bollocks. And the air bubbles to speak was cooler than this films anyone can speak under water stuff too. Another issue I have is that whilst I do enjoy the tone of the film, again, now with the snyder cut released, I wish it was more serious, just as the snyder films were. You said it yourself, this feels very marvel. And thats for a reason. WB wanted DC to be a copy of Marvel and that's just the complete wrong direction to go in. Copying Marvel is the fastest way to ensure you are forever viewed as the copycat, as second best, as nothing more than a clone. Snyder's DC was unique and it's own thing. I make no apology in saying I LOVE THE SNYDERVERSE. Any haters can call me a cultist or a shill or whatever toxic label you want to put on me. For me, Man of Steel was the best superhero film ever, followed by BvS. I love them because they were not like marvel. Marvel is good, but it gets so much wrong/ misses so much which makes great cinema. I do not want DC to copy Marvel. This film copied it. And I see just how much now, now that I have seen Aquaman in full Dark, Gritty Glory.
you didn't know? back before this movie released, wan post on Twitter but delete it after 30 second. Wan said he shown Snyder his own cut. I bet his cut are much more scarier and no jokes in it.
I recommend u start reacting to the DC animated universe as its much better than the live action DC movies. Starting with movies like “The Flashpoint Paradox”, in a chronological order.

During the Depp trial Warner bros director gave evidence in court to say there was no chemistry between the two during filming and they had to use a lot of editing tricks to make them look like they liked each other. SHE WHO WILL NOT BE NAMED accused JD of getting her fired from aquaman but he didn't she got fired because it didn't work between her and mamoa
IS THE BEST DC MOVIE TODAY.
"AQUAMAN"
TO BE CLEAR "AQUAMAN" IS A "MARVEL" MOVIE", BUT WITH THE " DC" LOGO JUST AMAZING.
This is a totally EPIC movie. 👌
The Levithan is called Karathen. She is 2 Miles (3.2 Km) Long. Godzilla would look like a House Lizard in front of that.
That was a marine biologist called Shin on the broadcast... You're talking about Jimmy Woo from Ant Man and Wandavision.
I love the Trench creature design
You should watch some of the DC animated movies..they are pretty good as well
Aquaman is more powerful than a normal Atlantean because he has royal blood and because he’s the true king
Can't wait for Shazam.
hes basically Superman under the water. I liked this movie. It was just thrill a minute fun. Lots of great effects Not too significant or heady.
Leather jacket business 😂😂😂😂
"Not much chemistry there."
That's because Amber Heard couldn't act if $10,000,000 was on the line.
Dolph Ludgren did an amazing job as meras father
Nice reaction and waiting for SHAZAM! reaction
His dad IS Boba Fett
Hope you saw after credits scene
Nice shirt
Everything's so colorful here 😂! The movie is actually quite nice, but the hot Jason Momoa is a huge distraction.
Water is in-compressible, so yeah It could definitely be used as a weapon. Personally, I think this is the best comic book adaptation yet it’s epic!
He's a superhuman cause his mother was a queen of atlantis and only the royal family has powers
I watched this in IMAX 3D and it was so amazing 😍
See it's amazing and people hated it.
In DC there is a lost land similar to Marvel's Savage Land. It's called Skartaris and is more of a Hollow Earth or "Journey to the Center of the Earth" type. I don't know if the movie references that place.
42:33 ..No!! He is genetically acquiring activation of the Abilities!! of various sea and ocean creatures.-Ernie Moore Jr.
Love you man, you're a super sweet dude, but if you ever get the chance to save a mass murderer... don't.
Haha. :) I have the Spider-Man mentality... save everyone always no matter what crimes they commit. It's what heroes do. :)
Yes, Aquaman is comparable to superman in water, but only about as strong as Wonder Woman out of it.
Great reaction :-) !!! I love that movie !!!
Basically anyone who’s royalty can breath in and out of water. Atlanteans who aren’t can breathe only in water.
I will miss a lot this members of the Justice League.
I loved the New 52 Aquaman comics and this film dived into that while making something badass on its own.
Really looking forward to the sequel, The lost Kingdom, Amber Heard or not.
Next... SHAZAM!
can't wait
Felt like 3 movies crammed into one though!
Truths right there
you didn't know? back before this movie released, wan post on Twitter but delete it after 30 second. Wan said he shown Snyder his own cut. I bet his cut are much more scarier and no jokes in it.
cool, love snyderverse
You gotta watch Shazam next
Love the shirt
Awesome!!💯💯💯😄👍👍
The dad played and plays Bobba Fett
Atlantean royalty can breath in air and water and train to use magic.
People complained that DC was to dark and not enough like Marvel so going forward the jokes in the movies keep increasing until they become comedy’s.
the chemistry problem was because no one could really do that with amber.
Can anyone remind me why Queen Atlanta can breathe air? I thought only Arthur could because he was a half-blood
alantians study the magic of water bending. and i believe mera is the best one
I recommend u start reacting to the DC animated universe as its much better than the live action DC movies. Starting with movies like “The Flashpoint Paradox”, in a chronological order.
