Can I use concor 5mg for blood pressure

I got diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse a few days ago after having arrhythmia (mostly after running and late night when resting).
I got concor cor 1,25 mg (half pill a day) prescribed.
I informed the doctor that I have low heart rate very often (46-49 bpm).
I'm now having low rate of 47 -55 all day and it keeps fluctuating.
I guess the beta blocker causes it.
Is it advisable to take such medication that lowers heart rate when already having low rate?

Update: I've had a strong, irregular beat since and my cardiologist recommended to increase the dosage. I now take 1 pill a day (1,25 mg).
He said the pill won't lower bpm any further. I've only read it otherwise, guess he must know better than me.
My resting heart rate is still around 50.
Hope this will work out.

I was given Ativan 1mg and bisopropol and had to take 2,5mg then 5mg but it had to be together. Definitely consult doctor before self diagnosing and medicating.
