Generic name: Bisoprolol.
Brand names: Concor and Zebeta.
Available as a tablet.
How to use it?
- Tablet: just swallow it whole with half a glass of water.
It is best to take this medicine at fixed times. This will make you less likely to forget a dose.
When to use it?
Bisoprolol is part of a group of drugs called beta blockers. These reduce the workload on your heart and widen your blood vessels, causing your heart to beat slower and with less force. Therefore Bisoprolol can be used to treat; A high blood pressure, angina pectoris and chronic heart failure.
What is the correct dosage?
The precise dose will depend on your specific indication of use, the side effect you might experience and the severity of your symptoms. Therefore always use the precise amount and frequency your doctor prescribed you.
- However, in adults, most doctors will start with an initial dose of 1.25 mg 1×/day for 1 week. If this is tolerated well, the dose might be increased weekly by 1,25mg up to 5mg 1x/day. From there the dose can be increased every 4 weeks with 2,5mg up to a max. of 10mg per day.
What are the side-effects?
- Very common (10%): slow heart rate.
- Common (1-10%): Increase in heart failure, dizziness, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure, cold hands or feet, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation.
- Uncommon (0.1-1%): conduction disturbances, low blood pressure, muscle weakness, cramps, sleep disturbance and depression.
- Rare (0.01-0.1%): hearing impairment, allergic reaction, loss of consciousness, hot flashes, erectile dysfunction, nightmare and hallucination.
- Very rare (0.01%): Increase of psoriasis, rash and hair loss.
Safety:
The first days of using bisoprolol it can lead to dizziness or fatigue. Please do not drive while experiencing this.
Furthermore, alcohol widens the blood vessels. It can therefore increase the side effect of dizziness at the beginning of treatment. Try drinking alcohol in moderation first so you can estimate its effects.
Bisoprolol can also have interactions with other drugs you are taking. Always discuss this with your prescribing doctor.
Lastly, bisoprolol could be dangerous for pregnant women and women who are breastfeeding. Therefore always discuss this with your personal doctor.

I have a question how can i safely get out of bisoprolol? As i feel better
I have been taking 1.5 mg for years.Also have Gas problems.Can I stop it.Also a Heart patient 4 Stents.
I have extremely bad dizziness when I stand up, like I want to pass out and nausea every morning since starting this , it's been 6 months and nothing has changed. I only put this together in my mind today as I was trying to understand these symptoms and then realised it started when I started taking this med. I was also put straight onto 5mg no ramping up. I decided to take it at night but I wake up feeling ill and anxious as well
Same setuation
It's pure poison ...they reckon canderstarten best one to take
I am taking concor 5 last six months but i have many problem slow my daily activities and imbalance
My heart rate is down to 50 sometimes but still bp of higher than 150 over 75
I have chest discomfort is it due to bisoprolol i am taking 1.25mg
I’m taking 5mg and I found the side effects to be very heavy. A lot of of fatigue and generally kind of spaced-out and numb. I don’t like them very much :-P
Me too, i thought it was me till i looked into it. People dont understand
@@boccia2409 hope you’re able to get off of them!
Same here ,,,,,,,,drop the dose before the dose drops you ???? Good luck !!!!
I can sure relate to your side effects. I'm weaning myself off this mess.... slowly as stated. Makes me feel like I have to live life in slow motion .... fatigue, low energy, and yes, the spaced out feeling . light-headed feelings. It also makes my chest feel weird.....
1 st doctor prescribed telmisartan40+metoprolol 25 post-breakfast, bp was still out of range.
2nd doctor prescribed amlodipine 5 along with telmisartan40+25 (post breakfast) , bp well under control on next visit this doctor prescribed telmisartan40+amlodipine5 (post breakfast) and bisoprolol 2.5 post dinner (bp is normal).
Is there a need to continue taking bisoprolol at night? Bp reading is normal before taking the night medication.
Has anyone had joint pain since you have been taking this.
Yes you can get joint pain taking Bisoprolol. Do you ever find that your ankles or legs pain or swell?
Commonly causes heart failure?
Yes I would like this answered
I feel good on atenolol or Propranolol but not on Bisoprolol?! Why???
CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A NATURAL ALTERNATIVE ?
ive just been put on 1.25g for my fast heart rate above 120
Did you know what cause that fast hr?
I was on that dose for 9 months and it only treat symptoms
In my case anxiety was possibly one of causes of fast heart rate and hypertension
😮😮😮😮
Ik slik 10mg
I take 2.5mg and my heart rate and BP rise after taking I don’t understand why.
I also take 2.5mg and my BP is sometimes jumping and heart rate is still pretty high 💁🏻♀️
If I was taking 1.25mg and I half it and whine myself off it
Am not taking that. If u don't take it and u colapse they sey , well he didn't use medication and if u take it and u colapse/di they sey , well he had heart problems.
So true. Don't know what to do but to trust God and Pray.
I'm taking this drug, my side effect, ED
Really bro
@@jattwaadjattwaad309 yes, the reason was for A/F but my blood pressures came down, 120/70 45-50 but now about six months in 140/80 45-50 this drug stopped me going into hospital to have a procedure on my heart, as l do suffer with A/F readings going up to 190 per minute l will however be going to have the operation at some point, had a monitor on for a week, so it did show the A/F , in that week l had 17 accounts of raised heart rate, the longest period was 17 hours, they also gave me another two box's of Bicorporal to take an extra tablet if needed, only one no more as all my medication comes too me in trays. so going forward if you have problems with a raised heart rate, ask for the weekly monitor, not, one for 24 hours. I have had prostrate procedures done, that also may be contributing to the problem, but bicorporal put the final blow in,
@@simplyphil.photography164 are u still on bisoprolol? Or have found a natural alternative?,I stopped taking mine after a heart stent and my heart beats remained above 80 only come down to 66 when I’m fast asleep(Apple Watch) more importantly when I exercised and heart beat got to 149 then it was recovering to 108 bpm in normal time but then for hours it would be between 95-105 which made me start taking bisoprolol again, currently sat here with a pulse of 62 Nom but reading all the side effects and ED is not one I want ,I’ll carry on taking for a week and see if I can get an erection otherwise if it does cause ED and I want to stay on the tablet for the sake of a lower heartbeat then I might be facing Divorce 🥺
@@moedem yes still on bisoprolol, no other has been tried, using my GT spray as well, the A/F is no better
@@moedem just to let you know further, ED tablets, you cannot take any, no blue pills or similar, its a hard fact and lm 70 and still active, well trying is all one can say, bye for now
