  • @Pridetoons

    Right now I'm 100% disappointed with the RG503. The RK3566 is definitely more powerful than the RK3326 but the lack of Touchscreen Functions and 1GB of RAM may have ruined this device for me. This Handheld neither appeals to the Open-Source or Emulation crowds. I'm very sad. Let's hope the Community can make something of this device.

    • @jamesyu5212
      @jamesyu5212 2 года назад +1

      It’s not just the RAM. The lack of eMMC would seriously hamper android 11 as well. If this included android it would at least make sense for DS gaming. Now it’s only a slightly more powerful version of a 2 year old device ( the 351 line).

    • @Pridetoons
      @Pridetoons 2 года назад +1

      @@jamesyu5212 When you look at Single Core scores compared to the RK3326 the RK3566 scores significantly higher. On top of this this chip has already been used in Android boxes and has better performance than what we see in the RG503.

    • @jamesyu5212
      @jamesyu5212 2 года назад +1

      @@Pridetoons the numbers may look like a huge gap but in practice it’s functionally nothing. It plays 10-15% of psp and dreamcast games better than 351 line. That’s a mediocre upgrade. It’s lack of ram is unforgivable. Those rk3566 set top boxes come with 4-8 gigs of ram. Ram and added bandwidth helps with caching for emulators like duck station.

    • @Pridetoons
      @Pridetoons 2 года назад +1

      @@jamesyu5212 That's all fair but the RK3326 devices can play almost 200 PSP games I've tested plus they do pretty okay with a large chunk of Dreamcast games I've tested. An extra 10% - 15% is basically 65% - 75% and maybe 85% of PSP games. N64 is obviously still going to be Hit and Miss but would have improved. With all this being said Anbernic needs something that can compete with the Retroid Pocket 2+, Powkiddy X18S and the Odin. The only thing saving them now is the RP2+ is in Pre-Order, The Powkiddy X18S has lackluster build quality, and the Odin is still an Indiegogo Campaign.

    • @TBMartin
      @TBMartin 2 года назад

      Touchscreen should be your least worry because you're playing games that do not require it. Yes its only really needed for Android but other devices like the Retriod Pocket 2, work great still without one. The Ram issue should be everyone's main worry because 1GB of ram is not helpful. Can't even load games (like PS1 games) into ram.

      It is powerful enough to run N64 and at least 10% - 15% more PSP games than the RK3326 devices. The problem is the stock firmware is completely broken. Also 1GB of RAM definitely doesn't help sell this device.

      I just don't see the point. I have the 350 and it has hdmi working on some firmwares, but I naver even tested it. It's just not something I would do with a handheld... If I want to play at home on a tv/monitor I would connect something like a tv box or a PC and not bother with the handheld. So the only option would be when I travel. And still I would probably connect a laptop or something.
      I had hdmi on my tablet as well, and I used it a bit more when I travel instead of a laptop. And I was watching movies or playing games on it. But again that was rare and only when I was traveling and staying in some hotel.
      It's a nice option to have, that is for sure, but if there was an option without it for a couple of bucks less, I would probably take it instead :D

      @@josephbradshaw6985 Here is the thing between the screen display sizes of the RG503 and RG353P. The screen size of the RG503 is said to be 5 inches but it's really about the same height as the 3.5 inch screen of the RG353P. It's just that the screen of the RG503 has been stretched horizontally to make it 5 inches. You get it now? By that I would either get the RG353P or I would get an RGB10 Max 2 for an even larger display. The single pure color schemes of the RGB10 Max 2 look much better, that being the all black or the all white versions. The only thing I don't like about the Powkiddy RGB10 Max 2 is that it only has one speaker (though the single speaker sounds pretty good!), the RG353P has 2 speakers. Another thing, I could not get the media player to work on the RG503 but it works easily on the RG353P and on the RGB10 Max 2.

      @@bulletpunch9317 i am using it since one year now... I can tell you clearly that it is not throttle in any case I used it so far... Even the harder ones, like ps2 or gamecube does not make the System throttle... So, yes in a specific way, if you want to push it to the Limits, Maybe IT will throttle faster as the 845 of the Odin, but not in normal life usage...
