So a couple things I found interesting. The new mythic crafting system means you can essentially get the mythic unique you want as long as you have a large number of runes to gamble with (if you don't get what you want you just scrap it to get your spark back and try again). This is a really clever way to keep runes relevant for casual players since we're less likely to see a ton of those items drop on our own, but very likely to have unneeded runes. Depending on the rune drop rate it may very well be worth the time to just reroll that mythic until you get your GA CDR Shaco, which should probably get you past T1 by itself. Additionally, for those of you worried about bricking your items, the patch notes indicate that Infernal Hordes can drop retempering scrolls, so no need to party up for the raid if that's not your jam. That said, I really hope people embrace the multiplayer aspect of the game. This game desperately needs a sense of community that exists beyond trading forums, and clans should be more than just an extra bit of verbiage under your name tag. Overall I like how the endgame concept is doubling down on "do activities to unlock other activities to unlock other activities." As someone who hates doing the same thing over and over again, tricking my brain into perceiving the grind as a reward for another grind is the best way to keep me engaged :P. As far as class changes go, I'm a sorc main and sorc got some significant changes in the latest patch notes. That said, enlightenment conjuration builds were absolutely ridiculous (gameplay was literally holding down all your buttons over an enemy and maxing your attack speed to get your cooldowns out there faster), so I agree that they were "fixed" rather than "nerfed," but I'll miss it a little bit lol.
The fact that you can get the retempering scrolls outside of the raid is a massive relief. Really makes it so that there's nothing locked behind group play other than cosmetics. Very good decision.
As someone who plays games a lot more than the average person this game is fine to just blast it doesn't need to be POE. Some of the criticisms are valid but a lot aren't.
I'm with you. It's amazing how the same people who pay $50+ for a 20-30 hour experience pay $70 for D4, play it for 100's of hours then complain about new content. How did we get to the point where some gamers think the developer is required to keep giving them new content.

As one of the Dad’s with kids that only get 8-10 hours a week to play, I am have been enjoying things! Very sad for Sorc players, but excited that season 6 will be the season of the companions.

After a year of playing the open beta I had a lot of fun this season, made 3 characters that can solo tormented bossed, got my first Uber uniques got 100+ pit. It was a fun and enjoyable ride, I got my $100 worth, thank you Blizzard, I think it’s time for me to leave, I’ll run away.
I feel like the real problem is still here... you will end up playing the game as the devs wants you to play it. There is still no tools for creativity, or fun items/skills interaction, only damage% and procs, it is very underwhelming.

This is a HORRIBLE direction for the game. It’s always been mostly a solo experience. With OPTIONAL playing with friends. Forcing people into this content for the best items. This is absolutely insane.
Best part of playing ARPGs as a kid was learning everything and getting new things to play with. New abilities need to be added as you go to change it up. Extra stats get stale quick as it's the same gameplay. Literally playing something less than pacman at that point.
Kind of a semi related thought, but I hate how we learn everything about new games/expansions before they are even out now. There is barely any surprises in store here because they tell us everything in advance. That was a large part of the magic of playing games back in the 80s and 90s; you saw a back of the box blurb and that was it, everything in the game was a surprise, now you know exactly what you will be doing months before the game even comes out.
That's my issue with Diablo 4 as a whole. Nothing feels rewarding or challenging to complete. The game needs challenges with great rewards and sense of power growth. The raid seems pointless until you can achieve Torment 4 for the cosmetic and then you never touch it again. Also nothing in the game feels unique or cool to obtain. I'm always thinking to myself " oh cool another legendary"

- Was hoping to see a definite Ancestral Drop Rate increase, I see the word "MAY", which is not literal. - Dark Citadel will most likely be a fail, I want the rewards, yet I am a solo player and have no intention of playing co-op, so they have made a breaking point again in the game, rewarding certain players and not all players, this is a fail. Dark Citadel should be solo, and if you co-op (invite players to join) you get better rewards than going solo. The current cross platform gameplay is all this game needs for co-op play! - They better have increased stash size with all this new content and made a lot of items stackable, especially runes. - They also need to make a cross character stash and a character only stash, this way each character keeps their own items, instead of having all character items in one stash. Other than the nerfing all the time by the devs, S6 is looking ok, thou I had the best time in S5, the mechanics rework is going to be a major issue for players, they need to stop changing the game mechanics every season.

Well, they are squishing stats for the expansion. The multipliers is taking a big hit. You will still probably be hitting for hundreds of thousands and millions, but not trillions.
It will be GREAT......until it's not. This will be the same as the base game.....my big issue is the short game play cycles. I frackin hate having to reset and start over only to do the same bs I just did the previous seasons. It's just gimmicky carrot on a damn stick. Shit gets tiresome.

Which I don't have a problem with at a high level (i.e cosmetics from challenges instead of bought with cash is a good idea), but locking it behind party play is... not a great idea, and also unprecedented in a Diablo game. It's funny because they went out of their way to make Diablo 4 less of a party-focused game than 3, but 3 doesn't have anything that locks out solo players like this.

Look, what it comes down to is if you like D4, great! If you don't like it, also fine. But don't act like this content isn't something that should have been done close to release. Every time Blizzard makes a new game, they scrap existing systems only to rehash them later. Old fans of Diablo have wanted innovative and fun new ways to enjoy the game, whether through content grinds or events. D4 is drip-feeding that to players to keep them leashed for longer in hopes of continually selling battlepasses and cosmetics. I know D4 haters always love to point to POE - it's for good reason. It has the same seasonal rehashing but continually revamps or includes that content onto live service and it's IMPACTFUL.

Not putting actual loot into the raids (aside from the cosmetics) is a very, very big L take. There is no incentive to do the raid aside from the highest difficulty for the cosmetics..

I don't mind prestige stuff but... eh, I guess times have changed, back in the day things weren't as organized and abused, so you could reasonably say most people wouldn't bother or have a system setup for it, but that's what this will result in. People giving away or selling runs.

Thanks for the breakdown. Had played through S5 just to understand what's going on in terms of changes (last time I played was during S1 and Pre-S1), and I'm actually looking forward for the new expension to be released. It should be more fun than the initial release of the game, it has matured for sure (albeit still disappointing).
They don't want to funnel you into group content so they have weekly rewards and cosmetics. The content you're talking about is in kurast under city and boss ladder/infernal hordes which makes sense since you can do all that solo.
Franchise died back in Diablo 3 when game wasn’t about cool gear anymore just pieces to attach to generic random gear with a color coding to make it feel special when it’s not. Then they repeated this process for Diablo 4 expecting they could get away with it if the art team carried it. It couldn’t carry this pile of shit 😂
Cosmetics only for raid? That’s a terrible design. Why would I buy the dlc now if I can run the raid in 2 years and get the same cosmetics? At least in WoW the bosses drop set items that increase your power.

My concern is about the Mercenaries. I fear they'll be completely useless on their own past Normal difficulty. And that we'll be using them like in D3 only because of 1 or 2 somewhat useful passives, and they'll need an item to make then invincible otherwise they'd keep dying. I HOPE that's not the case at all and that they're actually useful and can contribute on their own.

I went to buy Dragonflight like a month before TWW and I couldn’t. I could only purchase TWW and I did and got Dragonflight FREE.

adding group content only to an ARPG is a bold move, but if its only MTX as a reward, you gotta ask...why even put the effort to make said content? so you do the raid once, then just dip and literally never touch it again. it sounds awful.
Oh its like with every "new" stystem they introduce to the diablo franchise, They steal it from somewhere else, but they forget to steal the important part. They took lost arks raid, saw that the highest difficulty only yields cosmetics, and they copied it. What they forgot is, that all easier difficulties, actually reward u with loot to upgrade your character. So they stole, hab only halfassed like with the affix/loot system they stole from Last epoch like couple months ago, they forgot to also steal the most important parts
There's also weekly rewards so we'll have to see if they make them worthwhile. It's pretty clear you are supposed to be spending way more time on other content, not the raids. People are acting like there's not a whole other game mode in addition to changes to pit/nightmare dungeons and also a spammable seasonal mechanic. Why is everyone so laser focused on the one piece of content you're going to be spending less time on than these others.

I think the mistake people make with the game is following guides instead of creating their own build. Its a great game when you experiment with your own builds and feels so much more rewarding.

The problem has been that making your own builds will only get you so far. Most builds have a ceiling and you have to use a meta build to go further in the game, which makes it boring. I’ve made a Leap, kick, ground stomp build every season. Around 85-90 it becomes increasingly ineffective

Diablo is a solo game for me. No interest in raids. The rest of the additions look pretty good to me.

Don't know how good Raid can work in arpg, especially if rewards are just buffs and cosmetics. Why people would bother really? Except small percentage of people eho play with friends and even smaller percentage sociable fellow. Unless you can pair up with npc merc

And within a few minutes i went from caring about the raids to not giving a shit about them. Doing a raid should yield worthwhile gear. If ppl refuse to do raids bc they want to solo thats their choice. Cosmetics do not make this raid worth doing.

It will still give you gear, it's just not unique to the raid. Same gear you would get elsewhere, just another method of obtaining it.

@@Johnnybsknees Literally not true. There are cosmetics. Some of which are locked behind Torment 4. Which I don't have a problem with at a high level (i.e cosmetics from challenges instead of bought with cash is a good idea), but locking it behind party play is... not a great idea, and also unprecedented in a Diablo game. It's funny because they went out of their way to make Diablo 4 less of a party-focused game than 3, but 3 doesn't have anything that locks out solo players like this.
So they added GRs. They are making the game too complicated. This reward does this, this reward does that
I'm sure the update will be cool but I'm not paying another 40€ for this game. They should release it for free since it took them a year to actually fix the god damn game in the first place.

But don't act like this content isn't something that should have been done close to release. Every time Blizzard makes a new game, they scrap existing systems only to rehash them later. Old fans of Diablo have wanted innovative and fun new ways to enjoy the game, whether through content grinds or events. D4 is drip-feeding that to players to keep them leashed for longer in hopes of continually selling battlepasses and cosmetics. I know D4 haters always love to point to POE - it's for good reason. It has the same seasonal rehashing but continually revamps or includes that content onto live service and it's IMPACTFUL.

Not putting actual loot into the raids (aside from the cosmetics) is a very, very big L take.
There is no incentive to do the raid aside from the highest difficulty for the cosmetics..

I don't mind prestige stuff but... eh, I guess times have changed, back in the day things weren't as organized and abused, so you could reasonably say most people wouldn't bother or have a system setup for it, but that's what this will result in. People giving away or selling runs.

It should be more fun than the initial release of the game, it has matured for sure (albeit still disappointing).

They don't want to funnel you into group content so they have weekly rewards and cosmetics. The content you're talking about is in kurast under city and boss ladder/infernal hordes which makes sense since you can do all that solo.
D4 really needs to buckle down and add a shitload of content to the game. Number generating gear is only interesting for so long.
Franchise died back in Diablo 3 when game wasn’t about cool gear anymore just pieces to attach to generic random gear with a color coding to make it feel special when it’s not. Then they repeated this process for Diablo 4 expecting they could get away with it if the art team carried it. It couldn’t carry this pile of shit 😂

My concern is about the Mercenaries. I fear they'll be completely useless on their own past Normal difficulty. And that we'll be using them like in D3 only because of 1 or 2 somewhat useful passives, and they'll need an item to make then invincible otherwise they'd keep dying. I HOPE that's not the case at all and that they're actually useful and can contribute on their own.

Oh its like with every "new" stystem they introduce to the diablo franchise, They steal it from somewhere else, but they forget to steal the important part. They took lost arks raid, saw that the highest difficulty only yields cosmetics, and they copied it. What they forgot is, that all easier difficulties, actually reward u with loot to upgrade your character. So they stole, hab only halfassed like with the affix/loot system they stole from Last epoch like couple months ago, they forgot to also steal the most important parts
You have to beat it on T4. Hopefully it’s not something you beat in one try.
There's also weekly rewards so we'll have to see if they make them worthwhile.
It's pretty clear you are supposed to be spending way more time on other content, not the raids. People are acting like there's not a whole other game mode in addition to changes to pit/nightmare dungeons and also a spammable seasonal mechanic. Why is everyone so laser focused on the one piece of content you're going to be spending less time on than these others.

I think the mistake people make with the game is following guides instead of creating their own build. Its a great game when you experiment with your own builds and feels so much more rewarding.

There is no creating your own build the game is so limited when it comes to builds lmao, It's a basic AF game you will accidentally make a meta build 🤣🤣
The problem has been that making your own builds will only get you so far. Most builds have a ceiling and you have to use a meta build to go further in the game, which makes it boring.
I’ve made a Leap, kick, ground stomp build every season. Around 85-90 it becomes increasingly ineffective
