    Really an excellent VID. I just purchased my Lynx this past weekend and really appreciated the mods that you did to yours. I’m your height so will look at the seat risers and the furniture pads. One thought you my do on your PVC bunkers is put some indoor/outdoor short pile carpet on them. I noticed that if there was any sand on the bottom of the hull that if you went down the road PVC on PVC, the sand would really do a number on both the OVC of the boat and the bunk. The carpet eliminated that. I also watch some of your other videos and have subscribed to follow. Again, good content. Also like you, I grew up in the Midwest (Iowa) so am enjoying learning how to salt water fish in NC mainly but also FL when we go there. Tight lines to you.

      @FishingwiththeOz  Год назад

      The indoor out door carpet would help with any minor scratching but my concern is that it would cause more friction and make it harder to slide on and off the bunks. Maybe I will experiment. Thanks and hope you enjoy the Lynx. It has been a great kayak for me.

    I'm surprised the seat risers make that big a difference. I'm 6'1" and the standard seat position on the Lynx is fine for me. However, anything to make pedaling more comfortable has my interest.

      I am 6'2" with long legs. The seat risers help me to stand easier but I agree, the standard position is still better than most fishing kayaks.

    Great vid! Love the risers also, i left the seat straps on too loose a couple of trips and really tore up my marine mat. I was using the soft side of velcro but I like your idea better with the seat risers. P.S. Really like Black Creek also, great kayak shop.

My wife is on it because she has family all over the world and it’s the best platform for them. Anyways I’m kayakless at the moment so doing a lot of golf and surf fishing but hope to be in the Lynx soon. I’ve kayak fished for more years that I can count and I love it. Have bought several kayaks and paddle boards from Black Creek and they are great people. We both live in Nocatee and that works too.

    Great Video, Did you form the PVC rails on your trailer? If yes what Schedule PVC and what did you use as a heat source?
    Thank You. Hope to build a similar arrangement in my truck bed.

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  2 года назад

      I actually was fortunate to have purchased the trailer used and the mods were done by the original owner. He used 4 inch pvc to make 4 bunks to hold two kayaks. I suspect he used a heat gun to bend the PVC as I have shaped smaller diameter PVC with a heat gun fairly easily. The bunks are best suited for more traditional shaped kayak hulls versus the Lynx with its flatter bottom.

  • @DrewDeGraff

    Would like to know about your trailer. How did you make those PVC pipes fit. Looks like they are bent down.

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  Год назад

      I was lucky to find a used Yakima Rack and Roll trailer with the PVC pipes already installed. The original owner of the trailer used a heat gun to bend the PVC. There are some RUclips videos of similar pvc trailer modifications that you can search for, like this one ruclips.net/video/uZLedzEPZWo/видео.html

    Nice video - very informative. I was not clear on your seat risers. Do you have extra height on the back seat risers or just the 1 1/2 " on back. Is the front also the 1" from Navarre? Does the carpet guard add extra height? I just picked up my Lynx and am customizing. Thanks

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  2 года назад

      1.5 inches on the back and 1 inch on the front is what Nick at Navarre kayak fishing sells. The furniture caster does not really raise the seat up any higher but my kayak kushion probably adds some marginal height to my seating position. Hope you enjoy the Lynx as much as I do. Also, I ended up buying the clear caster cups and put those on to protect the deck pad from getting gouged by the seat risers. The clear looks good and I don't have to paint it.

    I just snagged an H-rail kit! I was wondering if you’ve seen any damage to the hull at the rear mounting point? There are a few videos about this and one company is selling spacers to put between hull and back mounting bracket that they say mitigate this damage. Do you think the spacers are necessary?

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  2 года назад

      The spacers were not available when I first mounted the H rails so I don’t have them. I don’t notice any indentations but that doesn’t mean they are there underneath where I can’t see them. If I were installing H rails again I would definitely get the spacers. Nick at Navarre Kayak fishing also sells them and also the seat risers. and I like sitting up a bit higher.

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  2 года назад

      I had a 7 inch Garmin with more features (that I really didnt need or use) on my old town kayak and decided to go with a more basic and smaller profile finder to reduce weight and not have the finder get in my way as much. If i had better eyes I might have even gone to a 4 inch. I am typically fishing in shallow water and use the finder mostly for depth, water temp, and bottom contour. Your needs may differ.

    How well does it track if you needs to paddle it ?

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  2 года назад +1

      Mark, that is a great question. The Lynx does not track well compared to my previous two kayaks, an Old Town Sportsman and a Hobie Compass. I get in shallow water fairly often, but usually not for long periods at a time so paddling is tolerable. For me, the benefit of having a light and stable fishing platform is worth the extra effort it takes when paddling. Hope that helps.

    Hows the side pocket holding up?

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  Год назад

      I have since made a few changes. I installed a TPP motor and I store the battery under the seat so I no longer have that under seat space. Consequently I then installed a BerleyPro SideBro where the Perception Kayak side pocket was and moved the Perception pocket to the front part of the seat. The Perception pocket is holding up ok, I only use one zip tie on each top corner to hold it in place so I can move it up and down, like a flap, and not completely block off access to under the seat. To mount the BerleyPro you need a mounting plate that Louisiana Custom Kayaks sells on their site. I think as of today they have the side mounting plate but may be out of stock on the BerleyPro SideBro (I'm sure they will get more). That works out nicely since I can fit a 3600 size tackle tray in the SideBro along with my fishing pliers and fish gripper.
