- As we continue our #blackhistorymonth celebration look back at a great ko from #sugarrayleonard in this free fight against Dave Boy Green. It was Leonard first title defense and he did it in trilling fashion.
Today, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) announced that international superstar Jake “The Problem Child” Paul will, at long last, face undefeated pro boxer Tommy “TNT” Fury, younger brother of Heavyweight World Champion Tyson Fury, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
Paul vs. Fury will stream live on ESPN+ PPV (2PM ET / 11AM PT), the exclusive digital distributor in the United States. Additionally, it will be available via cable and satellite pay-per-view providers and will be priced at $49.99

I do appreciate the epic free fights, but showing Sugar Ray Leonard to advertise a Jake Paul fight is like handing out free samples of lobster to advertise tins of expired spam.
Guy doesn't even deserve to have his face in the same video as Sugar's
This was a mandatory title bout. He was next in line. You cant anachronistically compare his legendary status today to his newly crowned head back then.
He ended the career of a ton of people who earned the right to fight him. This was the European champ, whether you like it or not.
SRL is my favorite fighter. He's my GOAT. But he didn't fight internet sensations nor would he if that was even a thing back in the day.
That he dominated is beside the point. He earned his right to fight the champ.
@@pluckinmageetar I'm not dissing Davey Boy Green, I'm dissing Jake Paul.
@@raggedcritical You're being a little insincere, but I have no animus towards you. I laughed, sooo.... No, it wasn't a direct diss of Danny Green, but the comparison was made not only to (rightly) slam "Fake" Paul but also to suggest that Mr Green, or simply fighting him, was somehow comparable to a Jake Paul fight.
Anyone watching the fight for the first time not knowing either fighter would never have made that comparison. Neither would I, as someone far older and wiser than the alphabet generations, who grew up in the fight game...and who saw this fight live, knowing full well the reputation of each.
My only point was that Mr Green was eons better than Mr Paul and that he earned his thrashing at the hands of arguably one of the greatest boxers of all time. And he didn't become "a RUclips sensation" to do it but persevered through years of preparation and toil.
Peace brother!🤘😎
@@pluckinmageetar I don't know how to tell you this, but I was referring to the simple, surface level absurdity that this fight - featuring one of the greatest, most sublime boxers of all time - was actually uploaded in part to advertise a Jake Paul fight. I have nothing to say about Davey Boy Green.
Sugar ray Leonard speed was just something elite.
For the morons calling Green a tomato can do your due diligence on fighters. Green was a solid top 10 147 fighter in any era.
You're right. Green came into that fight 33-2. He was definitely a contender.
@@greencm7142 He gave champion Carlos Palomino his toughest fight until being knocked out by, coincidently, a left hook.
Met DBG 4-5 years ago, he was lost in Norwich streets in his black merc...asked for directions, I said I recognised him - he seemed genuinely flattered by it, such a gentleman. Leonard was amazing in this fight though
Nice anecdote, mate. What an achievement to have got to fight the great Sugar Ray Leonard.
@@goodyeoman4534 Agreed, and don't forget he fought another great, Carlos Palomino, for the same world title three years earlier, and almost won. A shame he never quite reached the top title but it was a different era, when being ranked in the top ten was an achievement and a world title actually meant something, unlike today when all the meaningless titles are split and they're lucky if they fight just once or twice at most a year.
Thank you for showing this fight ! One of Mr. Leonard’s best fight! He was so fast and accurate with his punches.
This was a classic for me - the first fight card that I had ever seen as a kid. I've been addicted to boxing ever since!
Wow, you got to see the best at his best🎉
I'm 23, same happened to me with De La Hoya vs Mayweather. I remember crying cause Oscar lost🤣 now I hate him

Sugar Ray Leonard
Sugar Ray Leonard was maybe the greatest boxer of the past fifty years. Certainly in the top 3.
It’s hard to argue with that. He was special.
Leonard the perfect fighter
Pretty much a very tuned down version of prime SRR
Nobody's better than Sugar Ray Leonard
The greatest boxer ever Sugar Ray Leonard
Without A Doubt This Guy Had It All In A Boxing Ring
great defense, speed and power the whole package.
Don't diminish green just because he's out of his league here.. leonard was just that great
Exactly. Green was pretty good, but Leonard is one of the best ever, and Green's style was perfect for Leonard.
Sugar Ray also did the same thing to Andy Price, another very good fighter.
It looks like Leonard sparked out Canelo lmao. 😂
Brutal combos. Damn. That’s why he was the champ 5 diff times.
it looked like the right before the knockout left hit Davey Boys glove and his own glove hitting him in the face stunned him.
Dave Green was a true warrior but wasn’t in the same class as Sugar Ray.
I suspect he could have took Green out any time he wanted.
Beautiful combination of punches
He said protruding chin a excellent target!!!🤣
Leonard’s greatest performance. Thank you for getting this perfect print.
2:28 his movement is JUST like Ali for a few seconds here
@9:42 No s!r...that was caught on the chin🤨🎯
Davey boy asking "what happened?"😳😬
It was just asked who's you favorite fighter of all time. Mine was always Sugar Ray and I go back and watch his fights just to marvel at his skill and speed. One of the greatest ❤👏💯
Sugar Ray Leonard - the most naturally gifted boxer ever...
That Combination though!
I don’t think sugar Ray even worked up a sweat in this one!
FACTS.
Great commentary back in the days
when you watch someone with mastery in boxing....its like watching moving art.
The most complete fighter ever Sugar Ray Leonard
amazing to see Sugar Ray's speed.
The Ali of welter weights.
Thanks
What fighter sugar Ray Leonard was wao incredible boxer skills he had it all
15 rounds back then. Murder.
Back of the head hitting the canvas has got to be a mighty knockout
Sugar was a dog and had the smarts to beat anybody. Great showcase of hard work and adjustments.
Amazing fight👏👏👏
Impressive.
Sugar Ray weren't no punk boy!
This fight was a complete mismatch - the gulf in class was huge. In this bout, Sugar Ray Leonard reminded me of a mini Ali, who in turn based his style on (Sugar) Ray Robinson. Leonard couldn't have had finer predecessors than those two greats, so Green was never going to get close in this fight - although, as ever, he showed plenty of heart. Thanks for uploading.
That punch that they said was caught on the glove definitely connected the dude head clearly snapped back 😂🤦🏽♂️
Is that arthur mccanty Jr daddy?
Great compilation! AP had hands the size of a heavyweight, and he beat Gary Hinton and Hilmer Kenty in the amateurs too. The Davis fights were close and arguable as USA boxing liked Davis as a rep rather than Pryor
Oueh ! Léonard est un as de la boxe mondiale ❤
Excelente Leonard!!! El rival la verdad no da la talla, gracias Saludos.
Nice left hook!
A perfect performance
Brutal 😖
Wow !! I Remembered This Fight All-So-Well- & Knew Davey-Boy-Green Of Who I've Never Ever Heard Of Was Way Over Matched With Sugar Ray The Welterweight Goat, Dude Was Practically Murdered Cold On His Feet At Point Blank Range By The Greatest Welterweight Fighter Of All Time Sugar Ray Leornard , End !! Of Story 😒🙁
Frame 9:41 that left hook was NOT caught on the glove it was stopped by the face...LOL! Boxing commentators back that weren't very good. The worst of them of course was Howard Cossell.
More like Sugar Ray Leonard!✌🏽
Didn't SRL have a fight where he ran out of his corner at the first bell and annihilated his opponent in under two minutes. Might have been in '79 or '80?
2:39 itagaki
A lot of people know Jack about boxing. Green was a decent fighter he had really good power just couldnt land on Sugar. Also compared to the shit.boxers of todays era he had good feet in and out and decent head movement for a plodder now days no one moves their head. Leonard would destroy any welter weight in this era. Todays boxers have awful defense
🇲🇽🖐️
Boy green didn’t really got further than these titles fights ! But British fighters did change their mind and are still among the best in the world.
O !! One Last Thing, It's A Blessing By Birth Default For: Floyd Mayweather, Jr, Missing The Great Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Era, Otherwise That Could've Been Him Knocked Dead😏🤨 Seriously !!
Leaping left hook
Lol😂
The Best bóxer all the time ..nobody has thats tecnic..no vary
Britain wasn't sending their best until Tyson Fury.
Broo what about the lion lewis, the hitman, joe calzaghe these guys were true beast
Do you even know who Nigel Benn is? Educate yourself.
Tyson Fury who’s touched canvas more than Picasso
Casuals bruh…
@@josevaldes2583 *FRANK BRUNO!!!!
Timber
Wow
Why was Ray fighting this guy? He was only able to dance around so long before the crowd got bored. Ray played with this guy not even a tune up fight.
CASUAL BOZO!!!
Why not? It was his mandatory first world title defense, and Green was 33-2. Oh course the crowd got bored. Most of them didn't know how boxing works. This was back when it was 15 rounds.
Clearly out of his league 😂 how did they schedule this things 😆
Leonard was just that great.
Dude. Everyone not named Duran or Hearns was completely out of their league against Leonard. Look at what Ray also did to Andy Price.
@@PhilAndersonOutsidepeople just comment complete ignorance.
I don’t understand why Leonard kept running from him he posed absolutely no threat! 🤷🏽♂️
Nice try. It's called movement, something all boxers are schooled in. Running has nothing to do with it, if you knew anything about boxing you would know that. He sure wasn't 'running' when he knocked him out.
Why would you upload a fight between a legend and clearly a trash can
Bozo you dont know ish about boxing. Know who he’s fighting first dummy.
Trashcan?... watch his fight against Palomino, if you know who he is of course
Ignorant comment.
Let's be honest, Dave Green was a tomato can.
Let's be honest, you're a troll. 4 years earlier Green came close to putting away Palomino for the welterweight title.
ALI Y LEONARD LOS MÁS GRANDES
Sugar one of the best ever to lace em up
Srl best ever
