Redbull should do their own Downhill circuit. They already have all the infrastructure, tech support and staff. Just send out a team now to scout some new tracks...like in Japan! A number of riders mentioned Japan.
I think UCI DHI care to much to do all events in first world and all near for the first world teams travel less. Imagine how a third world racers like Brazil should spend in planes to all UCI races far away? Yes Red Bull could have taken from UCI but looks like a huge endless advocacy fight. And DH is not a "new" sport like Enduro and EWS so is harder to change hands.
I think Dan Atherton was a bit grumpy that he never got an invite to a FEST event because he's not one of the cool kids. So now he's showing them that they're not the only game in town. Well impressive.
